My mom used to work from home and now has to go to another location to work all day long. I started screaming in the morning and really load when she came home at night. Chris thought I was going to start plucking, so she decided to send me to a home where I would have lots of company and attention.. |

Hey sweet Josh! How is my so very handsome guy? I know your mom has been very busy with lots of BOTD honors in your flock so I just thought I would fly by and let you know how much I miss your sweet beak and hope we can get together soon. A crazy woman who was on drugs deliberately set fire to the hillside near here. It made lots of people nervous and a friend of mom's called worried about us. The first responders were great and really saved the day and we feel very fortunate. When the officers were arresting the woman, she fought with them and injured one of them. Sad no matter how you look at it. Take care sweet Josh. I miss you! Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hi Josh thankyou for the compliment about me riding in the dery. i tried my best. it is very hard to talk to everybirdy while at the milongas especialy with a puter as old and slow as ours. sometimes it just seems easier to pick out 1 or 2 birds and leave it at that. the Wonder Wings team wond today and Boo Boo is just ecstatic over it. i was very proud watching her play on the field today. tomorrow i play with the Mlbs and i am very excited but nervous. hope you are having a great day. love CoriCome visit me, Paddy Cake & Piddy Girl, CORI vote Luigi 225307 & BOO BOO vote Luigi BOTM 225307.

Hey Josh I would say we had a good game today - even though we lost, it was still fun, and fun watching little Remington strut his stuff, lol! Really nice home run there, Josh! Oh your mom is the best - and she's so right! If we can't rant to one another than who else? Mom had her Mickaboo in home visit today and it went really well. She says she is going to try and get back to your mom via email within the next day or two. She is so happy to be able to do that. She says she'll send her all her contact info then too. It sure makes sense that daddy bird wouldn't eat hot peppers after that treatment. Mom wonders if it is an acquired taste or innate. While skisis and skinbro grew up eating spicy foods, to this day skinsis is not that fond of spicy things and she's a chef. Skinbro loves spicy food. Go figure. Mom usually makes chile colorado for Christmas dinner and last year she told her dad so he said, "send me some". Sounded like a challenge to mom, so she froze a quart of it then took it downtown to her mail guy, cost her $45, BUT her dad was so excited and pleased. That made her day! Mom will sure try to get us all to the game tomorrow so we can watch. I would just love to be able to see your handsome beak two days in a row. Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh No worries and no hurry. Mom was just giving your mom a head's up. I had to laugh. Mom is always nice and respectful, but angelic, LOL! Nope. But it's very nice your mom doesn't mind a good rant from time to time. Mom says she promises not to make a habit of it! Those jalapeno poppers are the best. Funny, daddybird is Irish/Scottish/English. When mom had him for dinner the first time for Mexican food (about 38 years ago), he took one bite of (very mild) enchilada and went running for the sink claiming his mouth was on fire! Mom's family just stared at him like he was from another planet. But now, daddybird is the one spicing up everything, loves Mexican food - mom always says she taught that guy how to eat! Anyway, I can't wait to see you tomorrow and, oh yes, I will be wearing that hat - just for you sweet Josh! Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Brother, how's it goin? Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6 Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much. Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom Gail. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it. with my heart filled with love Sky 224183Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Hey sweet Josh! That strawberry was so delicious and the walnuts, just fabulous. I so enjoyed them, thank you for thinking of me, sweetheart! I have brought you some fresh picked cherries from our tree. They are a bit tart cuz dad picks them early so the birds and squirrels don't get all of them, but they are still very good. Sure hope you like cherries. Mom makes lots of Mexican food. Her gma (Nana) came here from Mexico and Spanish was mom's dad's first language, but, to be honest, carne asada is not one of the things she learned to do so...she buys it already marinated from Trader Joe's and it is really awesome (not to mention easier). If your mom wants to do her own though, bet there's lots of recipes on the internet. Mom says she would be happy to look for her if she would like - just let her know. Your mom was going to put together a cook book? From BC people? That might be a super idea! Mom sent your mom an email, I think Tuesday, maybe yesterday, but just an update about Mickaboo and, perhaps, a little rant included. Hope that's ok??? Mom can get carried away. Do you like to dance, Josh? I am so hoping for at least one dance at the milonga... Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh All the nuts and fruits - that's what mom jokingly calls California, land of the fruits and nuts, haha. Seriously though, it all sounds like a wonderful feast for you and your flock. My beak started to water just a little. Mackie and I love our nuts. And that BBQ sounded wonderful. Do you ever get leftovers to share? I know Mackie loves rib bones, I'm a little less enthused. Actually, skinsis and her hubby are transferring to Indonesia for his job. Their initial trip has been postponed a bit as all the medical paperwork has to be in order. Now mom's not sure when the grandkids will be here - what else is new? Expect the unexpected... Carne asada is grilled steak that's been marinated usually in garlic, lime, cilantro, etc. It is one of skinbros favorites (his name is also Joshua!) so mom thought it would be nice to have for his birthday which is today and he turned 30. Mom says that's a little disconcerting, whatever that means. Chyna confirmed the milonga on Saturday. I'll be there with bells on sweet Josh, wouldn't miss it. Oh, and I do love mint juleps! Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh How was your weekend? Mine was mostly unremarkable. I will check the milonga page but am almost certain that it is 11 May, this Saturday. Mom is going a bit crazy over this month and all that has to be done. Skin bro's 30th birthday is tomorrow so he will be here tonight for carne asada and blackberry pie for dessert. Mom will have the grandkids for 10 days beginning 16 May as skinsis and her hubby are transferring to Indonesia soon and need to take a trip to check out schools, housing, etc. Both mom and dad have their hatchdays end of the month. Well, there goes May. Mom actually thought she was going to take it easy this month. HA! And, mom wants another fid? Maybe mom is completely off her rocker. If I find out the milonga day is different, I will let you know right away. I don't want to miss the big derby dance with you, sweet, handsome Josh! Hey Josh I don't know how it's possible, but I think you're even more handsome when you're blushing!! Mom says she sent your mom a friend request on FB and is very excited about the connection. She will most definitely keep in touch with your mom and is very appreciative of her knowledge. If she wants, mom has a FB page called For the Love of our Animal Companions she would love for your mom to check out and like. If not, that's okay too, no pressure cuz that's not what this is about anyway. Good to know about the green cheeks. The Mickaboo gal did say they had a few older, quieter birds so that's certainly a possibility. Mom talked to them today and has her phone interview Tuesday and she's looking forward to that. Then they do the house visit. The gal did say the pionus were quieter and there are a few needy birds. Think it's all about the bonding. I'll be gone for the weekend sweet Josh and will really miss you, but yes, the derby milonga sounds like so much fun, can't wait. Take care you handsome gentleman! Hey There Ya MIGHTY MACAW! Assistant Coach RaneBeau here with some news you may be excited t'hear. I've got player's positions!! Yup, I do. Jake tells me these were decided by luck of the draw, literally. He and his parronts put the team players in one hat and the playing positions in another and then he supervised them each drawing one from each hat. Here's how it turned out: PITCHER Sky 224183 CATCHER Scarlet 150977 1st Base RaneBeau 14079 2nd Base Floop 91788 3rd Base Chica 204081 Short Stop Malachite 8752 Left Field Jake 66865 Center Field Chyna 221660 Right Field BigBaby 11078 Short Field Joshua Chico 242006 Reserve Athena 247169 Reserve Ducky 186318 And there ya have it TEAMMATES! The O-FFCIAL roster of the MIGHTY MACAWS for the 2013 Birdie BazeBol season! Now, what we'll be needin' is a picture or two (or three - we can't never have too many) of you so your baseball picture can be whipped up. Try and strike a pose that's a good one for balancing a hat on your head and sit real still while the camera's doin' its thing so the photo's nice and focused. A blurry picture makes for a blurry baseball photo! Send your pics either to me or to Coach Jake and if you don't have either of our addys, just ask and I'll get that for ya. While I have pics of lots of you, you may want t'see yourself in a new pose so don't hesitate to share a NEW picture with Coach Jake or myself. (His mom'll be making our team pictures.) And here's a practice throw to you, Josh. — — — — — O Catch!! And now I'll be steppin' back 'cause I'm sure your throw is downright wicked. R ('>Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.

Hey Josh You are just the cutest! I am so happy to be your girl. Just ignore your frothers. They're probably giving you the business cuz you're so handsome. Tell your sweet mom that my mom very much appreciated the email and was sooo happy to hear from her and really enjoyed the exchange. Mom will keep her updated with any and all developments so she can get the straight scoop and poop as she says! Next step is waiting to hear from Mickaboo for a phone interview. If she passes that, then she will be cleared to visit some of the birds and then she still must be approved by the committee, so it could take a bit. That's okay. Mom is just happy they are so careful. Mom also found Mickaboo and the others and liked them on FB too. Mom has a page on FB that she started a few years ago in honor of her beloved Savannah and she posts anything for animals and their welfare and can now can do that with the bird pages as well. Ok, next time mom better email - she's getting carried away on my time! Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hi Josh Spotlight on Caring-TAZ part 5 Hi birdies, SKY here with the 5th part of our interview with the PROCTOR flock. I wish to thank TAZ and his Mom Gail for sharing with us. SKY; please, continue to tell us about your wonderful flock members. JEWEL was the next to join the flock, Burt saw her in one of the local bird stores and as I said before he is a sucker for birdies needing a home so Burt paid for her and home she came. He thought that maybe she would help mom get over TJ. She was originally purchased from the store as a present for a man's wife but was returned after she decided she didn't like the woman and bit her. Guess what, she is my girl now...see what taking a little time can do. CALABAR was a Mitred conure and was Jewel’s best friend. Their cages were close to each other and they would be visiting and playing together all day long. Calabar was one of the bird store employee’s bird but they also had an Umbrella cockatoo that attacked her and left a mark on her beak so they wanted a safer environment for her so we took her in. Before she came to live with her previous owner her life was not so good, she was exposed to a lot of bad things like cigarette smoke, marijuana smoke etc. she did not get a good diet their either…taco chips etc. She lived in a party house that was not a proper place for a parrot. She was with us for 10 years and one day we came home and found her on the bottom of her cage. She had passed away while we were gone. We had a necropsy done and it was found that she had a hole in her proventicular and some other issues probably caused by her diet and exposure to bad air. I miss her a lot as she was a very sweet girl who loved to ride on shoulders and loved car rides. Scooby Doo joined us after we used to visit another bird store here and we saw him there a few times but then he got sold to a lady who ended up returning him as she said she was allergic to him. We used to visit him at the store until one day Scooby was out and sitting on a little girls shoulder and he decided he would fly over to visit me and he sat on my shoulder for the rest of the time I was there so they decided to buy him and a new cage and home he came. Burt calls him the Universal Parrot...he loves everyone and never bites. He is a joy to take to schools as he loves the kids there. with my heart filled with love, SKY 224183Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Spotlight on CARING-Taz part 4 HELLO all, SKY BOY here with the continuing interview with our good friends TAZ, The PROCTOR FLOCK and Mom Gail SKY; Tell me about the birds in your flock? Are any rescues? MOM GAIL; TWEETY our first fid passed away on New Year's Day 2005, she was 11 years old. She was a very sweet girl and she is missed. TAZ is the only planned fid in our flock Taz, we found him at a breeders about 180 miles away. We decided on a citron cockatoo after doing a lot of research on them. He was only a couple of months old when we first saw him and of course we fell in love with him. He stayed there until he was 6 months and then he joined our flock. He is a joy but he is also a challenge. He used to be strictly a mama’s boy but around 10 years ago he decided that in the mornings he is a papa’s boy but in the evening he loves me. If I am in the room as well as Burt then his mission is to get rid of me. He is a planner; he plans and figures out the best way to get me. I have been bitten quite badly a few times and Burt was almost ready to remove him from the flock but I would never let that happen. Burt would never really do that but in the moment that he saw me bitten he was just very upset. We have a system figured out so that we are not in the bird room together when Taz is out. He is such an intelligent fellow; it is amazing to watch him. He loves wood and will go through a toy in less than a day so we need to have lots and lots of wood around for him. TJ was next to join, Burt saw him in the local pet store sitting in a small cage looking very sad…Burt is a sucker for a sad face so he bought him and surprised me. I took him to our vet and had all the tests done as I had a bad feeling about him. He was with us for a short nine months. One day after his quarantine was over I noticed that he had some discharge coming from one of his nares so off to the vet we went. The vet did a culture and came back and the result was Pseudomonas so he gave me the medicine to treat him. TJ was none too fond of being toweled for his medicine but over all he did great. I had to flush his nares as well. He appeared to be over it and was doing well. About a month later I noticed discharge coming from the same nare again. Off to the vet and more tests were taken and this time the vet came back with a diagnoses of Aspergillus so more medicine for TJ to take. I followed the vet's instructions but started to think that things were not right so I called to talk to the vet and could not get a hold of him but the tech said to continue the meds as they all needed to be taken to be effective. I gave TJ his next dose but shortly after he was convulsing on the bottom of his cage so I called Burt and we took him to the emergency vet and unfortunately TJ did not make it. They tried to save him but it was not to be. I felt very guilty about that and blamed myself for his death, I still do. to be continued with my heart filled with love Sky 224183Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Hey Josh We will most definitely keep Uncle Dave in our prayers. It was good of your parronts to go for a visit. It's good medicine to have people who love you near. Well, I can see why you crack your mom up. You crack me up too! And, mom says if I ask her "whachya doin'", she'd laugh also. She laughed just hearing the story. Mom says to tell your mom she sent her an email and she is very grateful for the help. Mom openly admits she has much to learn about birds and is happy when someone who does know is willing to share. Take care handsome Josh! Love and winghugs, Athena p.s. Your mom's not a braggert, she's just proud!Come visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Josh! It's great t'know your parronts have made it home safely from their TX trip and that you're all back t'gether like it's supposed to be. It's sad t'know that Uncle Dave is struggling with pneumonia right now. Hopefully he'll be able to power up and push past this so he can get on with the annihilation of the cancer crud. It'll be good t'hear that stuff's long gone for him. That's awesome that your mom took a bunch of bird pics along. Birdsonaly I can't think of a better thing to cheer somebody up than a happy bird face. We cheer the soul, do we not! Love and winghugs back to ya, Josh. R ('>Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.

Hey Josh You are so sweet, you make me blush! Did your mom really show my pic? Wow, I'm flattered! You know, your mom sounds so very wise. I think you ARE very blessed to have your parronts. I think we are too. Mom has been reading a little bit about a local bird rescue organization called Mickaboo. When she realized the avian store wanted too much just to rehome a deserving bird, it upset and frustrated her so she did an online search and found Mickaboo. They seem to be a wonderful organization. She went to a class they require for those interested in adopting, volunteering or fostering. It was great. They are very careful about to whom they adopt, doing phone interviews, requiring visits to the birds and also doing home visits to be sure it's a safe environment. At least initially, mom was impressed. She has filled out the application and now will be contacted by a coordinator. If she is found to be a good match, she is leaning toward a pionus but possibly a conure, adult to senior as the parronts are in their late 50's. If things work out she is thinking of volunteering too. Anyway, we'll see where all this leads. Does your mom have any thoughts? If she doesn't mind sharing her opinion, mom would value what she thinks with regard to bird choice and any other thoughts - that is if she is willing. You sure are a good listener, Josh, thanks! Not to mention you're so good looking! Are you looking forward to playing baseball? Love and winghugs, Athena p.s. How's Uncle Dave?Come visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh So, how's it going with the petsitter - causing mayhem and partying big time? Be sure you clean up so the parronts are none the wiser, hehehe. So awesome about your Uncle Dave being a "for real" cowboy. Hope that your parronts visit proves a source of healing comfort for him and he recovers from pneumonia. It must be difficult while fighting cancer too. We continue prayers for healing and peace. The power of prayer is awesome. It is interesting how things turn out. Mom says she thinks that a love of birds (animals, really) is usually innate. Some people have it, some don't, but she thinks it's easier (and often better) to trust those that do. The parronts would go by our hatch place, the avian store, and visit just because they thought we were all so beautiful. (We are!) They started visiting with a baby B/G and before you knew it, they had put a deposit on her and mom went to visit with her til she was able to come home. That's Mackenzie's story. Mine is similar except dad said no more birds. Obviously mom talked him into it cuz here I am... Sorry for running on so much. Safe travels to the parronts! Hi Little Brother SPOTLIGHT on CARING-TAZ part 3 Hi SKY here with part 3 of our interview with TAZ, the PROCTOR FLOCK and their mom GAIL. SKY; Do you volunteer somewhere,or speak to people about birds Mom GAIL; I don’t volunteer anywhere as there is no place near us. I do volunteer to take my birds (mainly Simon and Scooby) to local elementary schools. I do have a funny story about Simon while at an elementary school…we all were moving our birds from classroom to classroom and my husband, Burt, was carrying Simon and I was a head of them in the hallway when Simon decided he wanted to be with me and not Burt so he flew out of Burt’s hand toward me when he overshot me and failed to stop or turn before he got to the wall and crash (he wasn’t hurt…he’s pretty hard headed in more ways than one). Nothing else was hurt or damaged so we continued on to the next classroom, when we got home we got a call from the school about Simon…he was not welcome back unless he had his wings clipped or was wearing a harness. Since neither of those was going to happen he never went back to that school. We tell everyone that he got kicked out of school…hehe Scooby loves to go to and see the kids and the kids love him. All the kids line up and one by one they get to have Scooby step up on their arms…the look on their faces is priceless… SKY; thank you Mom Gail and TAZ to be continued with my heart filled with love, SKY 224183Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Hey Josh! Well, thank you very much for liking my hat picture. That makes me happy! Yup, Jimmy Buffet flag it is. That's interesting about your mom getting into birds that way. Mom and dad's first intrigue was through the series Baretta. Now they seldom if ever watch TV. Yay, Boomer goes to his forever home. What a lucky bird. And, I would say you are a lucky bird too. My goodness, so many toys and perches too. So, why did you bite your poor mom? Definitely kiss up time, dude! The Hyacinths are so gorgeous. There are a few at our bird store. One of them, that sadly passed away, used to OWN that store. He would greet all the customers and then choose which ones he preferred to spend time with. Mom loved him so much. And yes, they get to be very big - gentle giants for sure! I am very sorry to learn of your Uncle Dave's illness. We will all keep him and the entire family in our prayers - for healing, comfort and peace. Please wish your parronts safe travels to Houston. Mom is a Texan, lived in Houston 5 years as a girl. Be sure to be good to your pet sitter, sounds like she's a gem. Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh Now, I would say that you and your mom are definitely having a conversation, very cool! I do that with mom too, mostly to ask her questions and then I will make comments also. When she accidentally drops the broom I say "uh oh". She thinks that's funny. Bet she'd like Blue's Curly laugh as well. Say, did we read you have a family member who isn't well? We are so sorry to hear that, wish we'd known sooner and certainly pray that it isn't serious and a there is a quick recovery. We sure are having beautiful weather here, wish you could share it with me! Love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh Sure good to hear from you. I had a lovely milonga evening, thank you. We've been behaving. No more bites, just taking it out on the cardboard, foraging wheel and wood toys. Mackie took the faces off many of her plastic ducks. She said she doesn't like them staring at her. How are you doing, Josh? Grab your mom's glasses lately? Hey little Frother Josh, how's it going? Spotlight on Caring -Taz part 2 SKY; How did you become a bird owner? Mom GAIL;When we got back from Hawaii we started doing a lot of research on parrots, especially cockatoos. While doing that research a friend of ours had a little cockatiel named Tweety that they wanted to find a home for since his wife was pregnant and they didn’t think it was safe to have her around bird poop, so Tweety was our first bird and we were hooked. Hey Josh! So you're gettin' in some baseball practice by throwin' mom's glasses, huh? That's what I call devotion to your sport. Don't suppose that's how Mom saw it though. Crazy, some of the ideas that pop into our heads sometimes, huh? That party you all had while the parronts were away last weekend sounded like a riot. Everything all back in order now? or did your mom say what mine usually says when she finds a mess made by somebody else around here, that she'll just clean it up herself so it's done right the first time. Party on! R ('>Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.

Hey Josh Your parronts are awesome. I think anybirdy that gets to live in your flockily is super lucky. Mom just wishes there were more like them! Well, close call. Mom forgot about going to play bingo with friends on Saturday but dad says he doesn't want to go - in his words, "too boring" - so mom has decided not to go either. Besides, she heard dinner was going to be hot dogs and we know she hates those. I'm happy cuz that means I still get to go to the milonga with you - yay! Really looking forward to it, sweetheart. Hi brother Josh, SPOTLIGHT on CARING TAZ and Mom Gail Hello Everyone, SKY here with this weeks SPOTLIGHT on CARING. Today I will begin a series of wonderful interviews with TAZ, from the PROCTOR FLOCK and his wonderful mom Gail.. SKY; When did you first become interested in birds? Mom Gail; When my husband and I were in Hawaii on the island of Maui we stayed in a hotel that had parrots all over the lobby. We would go and look and talk to them all each day. Some were in cages and some like the macaws were on a big round ring perches. They had a parrot walk one day and we went on it to see what went on behind the scenes. It was very interesting and the gal who was their main caretaker was very knowledgeable. We decided to go to a bird store just to look at the parrots and on the way we got our picture taken with macaws all over us and that was fun, still have that picture. We found the bird store and began looking around and we told we could come into the baby bird room. That is where we both fell in love with a baby Umbrella cockatoo named Sweet Pea. Being just a baby it was the sweetest thing and of course wanted to cuddle…I was hooked. My husband being the sweet man he is tried to buy Sweet Pea for me. He talked to the owner and offered what he thought was a fair amount for the bird. We gave him our phone number for the hotel and left. Of course I was so anxious about it I couldn’t focus on anything else, we got the phone call and they declined our offer. They did call back later with a counter but it was still way too high for us…over $3000. We left Hawaii without Sweet Pea…still thinking about that baby. to be continued with my heart filled with love SKY 224381Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Oh Josh! It would be my great honor to have you escort me to the milonga. I wouldn't be happy going with anybirdy else. You are so sweet! I've been getting into a bit of trouble around here. Last week I bit dad very hard twice and then 3 days later decided to take a couple hunks out of mom's arm too. She's still wearing the scabs cuz I drew blood. Then on Sunday Mackie took a big hunk out of the inside of mom's nose. She tried to get away as she saw that big beak coming, but Mackie has pretty good aim. That bite bled for quite some time. Poor mom. She says we need an attitude adjustment and we're both doing our best suck up act. Lucky for both of us she doesn't hold a grudge. Wow, only $25 for a nanday. They are such beautiful and loving birds. Makes mom sad to know that. Far too many think of birds (all companion animals for that matter) as just commodities and never take into consideration that we have feelings. This world can really get you down sometimes, huh? Lots of love and winghugs!!! AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.

Hey Josh I really miss you too, I understand, but I do miss you! I also understand about Boomer, it's just nice that he has a good place to go. And we are so honored that we would be considered a good home for your frother. That makes us feel very good to know, thank you for the compliment! It would be nice if we lived closer, but not just for that reason. It would be really cool if we could see each other in birdson and then the parronts could get to know one another too. Something about bird people... At least we have BC and feel very fortunate to have connected with you and your wonderful flockily - y'all are the very best!! Hiya Josh And here I thought you were just razzin' Blue about his occluded gland. Turns out he's really got an issue, huh? Poor guy. Hope the vet visit remedies that real quick. Can't imagine how uncomfortable that'd be t'have that thing plugged up and not workkin' right. Glad t'hear that Uncle Dave's spirits are soarin' high even with all he's goin' through. This isn't the uncle you talk about makin' bread and goodies and what not for ya, is it? Maybe I've got my flocks wrong but I was sure it was yours that used t'talk about some awesome uncle comin' by and bakin' up treats that had the Stark flock gettin' fat n'happy. That's great your folks are gonna be able to go visit him. Har har har! about the party you fids are plannin' on while the babysitter's in charge. You need any help bringin' down the house, holler and I'll be right over. Thanks for stoppin' by. Always great t' yak with ya, Joshua Chico. R ('>Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.

Blue said yes t'playin' so I think he's definitely gonna be gettin' up and movin' around. I'll make sure he does! The funny thing about that is I'll have t'do the same (get up and get movin') t'make sure he's practicin' hard. How's your Uncle doin' these days? if ya don't mind my asking. He's in my prayers for my BC friends and family so I'm countin' on there bein' a blessing and a happy conclusion to this chapter in his life. Take care m'friend. R ('>Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.

Hi Josh Hello everyone, Sky here with this weeks SPOTLIGHT on CARING. I must apologize for missing 2 weeks but with the disappearance of Oliver 2 it was decided to fore-go continuing his Spotlight article. As many of you will know last week was of extreme stress at the SKY Flock Home. After being asked by several of my good BC friends I will share what took place. On the weekend of March 23rd a woman came to visit us looking to adopt a baby Budgie. When she saw that my Momma Deb has 2 very sweet pet rats she screamed and looked rather uncomfortable. Her husband teased her for over-reacting. She stayed and met the little white and violet baby that was ready for his new home. Happy with the baby she left with her new friend. While here she met me, SKY, minding my own business chewing on wood blocks and just hanging out as usual. She never asked what was wrong with my wing or Momma Deb would have explained my story of abuse. On Monday morning the OSPCA where at the front door with a complaint regarding the home being over-run in rats ( come on now, 2 is not over-run) and there were birds inside with broken limbs. Momma Deb allowed them into our home, having nothing to hide. They checked all of us out and when the woman inspector met me and my fister Little Angel a severe plucker, she told my Momma Deb that both of us couldn't have a quality life, and that she ought to think of euthanizing us. Momma Deb told her in no uncertain terms her opinion on that one. The inspectors who decided my life was worthless also didn't know a Budgie from a Cockatiel or one color of each from another. This uneducated person who passed a death sentence knew nothing about birds. Momma Deb was very upset about what was said regarding me and Little Angel and turned to her BC family for help. The response was beyond belief. When the male inspector returned last Thursday he said the OSPCA had received 100s of emails and many calls on our behalf. All was revoked and we shall remain safely with Momma Deb. Through this Momma Deb learned the following; 1) no owner HAS to allow the animal control people into their home without a written warrant 2) whenever possible keep something in writing from a Vet stating that the bird is healthy, and able to live a quality life. If it has any disability or behavior issue-plucking etc 3) ignorance is dangerous--educate these people before they arrive at someone else's door. If you are "birdly," offer to consult for them 4) The BC family is a powerful force in your corner when you really need them. I wish to thank all of you for your prayers, emails, calls and LOVE. with my heart filled with love SKY 224183 Come over to meet my NEW FISTER ZEENA 255116Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.

Hey Josh Thank you for the compliment on my picture. So, what's Boomer's story? Mom and dad fell in love with a nanday that needed rehoming but could not afford the $700 price tag - big ouch. Mom still thinks of her and wonders if she should talk to the woman about the price, but dad just keeps saying we have enough to take care of now. Ha, that's what he always says. Anyway, bet Boomer will make a wonderful addition to your flockily. That must have been exciting for Doo to be bird of the day. He sounds like a character. Guess what? Mac and I are going to play ball - well at least we hope we both get to if enough play to make two teams. Maybe we could be on the same team? That would be fun. Joshua Chico! How are ya? It's been way too long since I stopped in for a chat. Go ahead, say it — shame on me. I'm lookin' at the newest pictures on your page and seein' Blue in the background of one of them. Do you two hang out t'gether already?? Downright impressive if you do. There's a very specific reason why I've managed t'get here tonight. BASEBALL. Yup, it's time t'talk final details before Opening Day which to the best of my knowledge is set for the very first part of May. As the assistant coach of the MIGHTY MACAWS, I'm helpin' Coach Jake out by runnin' around to potential team members and touchin' base on their willingness t'sign on the dotted line. You're gonna, right? Sure hope so. The cool thing is, Jake and I are thinkin' that there may well be enough of us big birds t'form up a second macaw team! That would mean Blue could play too. Think he'd be interested? I'm sure hopin' so. It's gonna take a YES from everybirdie I ask t'make this work so I'm really hopin' my charm and charisma are in fine shape t'night. You and Blue, talk about it while you're hangin' out there t'gether, would ya. And then, if it's no trouble, come by and let me know your thoughts. Thanks bunches in advance. Hey Josh Oh yes, mom is very familiar with that axiom - she tends to apply it to all the critter family members. Just like your dad, ours goes along cuz he loves us all that way too. Every time mom decides it's time to add another, whether feathered or furry, he acquiesces with minimal complaint and then helps out. Mom says it's one way of being a servant cuz that's what she is able to do. So, did the senegal get rescued? Sure hope all went well in that regard. We want to wish you and all your family a most blessed Easter! We are grateful for your caring friendship. Lots of love and winghugs, AthenaCome visit me, Remington, Athena & Mackenzie.
