he was living in a very bad home situation where he was never allowed out of his cage and had no human interaction (hince the problem with stepping up on my finger) so i rescued him and feel completley in love with my baby boy. hes now a veryy loving little guy and trusts me but does not trust my finger..but he does LOVE his neck rubbed as well as the rest of his body. Hi! My name is nikko

I am a Nanday Conure from kingsland, GA.

8 years old   M

Nanday Conure

he loves sun flower seeds, but im having a problem with him not wanting to eat the small seeds and corn..hes a very picky eater

he loves his toys and favorite perch

he's very snippy when i try to put my finger in the cage and ask him to "step up"...ive had him for 3 months and tried all the tips to get him to step up but he still refuses, hes veryyy stubborn:/

shes sweet, loving and only wants the best for me. I get treats all the time and my mama working on getting me back to my normal weight since i was so under fed at my old home.

Hi Nikko's mom, I'm not on here much at all, but if you'd like to friend me on facebook, my name is Rachael Elizabeth Heller. My profile picture is of my daughter and I. To answer your question, I have a Nansun (Nanday/Sun Conure hybrid) that doesn't like to step up either. I have to wrap my hand around his back and pry him off cage bars or perches to get him out, but once he's out he's completely fine. Still not keen on stepping up, but we're working on it. He does best with it when he's away from his cage, so perhaps you should try that. I practice having him step up from hand to hand, setting him down, and having him step back up again. It's a long process for sure, but after each time that he does well, reward him with a treat. Again, feel free to add me on facebook, I'm not on here much at all and you'll have a much better chance contacting me there :)

Rachael, Grand Rapids, MI.
