outside, anywhere! But, of-course, he's always cautious; I caught him in a beak-to-beak fight with some type of hawk-looking bird, and in pursuit of an owl. But my old Fire Bird taught it a lesson!

Lesson #1. Don't mess with a fire bird

Lesson #2. To escape a hungry owl, you: Step one: Fly as fast as you can. Step two: Make a sharp left turn, dive, and twirl to avoid owl's sharp, dangerous talons now inches from your kneck. Step 3: Fly faster! Step 4: Hide!

Cock comes too visit me every morning, and he hates it when I'm not there to greet him with a delicious treat.

Well, hmmm... maybe the fact that I saved Cock's life?

Cock is a wild bird. I've known him for about two weeks. His age and specimen is unknown. I met him in the sky.

I was enjoying a ride on my bike, in my neighborhood, binoculars in hand, busy birdwatching. I shielded my eyes from the golden sun. And this is the scene that follows: there is a distant squawk, and a I look up at the sun. It sounds closer. What is it? It looks like... a bird, a bird gliding through the sky, light rippling across it's beautiful golden feathers, feathers of white and crimson. I fire bird, a pheonix, this is what I make of the bird tumbling out of the sky. The bird with a horrid scar running across it's breast. It's injured. It crashes through the trees and lies there, motionless. I run. I run toward the distant silhouette of the fire bird with the scar running across it's breast. I hug it to my arms, trembling, promising myself I'll save it. And I do, and we bacome friends, a relationship I'll never forget.

Sometimes Fire Bird disappears for even days, and I'm worried. Sometimes we have little arguments resolting with band-aids. Sometimes my mother complains about all the poo and noise outside our front yard. But always Fenix and I will be the best of friends.

Today, Cock has accostomed to a scedule of visiting me every morning, sometimes more. Sometimes he pecks at my window for me to let him in. I hope he's safe in the wild. I don't know where he goes or how he survives, but he's meant to be wild.
I don't know where he came from, or his scar, and I don't want to know.
Fire Bird is a blessing..
