 My sister Ashley owned two parakeets (Tweeti and Sweeti) whom I would frequently pet-sit. I absolutely loved their presence so much, I told my sister I would keep them for my own. Then came Christmas of 2011 in suburban Illinois. The temperature wasn't typical due to the 70 degree weather and I just came home with my formerly hospitalized mother. We settled down in the house waiting for Ashley and her fiance Bryon's arrival. Finally I hear the slam of Bryon's car door and I head downstairs to see if they've brought Tweeti and Sweeti. So I take a peek out the window and see Bryon open the back door of his Sedan for Ashley and low and behold, Ashley's carrying a covered cage. I immediately open up the door for her and as she walks up the stairs to put up the cage, I stop her to take the cage for myself. Before I turn around, she stops me and takes off the cover saying "Merry Christmas Alisa!", I was so speechless and amazed and I'm actually surprised I didn't drop the cage, "His name is Cinnamon because Bryon and I knew how much you loved cinnamon." From then on, he was the nicest, sweetest, and friendliest bird I have ever known. I could never replace him and I know that nothing could ever replace the bond him and I share.. |
