he was living in a very bad home situation where he was never allowed out of his cage and had no human interaction (hince the problem with stepping up on my finger) so i rescued him and feel completley in love with my baby boy. hes now a veryy loving little guy and trusts me but does not trust my finger..but he does LOVE his neck rubbed as well as the rest of his body. |

Hi Nikko's mom, I'm not on here much at all, but if you'd like to friend me on facebook, my name is Rachael Elizabeth Heller. My profile picture is of my daughter and I. To answer your question, I have a Nansun (Nanday/Sun Conure hybrid) that doesn't like to step up either. I have to wrap my hand around his back and pry him off cage bars or perches to get him out, but once he's out he's completely fine. Still not keen on stepping up, but we're working on it. He does best with it when he's away from his cage, so perhaps you should try that. I practice having him step up from hand to hand, setting him down, and having him step back up again. It's a long process for sure, but after each time that he does well, reward him with a treat. Again, feel free to add me on facebook, I'm not on here much at all and you'll have a much better chance contacting me there :) Come visit me, Babe, Maverick & Shaira, Rico, Kiwi, Rocky, Silly, Ichigo & Benny.
