Oranges are pretty good, nuts in the shell especially almonds. Walnuts, extraordinary!

On top of my cage, on the T stand, on the back of mom's chair in the office. On the desk chair in the library watching tv with dad.

No sticks to step up and no hands in the cage! Hate the upright vacuum cleaner!

She just fusses all over me. Wow! Love hanging out with dad on Sundays, he shares all his snacks with me, especially when I tug at his sleeve!

I make a funny vocal sound when I poop!.

I am sunshine on a cloudy day....I open my wings and shine for you! I am your blue bird of happiness!.

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Not much going on here today. Mom started doing some spring cleaning, and I helped! She looked like she was having lots of fun so of course I had to join in the fun! You'd think she would get done a lot quicker with me helping!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
CRAZY WEATHER!!! We were under winter advisory last night! We were supposed to get 2-4 inches overnight, it ended up warming up slightly overnight, so we ended up with a layer of ice in addition to 2 inches of snow! It only went to 36°for the high today and the low will be 22°. The average temps should be 58°/39°! Mom thinks that we had spring in November & December and now we are having winter! It has snowed more since the first day of spring than it did all winter!

Mom has gotten some much needed rest the past 2 days and nights! The injections have helped so much! Mom was never able to sleep more than 2-3 hrs at a time because pain would wake her. But the last 2 nights she slept 6 whole hrs in a row both nights! She's so happy & rested! Mom can't remember the name of the medication that her Dr injected, it's not actually cortisone, it can be used more frequently. She'll write down the name of it when she goes back to her pain Dr at the end of the month.

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Mom's "dumbphone" crashed AGAIN! Mom took it back in to the phone store on Saturday to get it fixed again. A factory reset didn't work this time so they kept it to have someone else look at it. Mom wanted them to give her a new phone, but they said only if it couldn't be fixed...unless she wanted to BUY a new phone...SHE DIDN'T! She didn't get her phone back until today! Mom was so mad, I think she had smoke coming out of her ears! She was having withdrawal from not being able to access the internet for 5 days!

I'm going to be in lockdown tomorrow morning, mom has an appointment with her pain management doctor to get more cortisone injections. He gave her several injections in her left knee last week and last month he gave her several injections in her right shoulder. He wants her to come back tomorrow because he wants to do her shoulder again. That means I'll get lots of playtime, mom always feels a lot better after getting injections!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Mom didn't get my notes out the past 3 days because she had a severe migraine. She could barely lift her head off of the couch. Usually her migraine meds get rid of it, but not this time. I took good care of her though! I would climb up onto the couch and stick my face in hers and whisper, HI! Mom made some funny groaning noises each time I walked on her head! I don't think she liked too much, but every time I stepped on her head she would hold me for a little while! She's still feeling crappy, but much better than the previous 3 days!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
HAPPY EASTER!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter my dear friend!

Mom had a crazy busy day yesterday and wasn't able to get on BC at all! She ended up watching Trent, the 6yr old boy she used to watch full time. We had him from 9:30am until 6:30pm. Mom planned on coloring her feathers but there was a water main break and the water was off most of the day. Mom eventually colored her feathers but had to wait until Trent left. She really had to rush around because she had to be at the church by 8pm. I sissy Amanda was being confirmed in the church her hubby and kiddos belong to. The service was from 8-11pm. It was almost midnight when mom got home! Mom had turned out the lights and set the sleep timer on the TV. When it went off at 9pm, I climbed into my acrylic ring that is my roost and took a nap until mom came home. We cuddled & played for a half hour then I wanted to go night-night. Mom left for an early Easter dinner with the family and then she'll be home with me the rest of the day!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Mom fell asleep sitting up again and didn't get any of my blogs done! Same thing happened Wednesday night but she managed to get half of my blogs out! I told her to start earlier tonight, she's ruining my social life!

No car ride today, it was way too cold! It's going down to 29° tonight! I was enjoying my car ride yesterday until mom rudely interrupted it! She noticed that I was looking up while saying HI. Mom looked up and freaked out! She scooped me up and held me close, leaning her head over me. She left my car laying beside the road and took off for home. I didn't know she could move that fast with a cane! Mom said that the bird I was talking to was a large Red Tail Hawk, which was circling 20 feet above us! Mom thinks that I'm much too big for the hawk to go after, but she wasn't taking any chances! I don't think that hawk would have stood a chance against an angry mom protecting her precious fid!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Mom was being sneaky again on Sunday, but the joke was on her! She was getting ready to go to my sissy's house for an early dinner. I went into my house to get my delicious walnut. Mom came out of nowhere and shut & locked my door! She went back into her bedroom to finish getting ready. When she came back into the living room, I was on top of my house! She then realized that she had taken out my water bowl to wash it & didn't close and latch the little door. Needless to say, I wasn't in lockdown when she went to dinner, hehehe!

I had a minor car accident today. I was motoring along, having a great time and ran over a couple pieces of gravel. My car tipped and I toppled off. I didn't get hurt but it wasn't my idea of a good time! I made mom carry me the rest of the way!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue
We had BC problems last night. Mom left a vote & note for Kacey & Mikey then got booted off and couldn't log back in!

What crazy weather! All winter long we had some temps in the 60's and a few days in the 70's, so of course the first day of spring it snows all day! Tho mom is surprised that it actually laid on the ground, she thought the ground was too warm!

It's carnival time! I will be in the KB tomorrow and we will be having a carnival. There will be roller coasters, merry-go-round, ferris wheel and every ride that you can imagine! There will be game booths, food stands, and of course, popcorn, funnel cakes, candy apples and delicious cotton candy!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Thanks for liking my new profile pic! SweetPepper's wonderful mom Teri made it for me! She makes such awesome pictures!

Mom had to go to to the bank & the store today and would be gone about an hour, so she decided that I had to be in lockdown. She couldn't convince me to get in my house. Since it worked yesterday, she started messing with my toys again! I wasn't falling for it again, I stood my ground and stayed on my door! I won this battle, after half an hour, mom gave up and left to do her errands...hehehe! I was on my best behavior...no walkabouts!

I had a yummy night-night snack...an ice cream cone! I LOVE those crunchy cones and mom added a spoonful of orange creme yogurt, hmmmm! That ALMOST made up for lockdown yesterday!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
The spring time change really messes mom up for about a week, but we really enjoy the extra hour of daylight! The time change in the fall REALLY messes me up! I start saying night-night Bub as soon as it gets dark...and in the winter, that is at 5pm!

By all the scratch marks on mom's hands & arms, I'm guessing that I'm due for a nail trim! I don't like it one bit, it's such a traumatic and indignant experience! I won't let mom do my nails, so she whisks me away to the vet's office. I really like my Dr, but NOT when she does my nails! I run several laps around the room while she chases me! I squeal at first but it quickly dawns on me that this is not a game! The Dr then wraps me snuggly in the towel & hands me to her assistant then trims my nails. I'm ok until then, but she gets out that sand blasting machine & I start honking like a goose! I give mom the "cold wing" the rest of the day!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Mom got some much needed rest yesterday. She suffers from insomnia & is lucky if she gets 3 hours of sleep a night. Every few weeks it catches up with her & she has a snooze fest. Plus with the time change, it takes her awhile to adjust. At least she took me out to drive my car first! As soon as mom has someone to help her, we'll make a video of me driving my car! I got to take a spin around the block today too!

I was wondering if anybirdie else is going through a molt too. I usually don't have a major molt this early. I started in mid January and am almost done molting now. Mom picked up so many feathers, she said that she could have made a birdie the size of an African Grey!

We are very sad to learn of the passing of John Lege. He was a wonderful person & a wonderful ambassador for parrots. Every parrot featured in his bird shows were rescued. He will be greatly missed!

It reached 58° today but sure didn't feel like it! It was chilly and rained most of the day & evening. It's supposed to be 63° tomorrow and 67° Tuesday & Wednesday but calling for more rain.

So far mom and my sissy Amanda didn't get the belly bug, I'm keeping my birdie toes crossed that they don't get it!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
We didn't blog last night, mom was exhausted from being up all night with Livi the night before. Mom went on BC to give Kacey & Mikey their BOTM vote & went to bed at 9:30pm! Liv is feeling a little bit better but she still can't keep anything down. When mom took Liv home she found out that Noah, her oldest grand & their daddy Chris, also got the belly virus! Sammy had it first but he's all better now! I hope that mom and my sissy Amanda doesn't get it!

We are getting spoiled by all this unseasonably warm weather, but I sure hope it continues! It was cold and rainy yesterday & went down to 30° last night, but it's going to be in the 60's for the next few days! Our low temps are going to be higher than our average high temps for this time of year!

Don't forget to set your clocks one hour ahead tonight!

  Hi Blue
Today was such a lovely day! It reached 75° and the low will be 55°! The normal temps are 46°/27°! It will be in the 60's and a couple days 70's for at least the next 10 days! It's 10pm and it's still 67°...it's unbelievable!

I had a great day! Mom gave me a shower bath. I LOVE getting shower baths, I squeal the entire time! Mom took me outside to dry but it was too windy. I don't like the wind messing with my tailfeathers! Mom took me back in & gave me a blow dry, I really do enjoy that! Later on mom took me back outside to drive my car and I said HI to all the kids! What a wonderful way to spend the day!

Mom was too tired to blog last night. She sat down on the couch and started typing my blog & fell asleep sitting up! Finally at midnight I climbed onto the couch onto mom's shoulder and said "I'm TARRRED"! She woke up and put me to bed.

We have been having such lovely weather! I'll be doing a lot more car riding, it's so much fun! It's going to be in the 60's and 70's for at least the next 10 days! Our average high temp for this time of year is 47°, so we're way above normal!

Mom was towards the end of sending out my notes when BC crashed on Friday night, we weren't able to send out any notes Thursday night or all day Saturday. It seems to be working now...birdie toes crossed!

Mom made a delicious roasted veggie pizza for dinner tonight, one of my favorites! We had chunky strawberry applesauce for dessert. It was very good, but not as good as the chunky cherry! They only had one jar of the cherry at the Aldi's that mom stopped at today. She's going to go to the one by our house tomorrow morning to see if they have any more!

We are going to have some great car riding weather! For at least the next ten days it's going to be in the mid/high 60's and Tuesday it's supposed to be 71° & may reach 74° on Wednesday...WOO HOO!

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Some of my friends asked about my car. It is a Fisher-Price toddler car, the kind that little people use foot power to make it go. Mom got it for the grandkiddos and when they outgrew it, it became ALL MINE! There's a pic of me on it on my page, but for some reason the pics that mom uploaded from her phone are all SIDEWAYS! It's really cute, it's red with a big smiley face on the front and a big yellow half circle dashboard which is where I perch! Mom attached a dog leash to the front & pulls me along. Mom says that I think that I'm the Grand Marshal of a parade! I sit straight & tall and say HI to everyone! The neighborhood kids laugh and follow behind, adults come out on their porches to watch me go by! It is very much like a parade! Mom used to pull me up & down the sidewalk where we used to live. Some people would park their cars & get out & take pics of me! You would think that they never saw a macaw driving a car before!!!
Mom plans on video taping one of my car rides, but she'll need someone to help her. She doesn't have enough hands to do it herself because she has to walk with a quad cane. The next warm day that Aunt Amy is here we will make a car riding video!

  Hey Blue and crew!
Here's some of the food on the menu for tonight, it may change the next day as the chef needs to prepare it ahead of time.
Kalua pork? Hmmm oh yeah sure, the buffet table closest to the bonfire along with hot dogs and polska kielbasa too. They are in the heated pans covered to keep it warm.

Here let me make a plate for you. Would you like sticky rice, mashed potato, baked potato or augratin potatoes? Or a little of each? :)

We also have potato Mac salad too. ;)

We have fountain drinks with different flavored of soda pop. There's orange crush, strawberry crush, pineapple or grape crush. Gee we just about have all the flavors here, huh?

There's more additions to the dessert table as someone had brought some pies. There's pumpkin, dobash, Apple, custard, key lime pie and the new one chocolate Mac nut cream pie! Oh I bet that one will go fast, Laka giggles. It's a good thing there's a few of them. :)

We will also have some hot cider and hot cocoa tonight while the fireworks go off at 7 pm.

Hope you all can stay for that. ;)

For those of you who want to crash over we have lots of sleeping bags so we all can camp out by the fire tonight, just like old times. :)

There's paper lanterns hanging from a line that goes from the Castle to the party and back in case any birdie gets lost.
Love from your humble,

Queen Laka Aolani

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Well, March came in like a lamb but by evening it's going to go all lion on us! From 6pm until 5am tomorrow. Wind 15-25 with gusts up to 50 mph. It's going to be noisy tonight! More crazy weather! Today it reached 67° (car driving weather) then the next 4 days it's supposed to snow! Mom took me out to drive my car for 40 mins, we went around the block twice!

Mom thought she was being clever last night but I know what she was doing! After mom tucked me into bed and covered my house, I heard the rustle sound of a wrapper. Did she actually think that I couldn't smell the delicious aroma of that chocolate bar! I said "Mmmm"! She had the nerve to say night night Bub! I'm sure that you'll agree with me, if it's something that I'm not allowed to have, mom has no business eating it either!

Thank you for your votes and support during my BOTM campaign run.

We will have a big Bonfire party bash for the whole week so come on by when you can and enjoy the food. We'll have corn on the cob, roast hot dogs and marshmallows and even veggie kabobs too. There's a buffet table of all sorts of fruits cut up and decorated by the castle chefs.
Watermelon, fresh pineapple, guava, grapes, kiwi, apples, oranges and much much more.

The dessert table is also full of moms pineapple cake along with chocolate truffles and chocolate dobash, blueberry muffins, banana muffins and apple pie and pumpkin pie my frother so favorite. ;)

So come on by and eat for a spell and hang out and dance by the bonfire and have a ball.

Yeah that Julio never responded to my hello, now that's rude! I think I will give him a good shakin' when I get to the castle.

Well I've got 1 big bag packed and ready to go. I just hope I don't forget it when the castle guards come to get me. Maybe I'll leave my bag by the door, that way I won't forget it. :)

I have a few chew toys and my snack bowl and my water bowl, the one that I take a bath in that is. Herheehee!! Then there's my toy box and my empty coconuts. The one that mom hides my treats in. And then my construction paper chew toy and I think that's it. I can always have my frother Angel Pookie go and pick up anything that I forgot to pack.

I hope the guards don't scare me at night cause they will feel the wrath of this big beaky! That's for sure! :)

I'm so eggcited I can't sleep but my eyelids are so tired. Mom went to the doctor today and got some antibiotics for her sinus infection and some other meds to clear her sinus. Her nose has been running and she can't seem to catch it! Hehehege heheheg

  Hi Blue buddy & flock
Happy Leap Day! I thought that mom would be home with me all day today but she decided to go to a couple stores. She said it was going to be a quick trip so she took Sadie the wiener dog with her. She ended up being gone for almost 4 hours! Sadie didn't mind, she LOVES going in the car! I didn't end up in lockdown, mom couldn't trick me into going into my house! Usually she'll put a small piece of candy in my bowl and I dive in after it! She tricked me yesterday but I wasn't falling for it today! I looked her in the eyes and said NO! As soon as mom walked out the door she heard me laughing, I went after my yummy prize!

Mom was glad that Leo won for best actor, he sure deserved it! Mom did enjoy The Revenant, but that type of ending drives her crazy (I'm sorry to say that it's a very short trip)!

  Hi Blue and crew,
Good morning everyone! Well, today is my last day for blogging and this is our prayer that we say every night. :) And it goes something like this: Dear God, I thank you for my mommy and daddy and all of my birdy friends here on the BC and every where else. Please bless all my birdy friends and especially to those who just came out of surgery and are recooperating. Please bless those young and old birdies who are ill or are not feeling well, as you are the great physician in the sky and can heal all. I pray that you cover all us birdies with your shield of armor to protect us from any disease or illness or harm that may come our way. I also pray for all the BC parronts for blessings and hearings and for their kin folk too. I thank you from the bottom of my little birdy heart, Amen. :)

I want to thank you all for your votes and support for me during my BOTM campaign run.

Here's a vote for you too. :). Hope you all have a Happy Monday.

It's gotta be hard for your sweet mom to blog for such a large flock, I'm an only bird and sometimes it's hard for mom to keep up with my notes & votes! We also have 2 wiener dogs & 3 cats so we have lots of noise and chaos here!

  Hi Blue and crew ,
Good morning every birdie! I’ve decided to do a short agenda for my last days running for BOTM.

Saturday will be a question and answer kind of thing. You can ask me anything you want, may it be about Hawaii in general or even me. So think about what you would like to know and I’ll do my best to answer your questions on the next blogging day. Also this Sunday I’m going to do a story telling day. I’ll choose a book that’s easy to understand and one that is not so long or I’ll hafta put it in my own words.

So have a great big birdie day everyone!

I thank you for all the votes and support for my BOTM running campaign.

Here’s a vote for you.

Love & warm birdie hugs,

  Hi Blue and crew,
Happy Hump Day! :)

Good morning everyone. Today I’m gonna talk about the Tsunami’s or Tidal Waves that impacted the Island of Hawaii.
Hawaii accounted for 7.3% of the United States' reported earthquakes with a magnitude 3.5 or greater from 1974 to 2003, with a total 1533 earthquakes. Hawaii ranked as the state with the third most earthquakes over this time period, after Alaska and California. On October 15, 2006, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 off the northwest coast of the island of Hawaii, near the Kona area of the big island. The initial earthquake was followed approximately five minutes later by a magnitude 5.7 aftershock. Minor-to-moderate damage was reported on most of the Big Island. Several major roadways became impassable from rock slides, and effects were felt as far away as Honolulu, Oahu, nearly 150 miles (240 km) from the epicenter. Power outages lasted for several hours to days. Several water mains ruptured. No deaths or life-threatening injuries were reported. The Brothers Cazimero’s version of the classic hapa-haole (hah-pah ha-olee) song “Hilo My Home Town” has the comedic line “watch for the tidal wave.” Despite a highly destructive tsunami on Apr. 1, 1946, which killed 159 people in Hawaii, by 1960, people would flock to the Hilo Bayfront when warned of an impending tsunami — which, technically, isn’t a tidal wave — to do just that. “Between 1948 and 1960, we actually had 17 tsunamis,” Donna Saiki, executive director of the Pacific Tsunami Museum, said Friday. “Fifteen of them were small ones like the one we just experienced (the night of Oct. 27). And two of them, in ’52 and ’57 did cause damage, but no death. In 1960, it was a very common attitude. Dozens and dozens gathered down by the river, and Suisan had a full contingent over there, watching.” As it turned out, the tsunami of May 23, 1960, killed 59 people and caused damage in excess of $50 million — which would be almost $400 million in today’s economy. Also sharing his story will be 94-year-old Takayoshi Kanda, who maintains the 12-foot-tall green clock that stands silently as a tsunami memorial in what used to be Waiakea town at the edge of the Naniloa golf course, its hands permanently frozen at 1:04 (a.m.), the time the 1960 tsunami devastated the Hilo waterfront. “He’s the one who’s down there every week to clean and put flowers there. He’s made it his mission to maintain that site,” Saiki said. Saiki said the evening will be dedicated to the memory of beloved Hilo historian Robert “Steamy” Chow, who died last Nov. 1 at age 90.
I thank you for all the votes and support for my BOTM run.

  Hello Blue buddy
Mom has an appointment with the mechanic on Thursday. She can't wait to confront the dealership but first she wants to gather up as much documentation as she can.

Looks like we will have one more warm day before winter weather returns. It's supposed to reach 60°! Saturday was a gorgeous day! Not a cloud in the sky & it reached 67° with 50° for the low! Mom took me outside & let me drive my car, I was so excited! Mom couldn't get over our low temp of 50°. We were hit by the Polar Vortex last year, and the low for 2/20/15 was 10 BELOW ZERO!!!

I hope your day was a good one!
Love & a vote

  Hi Blue and crew,
Today is Monday Po ‘akahi (Poh-ah-ka-hee).

Since the BC has been down and out for the past few days I decided to keep todays blog short and simple.

The highs are 83 and the lows are 65. It will be a sunny day in Hawaii Nei and the North Shore waves will be pounding today from 45-55 foot wave faces. The Public Safety and Lifeguards are cautioning everyone to stay away as the water has been known to wash over the road and causing damage to cars and houses nearby.

But if you do watch the waves you can feel the power of mother nature at its strongest. I certainly wouldn’t want to make mother nature mad, period.

Just in case you don’t get this blog I’ll try to resend it if I can.

Here’s a vote for you and hope you all have a great big birdie day. I also want to thank you for the continued votes and support for my BOTM campaign run.

Sending you all warm wing hugs and beaky kisses!

  Hi Blue and crew,
Today's blog book is called Froggy goes to Hawaii; by Jonathan London, illustrated by Frank Remkiewics

Frrooggy!!! called his father. Whaaaat? Up and at 'em! Today is the day we're going on vacation! Yippee! cried Froggy. and he sang: we're going on vacation! we're going to Hawa a i i i! We're going on vacation! We're going to Hawa a a iii!!
It's time to pack! yelled his dad. So Froggy hopped out of bed and packed his toy plane --- Zoom!
His toy boat --- Vroom! And his ukulele --- plink! Frrooggy! called his mother. Wha a at? Don't forget your bathing suit, dear! I know! cried Froggy. And he grabbed his backpack and flopped out to the taxi -- flop flop flop. Are you going to Hawaii in your pajamas? Frogilina laughed. oops! cried Froggy. And he flopped back to his room to get dressed --- flop flop flop. When Froggy came back, Frogilina waved good-bye and off to the airport they went -- beep beep beep!!
At the airport, they had to wait in a long line. Froggy didn't like waiting in lin. So he leapfrogged over his mom. He leapfrogged over his dad. He leapfrogged over Pollywogilina -- and fell flat on his face -- oof! Hee hee hee! giggled Poly, and Dad said, Froggy, when you get to Hawaii, don't act like a nincompoop!
When they finally got on the airplane, they flew and flew. But Froggy couldn't sit still. So he flopped up to the front -- flop flop flop -- and sand to the pilot, We're going on vacation! We're going to Hawa a aiii....

Froggy! called his mom. Wha a a t? Please sit down! Now! And his dad warned, When you get to Hawaii --- I know! cried Froggy. But when they got to Hawaii.... Froggy went bananas!
He raced through a giant bamboo forest, and had a ninja fight with a coconut tree -- Hi-yah! whack! whack! whack! -- Bonk! A coconut hit him on the head and knocked him down.
He got so hot in the jungle, he had to dive into a nice cool stream... and almost went over a waterfall. HEELLLLPP!! (Mom snatched him just in time.)
Next day, they climbed a volcano. Look! yelled Froggy, Lava! He was so excited... he almost fell in. OOps! cried Froggy hanging onto Dad's neck like a monkey.
Next day, he did a hula dance in a grass skirt -- hule hula huuuuula -- and even the mynah birds laughed -- kak! kak! kak! And the day after that, he surfed riding dad's shoulders, with his hands over Dad's eyes. WIPEOOOOOOOUT!
On their last day in Hawaii, they sailed out on the FOUR WINDS. Froggy borrowed his dad's binoculars to look for sea turtles, whales, and dolphins. He got a little seasick -- blaaaahhh! -- so he looked even greener than usual.
When they dropped anchor at a coral reef, Froggy had to be the first one in! he ripped open his backpack and took out his toy plane -- zoom! His toy boat -- vroom! and his toy ukulele -- plin! Oh no! cried Froggy. I forgot my bathing suit!
Oh Froggy, mom sighed. So Froggy had to go snorkeling... in his dolphin underwear! He pulled up his flippers -- zup! Put on his mask and snorkel -- zook zick! And pushed past everybody -- flop flop...splash! He glubbed and blubbed and almost sank..... then pooped up holding his dad's binoculars. Oops! sputtered Froggy, looked more red in the face than green.
Oh Froggy, said his dad. What did I tell you?? When you get to Hawaii? Look, Dad! Giant sea turtles! Froggy tossed dad his binocs and took off after them. Froggy! called his dad. Wha a a t? Wait for me! and he jumped in after him -- flop flop ... splash! By the time the boat picked them up... Dad was too pooped to pop. When we get back home, he groaned, I need a vacation!
Me too! cried Froggy. Next time, let's go for two weeks!

I want to thank you all for your continued votes and support for my BOTM campaign.

Sending you all warm wing hugs and beaky kisses and a vote too.

  Hi Blue and crew,
Good morning all! :)
Today I'm going to read my moms favorite book called Moki Mongoose finds a friend (A Hawaiian Tale)
Written and illustrated by Deborah C. Taylor, Copyright 1995. This was one of the first books that mom catalogued when she was working for Library Services. How to pronounce the Hawaiian names in this story. Moki: Mo-ki,Kimo: Kee-mo, Nene: Nay-nay, Maile: my lay, Auwe: Ow-way, Moki the Mongoose was very lonely. I wish I had a friend who looked just like me, said Moki. I will be your friend, said Maile the Mynah Bird. I will be your friend too, said Kimo the Toad. Nene the Goose said, Moki, I would love to be your friend. But Moki just lay on the sand dreaming. Maile, and Kimo, and Nene just went away shaking their heads . . . That day, while he was down at the beach, Moki saw something that made him very happy . . .. . . He saw a funny, furry, little brown face that looked just like his own. It had two small dark eyes . . . It had a small, round nose . . . It had brown, furry skin . . . Moki went right up to the stranger and said, Hi, my name is Moki. What's your name? Do you want to be my friend? . . . But the stranger did not answer. Do you want to go for a walk with me? asked Moki. But the round, brown face said nothing. . . How about a nice mango to eat? offered Moki. The stranger just sat there looking back at him. I don't think you are very nice, said Moki, who had a real temper. I'm going to make you say hello to me! So Moki wrestled with the furry, brown creature. . . He rolled around and around...all over the sand, and into the water and out again! Just then, Maile the Mynah Bird landed nearby. She saw Moki rolling around and around, and asked, what are you doing, Moki? Hearing all this noise, Kimo the Toad hopped out of the bushes. Do you need some help? He asked Moki. And Nene the Goose came out of her shady spot, and waddled over near Moki. What's the problem, Moki? She asked. Moki answered angrily, this fellow won't say hello, or tell me his name, or go for a walk or anything! Oh, Moki! Said Maile. Your new friend can't say hello. And he can't go for a walk, either, said Kimo. And your new friend doesn't have a name, says Nene. Moki stopped. He was very tired from rolling around and around. Why not? He asked, too tired to be angry anymore. Because your new friend is a coconut! They all answered at once. Oh said Moki. So that's what a coconut looks like. It looks just like me. Auwe! Do I feel silly! Then Moki had an idea.

He looked at Nene, and Maile, and at Kimo, and felt much better. I guess you don't have to have friends who look just like you to have friends. That's right, said Maile. You've got something there, said Kimo. What a nice idea, said Nene. And that night, as the stars shone brightly above the island, four new friends had coconut for dinner. The End of the Tale. Hope you all enjoyed reading about Moki the Mongoose finds a friend. I thank you all for your votes and support for me during my BOTM campaign run.

  Hi Blue
I was sooooo funny this evening! I'm always chatty right before bedtime, but tonight I was something else! I know about 100 words and I said them all...over & over at the top of my lungs...for almost 3 hours! Mom isn't sure if birdies can get laryngitis and hopes that I don't get it! Mom gave up on trying to watch a TV show because she couldn't hear it so she put my favorite music channel on & played with me and I got even more fired up! I was meowing like our cats, barking like our wiener dogs and especially kept saying some of my favorite words/phrases such as: now what, get in here, where are you, what did you do, man, (Little Man is the male Siamese cat's name and I call him all the time) mom, mutha, hello mom, hello Bub, love you mom, love you Bub...for just a few! I LOVE to make my mom laugh, & the more she laughs, the crazier I get! We had such a fun evening, maybe we'll do it again tomorrow!

I hope your day was a good one!

  Hi Blue and crew,
When Hawaii celebrated its 50 years of Statehood in 2009, I thought it would be fun to sit down and write down the first 50 things that came to mind when I considered the things I like about Hawaii. Even now, more than 5 years later, these are still my favorites.
I decided not to include specific hotels or resorts since that would take up too much of the list. With that exception then, here, in no particular order, are 50 things I like about Hawaii.
Visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial; Taking a helicopter tour of Kauai with Jack Harter Helicopters; Whale watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation. Searching out Lost filming locations on Oahu with Kos Tours; Seeing the earth grow at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park; The music of the late great IZ - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. When is the best time to go to Hawaii?
Anytime is a great time to go to Hawaii. We’ve been to Hawaii several times in every season and enjoyed wonderful weather. For the best weather and prices, we recommend visiting Hawaii in mid/late April, May, early/mid June, September and October. We provide many more details with advice on when to visit Hawaii in this article: which time of year is best for visiting Hawaii.
Is Hawaii cold in the winter? We don’t think it’s cold. Look at the above weather charts which indicate that even in the coldest months, the average daytime high temperatures average between 78 and 82F, which is quite pleasant. You’d have to visit Hawaii during a particularly odd weather pattern to be cold in Hawaii. During winter months, you might want to have a light sweater to wear in the evenings, but during the daytime, you’ll most likely enjoy “bikini weather” while playing in the ocean.
Is Hawaii’s weather humid?

The degree to which a person feels humidity depends on the humidity of the climate where they live. For example, someone who lives in the humid southeastern United States probably won’t notice much humidity, while someone from an arid southwestern state may take more notice in the humidity. If the tradewinds are blowing, which they normally do, the breeze helps to keep you comfortable in the humid environment.
Do I need to be concerned about rain in Hawaii during the winter months?
As we’ve previously mentioned, the north and east sides of the island tend to get more rain than the south and west sides of the islands. If you plan to stay on the south and west sides of the islands, you’ll likely minimize your chances of experiencing rain. See our article on where to stay to avoid rain in Hawaii.
Is winter a good time to go to Hawaii?
Yes! See our article about visiting Hawaii in the winter.
Are the northern Hawaiian Islands colder than the southern Hawaiian Islands?
There’s perhaps just a few degrees difference between the extremes, but nothing drastic. If you flew from one island to the other, you probably wouldn’t notice a difference. Review the above temperature charts for Kauai, the northernmost Hawaiian Island, to the Big Island, the southernmost Hawaiian Island for comparison. Note that there’s very little difference.
What’s the water temperature in Hawaii? Can I swim in Hawaii in the colder winter months?
You can swim in the ocean in Hawaii throughout the year — even in winter months. The average ocean temperature for Honolulu is 78F and ranges from a low of 76F to 81F. See this link for more information.

Maui’s Weather
Choose the sunny South Coast near Wailea for a nearly guaranteed sunshine all year round. While, Lahaina Kaanapali and Kapalua in West Maui get a bit more rain as compared to South Maui, overall the area has relatively low rain levels and good amounts of beautiful Hawaiian sun.
The windward east side of Maui, including beautiful Hana, tend to have a more rain which creates those beautiful waterfalls and rainforests.
If you plan to venture to to the top of Maui’s inactive volcano, Haleakala, plan to bring a warm windproof jacket, hat and gloves as it can get cold – especially overnight during the night.
For more Maui weather details, read our Maui Weather Guide.

Kauai’s Weather
Princeville and Hanalei on the North Shore of Kauai brings a mixture of sunshine and showers needed to make all of the wonderful rainbows and waterfalls. The East and South shores are likely to offer more sunshine and less rainfall. For more Kauai weather details, read our Kauai Weather Guide.

The Big Island’s Weather
The Big Island of Hawaii offers the most diverse climates within the Hawaiian Islands. Climatologists have determined that the Big Island has 11 of the world’s 13 climate zones.
The Kohala and Kona coasts on the west of the Big Island are your best bets for plenty of sun and little rain. The Kohala Coast, in particular offers one of the sunniest resort spots in all of Hawaii.
In comparison to the dry Kona and Kohala coasts, Hilo on the East side tends to have significant amounts of rain year round. In fact, compared to all the other Hawaiian airports where weather data is collected, Hilo receives several more inches of rain on average.
If you visit the higher elevations, you want to be prepared for chillier temperatures. If you go into Waimea town in the evening, you’ll want to have a light sweater. If you go up to the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, you’ll want to wear long pants and a coat.
For more Big Island weather details, read our Hawaii (Big) Island Weather Guide.

Lanai’s Weather
The island of Lana’i has just a few areas where you’ll find lodging — in Lanai City and nearby Koele in the upcountry and Manele Bay down on the coast. The highlands or upcountry of Lanai enjoy a mild/cooler climate as compared to the warmer and sunnier Manele Bay. Please note that the above chart is based on the Lanai City in the higher elevation. To estimate weather in Manele Bay, add about 10 degrees Fahrenheit to Lanai City temperatures.

Molokai’s Weather
Molokai’s weather doesn’t vary quite as much as some of the other Hawaiian Islands. The north and east sides of the island are rainier than the south and west sides of the island.

When is the best time to go to Hawaii?
