 Jack is a Ruby Macaw, I found him on Craigs list, breeder had him in outside cage next to several breeder cages, owner had a stroke and could not handle the him, he was mostly wild when I got him, could not be handled at all. But when Jack and I met, he laid eyes on me and followed me all over the cage trying to get my attention. I took him home, taught him to shake hands for treats, took 6 weeks to earn his trust to step up. Now he is like my dogs, "barks" when I get home from work, then say's HI as loud as he can when I open the cage to get him out.. |

Hi Jack, what a handsome bird you are! I love your story! 6 weeks is not long at all to get Jack to trust you. I adopted my bird Wiley, a Nanday Conure in May and he will only step up when he is on the floor (from trying to fly on his clipped wings). He has made tons of progress but is still hand-shy. He was rescued by animal control along with a dog and 8 puppies from a condemned house after the owner was arrested and put in jail (for something other than the condition of his house). I got 2 friends for him, Carly and Cricket, 2 Budgies that are 3 and had not been bought from a pet store that was closing. They adopted them out to me. They are not hand-tamed and not sure they can be. Their picture isn't up yet. Anyhow, my flock and I stopped by to say hi and we left you a vote.Come visit me, Carly, Cricket, Wiley & Angie.
