Hi Lars,
here i am again at long last! Mum just posted new pics.
She made a cute new doggie, a blue headed pionus, a hyacinth macaw, a golden conure, even an octopus & an Indian ring neck. She's also made a new female ekkie & believe it or not, a pink pig with some piglets & a baby seal, but no pictures of them yet. Did you mean the moluccan too looking like a real bird? He's mum's master piece!
Our nice warm weather has finally come to an end. It is down right cold now, with a very stiff breeze blowing, but the water is still surprisingly warm (she just had a swim) but she says when you come out, you better hurry into the hot shower. Hope you'll have a nice w/e.

So good to hear from you. We think about all y'all often and are always happy when you stop by. Please take good care of your mom. I'll make sure Athena stops by Nippy's page so we cover all the bases!!
Mom just decided to hang around the house today which worked out great for us, more out of cage time! She's trying to gain a little energy so she will be ready for the grands arrival on Wednesday next week. A 6 1/2 and a 5 year old who are very active will be keeping her busy, busy, busy. Sure hope we'll get some mom time AND blog time - we like her grands and all, but those little ankle biters sure eat up a lot of her time - lol!

Our first game is this coming Thursday, May 16th, against the Cracker Jack Conures! If you need to get to the field early and practice, please let us know. I'm sure there are others that need the practice as well.

Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6
Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much.
Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom Gail. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it.

Hi Lars buddy
Zeena here to visit and wish a wonderful weekend for you and your family. I have been busy working out for the up-coming bazeball season and haven't been around to see all my new friends lately. For this I do apologize.
To make for it, I was busy in the kitchen with Momma Deb today. We made popcorn balls on wooden Popsicle sticks and coated some with a little honey glaze to which I sprinkled crushed peanuts, walnuts or almonds. I also made some of my famous fruit chewy bars with wholewheat flour, fresh rolled oats--I love that old guy on the box, eggs, peanuts, almonds, cashews and of course tons to diced fruits; strawberries, raspberries, oranges, apples, and more. While it baked in the oven for 25 minutes I eat several popcorn treats. I wanted to be sure that they'd be just right for all my friends.
I hope you enjoy your snacks. I think I'll have to have a BBQ soon and have you all over for chicken wings, burgers and salads
etc. GOTTA have cake> I LOVE CAKE. YUMMY

I'm almost at the end of my April Derby blogs.
DAY 25
Racing Terms:
Backside - a racetrack’s barn or stable area.
Backstretch - The straight part of the track on the far side between turns.
Card - the day’s races.
Dark Day - a day when the track does not race.
Furlong - one-eighth of a mile, 220 yards, or 660 feet.
Gate - a metal set of stalls into which the horses are loaded and confined until the doors are opened simultaneously at the start of each race.
Hands - A horse’s height is measured in hands. One hand is 4 inches. Thoroughbreds are typically 15 to17 hands from the ground to the withers.
Hot Walker - person who walks a horse after a race or workout to cool him down. It is usually 30 to 60 minutes.
Live Mount - A horse that has a very good chance to win.
Maiden - A horse that has never won a race (male or female).
Paddock - The area where the horses are saddled and paraded around before post time.
Post Parade - Horses going from the paddock to the starting gate (post) parading past the grandstands.
Thoroughbred - Horses bred for racing that can trace their lineage back to the three original sires: Darley Arabian, Godolphin Arabian, and Byerley Turk.
Wire to Wire - When a horse is in front from the gate to the finish line.

Hi Lars
How are u sweetie? It's such a beautiful day! The sun brightly shining, but on the cool side! But warmer days are definitely in sight...67 Sat & Sun, then low 70s thru Thursday! I'll definitely be able to go outside & drive my car! Sorry we haven't been blogging the last 2 days, mom hasn't been feeling well. Mom goes for her yearly brain MRI tomorrow morning, my toesies are crossed that she hasn't developed too many new lesions!
Mom brought home lots of yummy things from the grocery store, now I need to send her into the kitchen & start cooking! She's making haluski (fried noodles & cabbage) today, & steamed broccoli! Yum...I love any type of pasta & broccoli is my favorite veggie! Mom gives me raw hunks of the stalks & I eat the delicious middles! She brought home a bag of Granny Smith Apples (my favorite apple) & I spied a few cans of mandarin oranges! I don't know why she didn't open them up, she knows they are my favorite! Maybe I'll get some & some sliced apple for dessert today!
