Hello every birdie, it is SKY with this weeks SPOTLIGHT on CARING with my goofy, fun loving buddies Polly, and Zippy and their Momma Karen
SKY; When did you first become interested in birds? How did you become a bird owner?
Momma Karen; My grandmother had a pair of budgies that she allowed free in the house when I was young. They would go to her and 'talk' with her, imitate and call the outdoor birds. Grandma also fed the outdoor birds and would have jays and other birds sit on her as she offered them seeds. Seeing the different birds going to her is what started my interest.
Sky; Please tell us all, when did you first join Bird Channel? Polly; Momma joined B.C. in 2008.

SKY; How are you involved with birds in general? Momma Karen; I just talk about birds all the time in the various social settings I find myself in.
Sky; Momma Karen, could you tell us about the birds in your life, both past & present?
Momma Karen ;As a child I had a budgie that I had purchased from a dime store. Somehow it ended up with mites, I think. This was back in the 1960s, so there was no vet care and I was very ignorant. The poor thing died when I was on vacation with my family. He was well tended by the before mentioned grandmother. After my 5th human child, the family wanted a pet. Friends were breeding budgies at that time and gave us one for me taking care of the birds (and mice, and rabbits) while they were on vacation. I learned about the sensitivity of their breathing with this one. I moved our 'pet' back into the family space too soon after spraying for lice—we were having great difficulty getting rid of lice. About the time Orion died, Loki was hatched. The same friends let us have a 'replacement'. Still learning about avian vets, Loki lived for 8 years, but died because of a tumor. We had not found an avian vet.

On the first day of creation, God created the parrot.

On the second day, God created man to serve the parrot.

On the third day, God created all the vegetables and nuts of the earth to serve as potential food for the parrot.

On the fourth day, God created honest toil so that man could labor for the good of the parrot.

On the fifth day, God created cables and ropes so that the parrot could chew through them

On the sixth day, God created veterinary science to keep the parrot healthy and the man broke.

On the seventh day, God tried to rest, but He had to clean the parrot cages...

Anything and everything is liable to be called "GOOD BIRD!!"

* including spouses, dogs, cats, and children

RUDE PARROT

A young man named Jon received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.

Jon tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally Jon was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. Jon shook the parrot and the parrot got even angrier and ruder.

Jon in desperation threw up his hands and grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then, suddenly there was total quiet, not a peep was heard.

Fearing that he had hurt the parrot, Jon quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto Jon's outstretched arm and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I am sincerely remorseful for any inappropriate behavior."

"I fully intend to do everything I can do to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior".

Jon was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. He was about to ask the parrot why he had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, but the bird continued... "May I ask what the turkey did?"

How are u sweetie? Well, mom did it AGAIN! She hasn't sent my blogs out in over a week! She has been busy doing spring cleaning, scrubbing everything down & putting winter stuff away & getting out the summer stuff! It's a slow & tiring task for mom! She said it would go a little faster if she didn't have a large bird sitting on her hand! I disagree tho...how can I make sure she's doing it correctly if I'm not right in the middle of everything?!

GUARD PARROT

A postal carrier is working on a new street. He comes to a garden gate marked BEWARE OF THE PARROT! He looks down the garden and, sure enough, there's a parrot sitting on its perch. He has a little chuckle to himself at the sign and the parrot there on its perch. The mailman opens the gate and walks into the garden. He gets as far as the parrot's perch, when suddenly, it calls out: "REX, ATTACK!"

DAY 29 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
THE FUNERAL part 2
A few days after my aunt passed away, my dad phoned his brother from America to look after me and my siblings while he and my mom go to Lebanon. My uncle, the oldest one in the family was saddened too, he was upset to hear that my aunt passed away. While my dad and my mom were in Lebanon Beruit, the first thing my dad did was go to the hospital to see his sister. My aunt was going to be buried beside my dad’s dad and his other family members. So he and his sister and my mom went to maghara, our home town to bury my aunt. Many people in maghara were glad to see my parents since it’s been a long while since they left Lebanon but saddened by the news too. My great aunts and other family members who I got to meet in Lebanon didn’t know my aunt was suffering from breast cancer. They were shocked and in tears to hear the news. So at the funeral, my dad saw his father’s grave and my mom for the first time saw her dad’s grave. We are all glad that my aunt is in peace now and with god. My mom saw her in her dream happy and in peace. After the funeral, my parents were happy to see their family again. Reunited once again, and my dad finally went to his old home and were his grandfather lived long ago. One day we would move to our home our big land when I have graduated from university. And because of our huge piece of land in maghara, I will be able to set a huge aviary of different parrots and help stop the endangering of the hyacinth macaws. THE END.

DAY 28
THE FUNERAL part 1
Since my travel back home to Canada, my dad has been making lots of calls to my aunt who was looking after their sister. She was getting worse each day. My cousin was getting very worried and hoped the hospital had bed available for my aunt to get in. Then in the middle of may, my aunt finally got an available bed. She spent a 2 or 3 weeks in the hospital and my dad was paying for her health. Then the doctors called and talked to my aunt and told my dad that my aunt was in critical condition. My cousins and aunt were praying for my aunt to be ok and make it through the disease. When our family here heard that she was in critical condition, and she was in a coma, my mom’s family came over to our house to pray and hope that god would help my aunt from the suffering and pain she was feeling. My uncle was reading the quran aloud, and my 2 grandmothers, my aunt and dad were both in tears praying for my aunt to make it through. It was very sad, i never saw my dad cry before because he was a man and never showed his tears. But this situation was different, I cried too, seeing my family cry and my aunt in critical condition, and was very sad and sorrow. Suddenly, I remembered having a dream months ago, were I saw my aunt in the hospital bed and my aunt beside her. Then I cried even more when I was starting to feel my aunt wouldn’t make it. Then, while me and my siblings were asleep and dad was still awake with my mom to hear from the doctor. A call came from Lebanon and my mom answered it. Doctor: “ I am sorry to report but with deepest symphonies, your sister in law has passed away this morning.” I woke in the middle of the night, then I saw my family who was still here. Apparently they came back as soon as they heard the news. I didn’t know what to do but feel sad for dad and cry. I was worried that my grandmother would get a heart attack, hearing that her first daughter has passed away. My dad said that my aunt was a good sister when he was young, she cared and looked after me. I loved her very much. On May 29 2012, the day my aunt died. My dad hasn’t seen her for 23 years, but he was glad that I got to see my aunt and made her very happy because she loved me very much. My cousins, the youngest one out of them, was very shocked and was in tears. She loved her mother so much, and I felt very bad for her. My oldest cousin went to the hospital to find out what happen with taking my other cousin because she knew her sister would collapse seeing what happened. To be continued……

DAY 27 ~ CANT WAIT FOR THE GRAND OPENING!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 8
After a couple days, my dad kept on paying for my aunt’s health. Unfortunately there were still no beds available in the hospital. My aunt was getting worse each day, lying down on the couch with pain coming from her lump on her chest. Then I gave the laptop my dad bought for my other aunt as a present. I got the skype working on the laptop and skyped my dad so my aunts and cousins could see him. My aunt was surprised by this technology, and my other aunt didn’t want to be seen on skype by my dad because she didn’t want him to worry more about her since she was in bad condition. We also got to visit my grandma’s sister, she was new to me but apparently she saw me last time when I came to Lebanon when I was 3. Then she came and gave me a present. It was a gold bracelet, I was really happy and wore it on my wrist and didn’t take it off. Then at the end of my last day in Lebanon, I wanted to have meat pie in the morning, so my aunt ordered meat pie but my other aunt, who was happy that I came to visit and check on her wanted meat pie too. I was surprised and happy we enjoyed it very much. Then we had to head back to Canada and I said goodbye to my two aunts and cousins. I was sad to leave because I was going to miss them, and I hoped that my aunt would be able to get in the hospital soon. And so me and my grandma and my aunt left to Canada. Next the funeral, to be continued…..

DAY 26 ~ READ MORE AT CAMPAIGN PAGE!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 7
In the morning, me and my oldest went and had coffee at second cup. Then we went to this really good Italian ice cream shop called Gino's Gelateria. The ice cream there was really great and I really loved it. I never tried gelato ice cream before and it was really delicious! You get to pick 2 scoops of different flavours and put it on a cone or you can have it in a cup with even more flavours. I went to home to rest and check on my aunt, she was happy that I loved coming to her room and seeing her. Well still no call from the doctors and were hoping and praying there would be a bed available. Then at night me and my two cousins went to the pub and had non-alcohol drinks. It was nice and had music. It was safer to go to a pub in Lebanon; I heard that there was a law that banned all types of drugs here. After that, we headed home and I got dressed in my pj’s and went to watch a tv series with my aunts and cousins. To be continued…..

Spotlight on Caring -Taz part 7
Sky here with our last blogs with the Proctor flock. I must say I have dearly enjoyed learning all about this well known B.C. flock. SKY; Please continue, Mom Gail; SUZIQ was the next member of the flock. She came from the same bird store as Scooby. We used to visit there fairly often and buy food there as well. Suzi was a sweet bird and used to live with the owner's wife but then after nine months she decided that she did want to sell her so Burt bought her for me to try and ease the pain of losing Xena, I was not ready for a grey and didn’t know if I ever would be. Suzi still is a beautiful and sweet girl who loves her me and only me. Suzi does like to lay eggs a lot. I have had her checked out to make sure her calcium levels were okay and they were, I also make sure that she gets enough calcium in her diet. Ekkies are also very sensitive with regards to their diets. They don't do well with a lot of additives in their food or with pellets; they need a nice fresh food diet. They also have a tendency to toe tapping and wing flapping usually due to an excess of additives in their diet or stress can also be the cause. Suzi did start to toe tap and wing flap years ago and I had to play detective to try and figure out what was causing this as she was not on any pellets or other type of bird food and there didn't seem to be any cause for stress either. After a lot of research I decided my only recourse was to do an elimination diet for her. I took away all food except peas to start with until she quit and if she didn't start up again after a few days I added another vegetable which was carrots...all well there but when I added corn well Suzi started up again, mom took it away and after three days she quit again. The only food to cause an issue was corn so no more corn for her ever. If she gets a little bit of corn cause she gets the wrong bowl the toe tapping and wing flapping come right back. No corn and all is well.
CHLOE is next to join, I was still missing having a grey around the house so Burt looked through the papers and found Chloe in a neighboring state. I talked to Chloe's mom through e-mails and we met them to pick her up and take her home. Chloe has been and is a joy to have around; she decided that she liked her dad best even though she was a Mother's Day present for mom. She is a good talker and has lots of sounds, some that she makes up. She loves to sing.
SIMON came to join us the following year. I always wanted a B&G macaw and so back to the papers for Burt. He spotted Simon in a neighboring state as well. We took the drive to see him. When we got there, we were let in to a very dark house where all the blinds were drawn and there was another macaw in the back screaming with a blanket over the cage

Spotlight on Caring Taz part 7b
As soon as Simon saw us he let out a really loud and friendly Hi, and as soon as we walked in we knew he was coming home with us no matter what. He has been a challenge for sure and I got bitten quite a few times in the beginning. He does not like men at all, in the 12 years he has been here that has not changed. He is a momma's boy and he has anger issues but I have figured him out pretty good now so I rarely get bitten unless I cause it by not paying attention. He is a very sweet bird in his own right. He loves being held and loved; I call him my cockatoo in a blue suit. My heart melts when he looks up at me and says "I love you", just like a guy. CHICA flew into our lives when her previous owner decided that he couldn't care for her anymore so he gave her to me. When Chica first came to live her she didn't like to be touched very much. She used to eat absolutely everything in sight until her bowl was empty. She gained quite a few grams now she is starting to enjoy being preened and held. It has taken time and patience so it is so nice to see her enjoying herself. She has learned a lot of new words from Simon and she has the most infectious laugh that it is impossible not to laugh with her.
PEARL was a beautiful little cockatiel. Burt saw her in a pet store, he really needs to stay away from those places, and brought her home. This was shortly after Tweety passed away. She was a sweetie and was sitting on Burt’s shoulder a few days after getting here and laid two eggs, she never laid anymore after that. She was with us for a few years and then got sick, we tried hard to save her but eventually she just couldn't stay with us anymore. It seemed as if she had turned the corner and was doing better but the next morning she was gone. She is buried in our back yard in the flowers. Miss you little girl. NAPOLEON joined us next. In case you didn't guess by now, I love greys. A lady in the bird club wanted to find a home for him and while at the meeting Napoleon and I were bonding so Burt talked to the lady and Napoleon was mine. They brought him over with his cage that evening. Napoleon is a wonderful companion and a wonderful bird. Napoleon is a sweet and loving bird who loves to give me kisses. He is constantly learning new words but won’t talk in front of Burt, when Burt leaves the room he starts talking or if he is with mom he talks…of course he doesn't like Burt or men for that matter. I am now complete...I have my grey...

How are u sweetie? Mom only got a few blogs out yesterday, so she's sending the same blog with some new added to it! Mom got her cortisone injections in both of her shoulders yesterday, which she gets every 3 months. She usually gets some relief almost instantly, but her right shoulder actually feels worse today! Mom also went to her granddaughter's preschool graduation last evening! I had an exciting day today! It was mom's granddaughter Olivia's last day of preschool, & I got to go! Most of Livi's classmates came running up to mom at the graduation last night, very excited that I'm coming to their class today! Mom takes me to the preschool classes there every year, & I love seeing all the kids as much as they love seeing me! The only difficult part of any excursions, is mom getting me back into my carrier!

Mom is doing good today, but her nose is very sore! Mom has been giving me belly kisses for nearly 16 yrs, without incident! It's swollen on the right side & a bit bruised, even tho the damage was done on the inside! Because my nails & toes are so long, most of the damage was 2 inches down in the nasal cavity! The ER Doc said it was a good thing mom had previously had her adenoids removed, coz my nails would have destroyed the right one! Mom has to be rechecked in 2 weeks, or immediately if she starts bleeding again! She had to be cauterized in 4 different places & has to take an antibiotic! Mom said that the scariest part of having my toes stuck up her nose, was that she was very afraid my 2 toes would end up broken...mom was very relieved that my toes are absolutely fine! Mom refers to this incident as "NoseGate 2013"!
Mom doesn't want anyone to think that the ER Nurses & Docs were being discourteous, they were not! They were picturing a tiny pet bird, like a Budgie, not a large Macaw! Mom showed them a pic of me, they weren't expecting me to be so big! When mom said "Be glad I got her loose before I came in"! That's when they started laughing!

How are u sweetie? I didn't do my blogging yesterday, mom & I were involved in a bizarre, freak accident early yesterday afternoon! I was unscathed, but mom wasn't as lucky...she's fine now, but very sore!

When mom is holding me, I like her to kiss my belly! She kissed me on my birdie nose, then I told her KISS BAAALLY! At the same time she raised me up, I lifted my left leg, & somehow, my front 2 toes slipped into mom's right nostril & GOT STUCK! Of course I'm past due for a nail trim & my nails are extra long & very sharp! I was struggling to get my toes free & mom was howling in pain! Thinking it was a game, I quit struggling & started squealing! Mom gently grabbed my foot & turned her head & my toes came out!
My poor mom was gushing blood! She grabbed paper towels to try to control the bleeding, got me to step up onto her cane, squirted my foot, put me in my cage, & took off for the emergency room! To make matters worse, they couldn't help laughing when mom told them how the injury occurred! That was a story that they NEVER heard before! Mom spent 3 hrs at the emergency room & had to have her nostril cauterized! Mom is fine, but her nose is very sore! I don't think that I'll be getting belly kisses anytime soon!

How are u sweetie? Nothing much happened here today, except mom stayed home all day! We had a beautiful day of 78! I spent a lot of time outside today, but didn't get to drive my car, coz I don't really like to be out in the direct sun! Mom swears that I can smell when rain is coming, coz when it got real cloudy & looked like it would rain, I started freaking out & wouldn't let her take me off the porch! I ran up her arm & scrambled onto her back & told her NOOOOO, I hold on to mom's shirt, pant, & gently flap my wings, while on her back...mom calls it my rain dance I wouldn't get off her back & onto her hand until she went back inside! Mom calls Mom told me it was not raining, but I wasn't taking her word about it! I DO NOT like OUTSIDE shower baths!

DAY 17 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA'S LIFE part 9

After leaving Montreal to go home, I started researching on the Internet about lovebirds. When I was done, I decided to buy a lovebird. My dad told me I could buy one from kijiji. So the type of lovebird I chose was fischers lovebird. I looked all over kijiji but none of them lived closer to my area. So I decided to pick another type of lovebirds. The next one I chose was the peach-faced lovebird then I did research. I went one kijiji and found a bird breeder who was breeding lovebirds and budgies. She had 2 lovebirds that we're coupled, the green one was 5 months and the yellow one was 4 months. I somehow got dad to get me two birds instead of one. So we contacted the lady and went to her house. It was long trip to me to get to neapean. When we got there, the house had noisy chirping birds. The lady was handfeeding a lovebird! It was so cute and adorable. She showed me around then she showed me the two lovebirds. I brought the cage with me to the two birds inside. The lady asked "What are you going to name your new birds?" Since the green one was a boy and he reminded me of super Mario, I named him Luigi. The yellow one who was a girl, I named her Angel, because she was yellow with white flight and rump feathers so it reminded me of the sun. To be continued.....

How are u sweetie? Actually, it wasn't too bad being stuck in my cage, still covered & in the dark til 2:30 yesterday. Before bedtime Tuesday night, mom hung in my cage, the last one of Uncle Chuck's world-famous toys! The one that had my name spelled out...TIAMARIA! Mom is going to post a pic of what's left of my toy in my gallery! I worked it over good! So at least I had something fun to do during my unscheduled confinement period! Thanks again sweet Uncle Chuck, my toys were awesome & I thoroughly enjoyed them!

I am thoroughly enjoying mom's guilt trip! She can't do enough for me today! She's waiting on me beak & foot...even more than usual & doing & playing everything that I want to do! She even said I was having sketties & mandarin oranges for dinner! The few hours of solitary confinement was definitely worth it...considering the VIP treatment I'm receiving today! Plus, SHE hasn't left MY side all day! It was an EXCELLENT day to be me! Can't wait til the NEXT time mom screws up! Hehehe!

We've been having lovely weather here...84 yesterday, 80 today, mid 70s-80 for the next week! 40% chance of thunder BOOMS Wednesday, & 50% Thursday!

DAY 12 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 4
After moving in to our new house, my grandpa was becoming ill unfortunately. He lived with us along with my grandma, they were my dad’s parents. Moreover, my other grandpa got cancer, he wasn’t in great condition. The last time I visited him is when I was 2 years. I still remember that I was at the door and my family was around me, and he knelt down and picked me up and put me on his lap. But sadly, my grandpa , my mother’s dad, died at the age 60. It made her mother very sad and for him to die at 60. Then my other grandpa who lived with me was becoming so ill that he couldn’t walk the stairs anymore, and he would barf on the stairs. I still remember those happenings when I was 3 years. I saw my grandpa die on the bed, and my grandma calling my mother who called my dad. Grandma was crying, and dad ran upstairs seeing that his father died. It was really sad, and even at 3 years I had no idea what was going on and I wanted to come into the room but they didn’t let me in. I saw everything, my grandfather died at the age of 81. Shortly after dad arrived to the scene, the funeral car came into our garage and families were coming to visit. I didn’t understand what was happening but I saw strange people put my grandpa into the car. They were going to bury him in Lebanon where my other passed close family members were buried. The same thing happened with my other grandpa, and I know mom was really saddened to see her father passed away. Me, I didn’t know what was like to have a grandpa. I know that my grandmas are still alive now, and the one living with me is the one who I care for the most. She raised me and looked after me since I was born, and seeing her die will make it so hard on me, she is my everything. My family is my everything. My grandma now at 87, still active and looking after my younger siblings to help my mom when she is at work and she cooks great food too hamdilah, thank god. To be continued…..

Bentley here with a rather tardy thank you for the note of congrats you stopped by with when I was BOTD. Thanks too for the compliment on my crown. I rather enjoyed wearing it, but I will confess that it was a real challenge to fly with that thing on.

Looks like a congratulations is in order on your win of the Derby hat contest. You look very sharp in that top hat. Bet you were turning the ladies heads left and right!

DAY 11 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 3
In the beginning, I had friends at school who were mostly guys, I really wasn’t the type who played with girls since I had more of an interest of imagining and playing pretend. Eventually in grade 2, most of the guy friends I had left me because of new student who came to our school. He was more of an immature boy, and the guys liked him, and that boy was a bully too. He was in my class, always rude and making others laugh because of his immaturity to get the teacher mad. Unfortunately, I was always discouraged to participate in class activities. He always wanted to start problems with me when I participated. When I went to make friends with the girls, they told me, why don’t you go play with your other boy friends? Well I couldn’t, plus I felt they didn’t like me either. I grew up and more independent and finally after grade 6, the teachers decide to separate me and that boy and put us in separate classes for grade 7. Since new kids were coming from other schools for grade 7, I thought I had an opportunity to make new friends. But sadly, even though I hung out with them, they started disliking me because rumors were being spread about me. Well I still walked around that soccer field but I didn’t let these things bring me down, I had to focus and continue on. My mother who always was mad and sad for when I was discouraged and had no friends and same with my father and grandma, they told me that they always talked to the principle everyday to resolve these problems while I was in school. I never knew that to be honest, and I was glad they put their efforts into dealing with the teachers. In my last year of grade 8 at the end of our school year, those boys who left me, came and told me they regretted what they did and that they wish they hadn’t been so mean to me. I was so touched and happy and they told me that they were going to miss me. We hug and had our moments of crying. When highschool came, mother prayed to god that I would make new friends, and I did, hamdilah. I was so happy and they were true friends. I loved them so much and we cared for each other. These were the best friends I had and thanks to them, I had the best birthday ever this year. To be continued…….

To our BC family, I sincerely thank u for all the sympathy & condolences we received at this difficult time. It really touched our hearts. Chloe was a cherished family member. She was a Pitt-wire haired terrier mix with a gentle heart & soul. She fiercely loved mom & the 3 grandkids, & would have given her life for them. My sweet Chloe, I will always love u & forever miss u. RIP my sweet Angel. Chloe: 5/6/04 - 5/6/13.

DAY 10 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 2
After I was born, me and my parents stayed at our apartment for 4 months. My parents finally bought a home in a new neighbourhood that was under construction. Furthermore, me, my parents, my grandparents who also lived in the apartment moved to our new home and a new neighbourhood. My aunt was already married and stayed at the apartment with her husband. So I was one of the first kids in the neighbourhood. The street was still dirt but then later on it was covered with cement. Moreover, we had the first tree planted in front of our house; it was a pine tree, around my age. At first that cute little tree that looked like a bush grew as I was growing too. My brother came along, a year younger than me, it was only the two of us. When I was 6, my brother’s new friends from kindergarden lived on the same street as us. It was a surprise and every single day we would beg our parents or even tell one another to call us so our parents would let us play outside. That is how we became childhood friends, and I even noticed by the time I was 9, I was taller than the average students and so was my tree! It grew taller than my house, it sure had a growth spurt! Sadly at school, I really didn’t have any true friends except the ones I always played with after school who lived on our street. It was the same thing everyday, walking around the soccer field at recess with nothing but my wild imagination. To be continued…..

Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6
Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much.
Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom GAil. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it.

To all my dear friends, I won't be on the BC the next few days, other than to give Luigi his BOTM vote. Mom's heart is very heavy with grief. Our dog Chloe crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning around 10am. Chloe was a wonderful dog & she & mom loved each other very much. She will be greatly missed. Chloe was diagnosed with lung cancer a month ago. Today, May 6th, was her 9th birthday.

How are u sweetie? Not much happening here today! Mom was busy doing things so I thought I'd follow her around & help her! My plan worked beautifully...she scooped me up & took me outside to drive my car! It looks like I'll get to go outside everyday this week! The weather guessers are calling for thunderstorms Saturday, but it's looking pretty good until then! I love to take a shower, but for some reason I freak out when I get rained on!

How are u sweetie? Sorry I've been AWOL these last few days! Mom had one of her delightful cluster migraines that lasted for 5 days! She's starting to feel human again, but feels like she received a lobotomy!

It's such a beautiful day here! For the next week the temps will be in the 70s with no rain in sight! YAYYYYY! I'll get plenty of car driving time! I have been getting plenty of fruits & veggies, but now since mom is feeling a little better, she'll cook some meals for me again! I think she'll make spaghetti today, coz for the last 3 days I've been saying "eat sketties"!
