A friend of mine who volunteers with a city dog rescue received a phone call from a woman who adopted and fostered dogs from them. She was looking to rehome her Citron-crested Cockatoo. My friend contacted me because she knew I was looking for a Cockatoo. I met Angie and knew we were a match. The woman was rehoming her because she didn't have enough time for her. I am home all day. I have only had her 2 months but things are going very well..

Hi! My name is Angie

I am a Citron-Crested Cockatoo from East Hampton, CT.

Angie baby - after the song by Helen Reddy

8 years old   F

Citron-Crested Cockatoo

She is wary of new foods so she doesn't have much that she likes outside of her pellets. She does like Nutriberries and sunflower seeds.

On the top of her cage door (when it is open) - she will hang out there all day

When both my husband and I leave the room.

She talks to me. She is very gentle when she scratches my head. She has me out of my cage all day.

Typical if a cockatoo, she puts food on her neck and rolls it off trying to catch it..

Not all Cockatoos are loud...I am a soft- spoken lady!.

  Hi Angie!
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tango and I'm a Citron too! I was reading your profile and I agree. I am also very quiet and sweet. I don't talk but I also don't usually scream. I do call out to mom when she leaves the room. I love to be with her all the time.
I like to cuddle and love to have my head scratched. Mom always hears about these cockatoos rolling food down their backs but I have yet to ever do that! I do hop and jump across the floor. And I don't know if you like to do this too, but I make "soup" with my water bowl when mom goes out for too long!

Nice to meet you! Feel free to fly by and visit anytime!

Hugs,
Tango

Come visit me, Kahlua & Tango.

  Hi Angie!
I've been with my momma and family for a month! I'm stepping up very nicely now, I haven't bitten in over two weeks, and I am being super sweet with mommy and grandma! I really surprised mommy yesterday. She was laying on a lounge chair out side on the porch, and I was sitting on her chest. I was being really sweet, besides letting he scritch me, I also let he rub my belly, under my wings, and my legs! And when she would stop scritching me, I would thump my beak on her chest and yell at her. hehe! She thought it was adorable! On Sunday, I got a shower with the hose! I LOVED it! Mommy didn’t seem to like it though, maybe that was because she was holding me while grandma sprinkled me with the water, and grandma sprayed mommy with the hose on full blast a few times. All I know is that she was NOT happy and all wet when my shower was over. Oh! Guess what! I have some pin feathers coming in on my chest! Mommy is so happy!
Hugs, Jester

  Hi Angie!
I am pleased to report that I haven't bitten momma in over a week! We have been trying to work on my stepping up, but I'm still not great. I REFUSE to step off or out of my cage. I will only step up when I am away from my cage. Grandpa bought the Bird Tricks training DVDs, so mommy is using those to help. I really like going outside, I will step up really nicely out there.
I really like being scritched. If mom or grandma stop, I shake my chain to ask them to come back. But I am not allowing mommy to scritch me at the moment, because her nails are a very scary red and yellow color. She promised to take the color off for me today.
Hugs, Jester

  Hi Angie!
Thank you for stopping by to visit me! It's nice to meet another citron. :) I read that you don't like it when your parronts leave the room, do you try and call them back? That's what I do. :P I whimper like a puppy and talk and blow kisses to try and get them to come back.
I'd love to be friends!
Hugs, Jester

  Hi Angie,
I've got a little foster boy like you staying with me for a while. He's 16 years old and sounds a bit like you. Tell your mom that I'd love to talk to her in the "FORUMS" section. Just click on the tab at the top of the page to get there. My user name is "Parrotz". You're a very cute little girl and looking much better than Jester does. He's only been here 3 weeks. I'm waiting for one of you 2 birds to tell me all the special Citron Cockatoo secrets.

Come visit me, Zeus (RIP), Augie, Picasso, Shammy & Major.
