Hi Ruby!
Thank you for stopping by to congratulate me when I was Bird of the Day! I had a lovely time in the castle with beautiful Chyna.
I'm still nervous in my new home, but I am adjusting. Momma needs to work on me with my step ups, I'm not very good with them. I like shoulders, but no one seems to want me to go up there yet. I bit mom three times yesterday. I was sitting by her chest and she was getting up to get something, but she scared me and a bit her neck. Then when she tried to get my beaky off I bit her finger and the back of her head. I didn't bite her that hard, but I did make her bleed a little bit. She has a nice mark and bruise on her neck, but she's okay. She said she's not mad at me. I really like destroying stuff (as expected)! I've almost destroyed a whole toy in my cage, and I've also destroyed many finger traps, lolly pop sticks, and a ball. hehe! Mommy made birdie for me (And I guess those other birds that I'm not allowed to play with). It has red, orange and yellow bell peppers, strawberries, almonds, and flax seed in it. I really like bread, so it's a good way for me to eat that other stuff! I also talk! I can say Hi Jester, Hi, Jester, I love you, and mommy thinks she heard me say pretty bird. I also laugh, bark, and blow kisses! I have two voices, a really deep one that a mumble stuff with, and a really adorable one that I say most of my words with. Mom says she'll have to get a video of me talking, it's so sweet!

Happy Friday pretty baby
A little dark this morning, but hopefully that will change - mom wanted to put flowers in her planters on the deck but it got cold again. Maybe next weekend :) Instead I'm hoping she'll play with me all weekend !

Angel Christy and I want to thank each of you for your kind words of support for our Angel Wings Toy Shoppe, we were so afraid we wouldn't be able to get it reinstalled, but many of you sent notes and emails on our behalf, your voices were heard and we have our beloved Toy Shoppe back where it belongs. New library aquisitions

1. Best Friends by Samantha Glen. The story of a sanctuary for animals that was founded in the mid 1980s and built from the ground up by a group of friends. Most of the stories feature furballs, but check out their website at www.bestfriends.org. and see they do care for birds as well.
2. The library has a copy of Birds on the Couch: The Bird Shrink's Guide to Keeping Polly from going Crackers and you out of the Cuckoo's Nest by Ruth Hanessian. It's a fun lil book with lil anecdotes. Enjoyable stories of bird owners' experiences with their pets.
3. Song of the Dodo, by David Quammen, is about island biogeography and is very interesting.
4. The Reluctant Mr. Darwin, by the same author, discusses Charles Darwin's personality and why it took him so long to publish his theory. He was nearly upstaged by another scientist!
5. Beak of the Finch, talks about the work among the Galapagos finches going on today.
6. Some light reading: any Inspector Brunetti mystery by Donna Leon. She sets her stories in Venice, Italy, so the setting is great and the plots have unusual twists in them at times.

8. There's an author named Donna Andrews who does mysteries written kind of humorously, and all of them have bird names: The Real Macaw, Cockatiels at Seven, etc. Any of them makes a fun and quick read.
9. And Chloe would like to recommend a picture book for parrots called "Polly Wants a Poem!". It is a cute book of poetry and prose just for us parrots that our parronts can read to us and it has pictures of real birdies in it for us to look at, I know this cause my frother Simon is in the book twice and Taz is in once. It was written by Bob Morrow, he has published hundreds of poems for children but until he found himself sharing his home with Harley (CAG) who quickly converted him to parrot fan. A portion of each sale is donated to The Alex Foundation. Pictures of the book can be found on my page.

Punkin grabs her wings and they dance around. thank you so much for helping me become BOTD! You could have knocked me over with a finch feather! It didn't even register with mom until Ipo jumped up and down on her shoulder and pointing said THAT'S PUNKIN!!!! hehehe What a wonderful surprise. I just wish my fister were still here to enjoy it with me. I miss Sidney very much.

Dad could hardly find the feeders to put the seed in this morning and mom doesn't want to make her whole 5 mile commute ! YIKES !
Today's book choice is all for us my friends - not for the parronts ! I have my own personal copy of this book that I like to "read" while mom is reading her books. Was your weather yesterday just rain ? We had snow turning to ice - mom was home by 11:00 ! We had a wonderful afternoon playing :)
Another story of a human-bird relationship - SHARING A ROBIN'S LIFE by Linda Johns is the true story of a robin named County who chose to share life with the author after being rescued as a fledgling. Although County is a free flying house bird, the author tries to give her as close to a natural life as possible. This includes nest building, foraging for food and egg laying. Marvelous !

I'm Romeo, thank you for your note on my page, I have to say it again you are very pretty with all those splashes of pink, you can tell your just a baby..I've been with Mom since I was 7 months old, now I'm 8, I've never known any other home, and hope I never have to..My Mom would have a house full of Cockatoo's if she had to room, she thinks we get a bad rap for squawking but that's not the case at all. I can tell anyone, we're the most sensitive loving and cuddly birds anyone could have..If I'm not being too presumptuous could you share with us something about yourself, personality, traits, I'm not as familiar with the Rose Breasted Cockatoo, just that your one of the prettiest I've seen. Mom is home cause of the snow we're getting ! They let the schools out early so we're visiting :) Are you getting bad weather too or are you too far south ?
Today's book was a favorite when mom was teaching 2nd grade (now she's in 4th) :
One last children's picture book - TERRIFIC by Jon Agee is about Eugene Mudge, a pessimistic old curmudgeon. He wins a free trip to Bermuda and of course everything goes wrong ! He ends up shipwrecked on a deserted island with a broken winged parrot named Lenny. Lenny's help and friendship end up being the catalyst for Eugene's transformation and rescue ! Great illustrations too !
