Hi Calliope Welcome to BC. You can visit me by clicking on my name in CAPITAL letters below. I'm the King Sky mentioned in the other blog below. If you need any help making friends etc or getting around on here let me know. I write a weekly blog-editorial on other BC flocks/birds here's this weeks issue SKY January 2nds Spotlight on Caring Hello, and Happy New Year to all my birdie friends and their parronts. Today, as promised I will continue part 2 of the interview with Tanya Stark and Joshua. Sky: I understand that after Hurricane Katrina in 2008, you rescued a Cockatoo about to be evicted from it's home due to noise? Joshua: Yes, Momma Tanya received a call from her Vet ( DR Karen Dashfield) about a large Cockatoo owned by an elderly lady that was making so much noise the owner faced eviction. So right after work Momma drove over to get it. She didn't even know what species it was until she got home. It was so dark in the apartment. Sky: That was Doo Doo was it not? Joshua: Yes but Momma and Dad changed it to DOO Diligence. He is Mom's lovable feather ball, and very sweet. Doo was wild caught too. SKY: I understand that sadly an accident occurred in that same year? Joshua: Yes, Elvis escaped from his cage when the food door port lock was accidiently left open. Momma went downstairs for only a minute and when she returned, Elvis had George by the throat. Momma tried CPD but George's neck was broken. She took it hard and blamed herself for a long time. She had researched inter-bird aggression but Elvis seemed to have it in for George from the start. Sky: What did your Momma Tanya learn from all this? Joshua: How to understand and read flock aggression and social behavior. Sky: When did your fister Miranda join the flockily? Joshua: In 2009, when Momma Tanya had Elvis on her shoulder at the Vets a lady asked her to take her. The owner raised Borzi dogs and she felt she needed a better quality of life. Miranda was Mom's dream bird but she chose our Dad Steve. She's a daddy's girl. SKY: IS there any more you'd like to share with us Josh? Joshua: A number of Cockatiels joined us as did a Goffin Cockatoo. The most upsetting rescue came about when Mom was told of a Conure whose male parront threatened to throw him against the wall. That's STARBUCK. HE is on BC with his new adoptive Mom Jeanne. Sky: That leave you buddy. Tell us about yourself. Joshua: I came to the Stark flock in September 2012 when my Mom couldn't keep me any longer. She wanted me to get more attention then she was able to offer. My name was CHICO but my new Dad thought JOSHUA, a good Bible name was more appropriate so here I am, Joshua Chico Stark. SKY: Thank you very much Joshua and Momma Tanya for sharing with us the ups and downs of loving and rescuing birds in need. Next Wednesday SPOTLIGHT on CARING features KIDDO and his Mom Pam with my heart filled with love SKY-224183Come visit me, JESSE, AMANDO, a Rain Forest Raider, little angel, jack, Sarah Little Bird, rally,, ANGEL, I'm a SILVER SLUGGER, 2nd baser, Zeena, I'm a Major League Beak, SKY & Miss BB ready for the Derby, Lupe', flynn, Poncho, Casey & Tia ready for the Derby, broken wings, broken promises & CASPER, I'm a White Hawk!!!.
