Absolutely no apologizing for any sort of delay in comin' back by with a note. I know how life is. Look, I've got my typist up before dawn so I can get a word or two out before the regular stuff steals her away.
So what's this about Rio? I could ask him, and I probably will, but I thought a Sennie opinion would be really interesting. Is he jealous of her? In love with her? Do tell! I think my mom's really surprised about how well Reba and I get along. I mean, we share my cage! That's how well we co-habitate. She doesn't sleep inside at night, at least not at this point, but she's just on the outside of the wires right next to where I sleep. We're not in love or anything, just friends. We don't do that preenin' stuff or share food or anything like that. We just hang t'gether, sometimes even inside the cage. There were times we'd do a little beak bashing but never with much conviction. Now that I think about it, it's been awhile since we've done it at all. It was never imagined that there'd be A macaw here much less two. And now, well, I don't suppose mom can imagine life without us. She better not be!

NOVEMBER 11th
Hello, this is SKY here with a very special blog to commemorate this Day of Remembrance. As we all stop to pause in deep reflection upon all those men, and women who gave their lives for our freedom let us not forget to thank them. Without their sacrifice we wouldn't stand here today. Among the countless Heroes of War is a small elite group of Captains that flew far and above the call of duty. This group is the "National Pigeon Service."
This group made up exclusively of Carrier and Homing Pigeons who have been honored with saving thousands of lives both Military and Civilian.
Carrier Pigeons were used for centuries to carry vital information during war and times of peace. During W.W.2, the Royal Army of England trained over 250,000
birds. The Royal Air Force relied on the Pigeons to the extent that a special squadron was formed to cull Falcons and Hawks that attacked them.
In WW2 the Pigeons were dropped by plane into Nazi occupied Europe using mini-parachutes. Upon landing they were picked up by army personnel who placed secret, coded messages into the capsules secured to their legs. Upon release they'd fly hundreds of miles back home. Landing on their coops would trigger alarms notifying the Signal Corp a message had arrived. The message was retrieved and forwarded to it's destination by hand.
These amazing feathered Soldiers would fly at 70-80mph and cover up to 700 miles, in as little as 10 hours, crossing some of the most perilous territory, often dodging bullets and birds of prey.
In 1943, The Dicken's Medal was awarded to 32 Pigeons, acknowledging their bravery and determination during time of War. Also included among the recipients were 18 dogs, 3 horses, and 1 cat. A small number of these Pigeons also were awarded the French " Croix de Guere" for their distinguished services.
A few notable Pigeons are;
Commando--who carried out 90 successful missions
Kenley Lass (1945)--the first bird to deliver intelligence from an agent in enemy occupied France on October 1940.
Dutch Coast--(1942) who saved the lives of his aircrew when their plane was shot down. He traveled 288 miles in just 7.5 hours saving all.
Mary of Exeter- a tough hen that serves 5 years being dropped repeatedly into France, returning to England. She was wounded 4 times; shot, attacked by a Falcon or Hawk and by stray Shrapnel. He owner, Charlie Brewer a Cobbler, fitted her with a leather neck collar saving her life. She lived another 10 years having 22 stitches in her 1 lb body=4000 in a 200lb man.
These are only a few of the Birds of War. Please take a moment to remember them, they may have saved someone's life that you know.

Once upon a time, Mom used to be a director of the Preschool Department of her church. AS IF you could direct those human preschoolers for we know they are truly "where the wild things are". Mom decided to throw a big get together and they had a GROUCH PARTY!! It was unique. It was get down and get dirty party. But NOT like what the teenage humans would mean it, but like GROUCHES would mean it. Little kids didn't know how to be so "grouchy" but they caught on fast. (As Mom knew they would) Anyway, it was greyt and I wouldn't mind having a 'Grouchy Bird Party" that would be fun, would it not? See ya later pretty lady bird. We didn't have much problem with Sandy at all, and today we have snow! gee the weather is something else these days, isn't it?
It has been a long time since we squawked, no doubt about that. Mom is semi retired now, and she spends her time driving The Old Guy to his senior citizen gatherings, cuz he fell asleep at a stop light a month ago and she doesn't think he should be driving long distances any more. It's not how she imagined her retirement, but hey, life throws us all kinds of curves. Her garden still has lots of weeds in it, and she's still determined to get rid of them some day.
Other Mom has just gone back to school to get retrained in a different job. Her old one wasn't working out anymore, so she's trying medical coding, which is supposed to be a growing field. We're wishing her luck, cuz it means more goodies for me---can you tell I'm a bit self-centered?
My finch neighbors are doing ok. There's been a decline in the zebra finch population, and the Moms are looking to adopt some new ones, but haven't found any females yet. The society finches we adopted from Falco's Mom's friend are doing well, except that they are very leery of the new boingy Mom got them, even tho there's a tasty millet spray in the middle of it. Hopefully they'll get over it soon!

SO GLAD TO SEE YOU ON MY PAGE. I KNOW YOUR MOM IS VERY BUSY SO ITS ALWAYS A PLEASURE WHEN YOU STOP BY.
MY HUSBIRD, KIDDO CHOSE OUR HALLOWEEN OUTFITS. HE LOOKED SO HANDSOME IN HIS KNIGHTS ARMOUR. ITS WAHT WE WORE TO THE HALLOWEEN MILONGA LAST SATURDAY.
WE DON'T GET ANY KIDS DOWN OUR STREET AS ITS MOSTLY SENIORS LIVING IN THE CONDOS HERE. I MISS SEEING THE KIDS ALL DRESSED UP. DEC WILL BE 4 YEARS LIVING IN THE CONDO.
MOM IS HEALING NICELY. SHE STILL GOES TO THERAPY BUT HAD A COUPLE SETBACKS ALREADY. ONE WAS DUE TO A TEMP THERAPIST HURTING MOM'S NECK SO MOM WAS OFF TEHRAPY FOR A WEEK AND THEN ON MONDAY THE TEHRAPIST DIDN'T WANT TO WORK ON MOM'S NECK CAUSE HER BLOOD PRESSURE WAS SO VERY HIGH, 183/108. SO MOM HAD TO SEE HER DR AND GET MEDS AND GET CLEARED TO GO BACK TO THERAPY. THE THERAPIST IS GOING TO MONITOR MOM'S BLOOD PRESSURE TO MAKE SURE WHILE ON THE MEDS IT IS GOING DOWN. MOM HAS HER GOOD DAYS AND BAD DAYS.
I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU HAD NO DAMAGE TO YOUR HOUSE AND THAT YOU ARE SAFE. HOPEFULLY THOSE ON THE EAST COAST CAN GET THEIR HOMES REPAIRED OR REBUILT IN A TIMELY MANOR BEFORE IT GETS COLDER.

First off I have to tell you how much we all just love your Profile Picture! You are sooo cute and sweet! You are so right how scary that storm was! My Mom had all she could do to keep us all warm and fed! I think my Mom is right about the worst thing is no power when trying to keep us fids warm! She finally took us all to our Nana's house who had power and we all got warmed up there and Nana gave us all a good warm meal too!
I do hope that the effects of the storm were'nt to bad for you either! I am so happy that you are safe and warm also! We sure did pray for all those others who had it really bad!
Did you have fun and enjoy your time in the castle yesterday? It really goes so quickly? Did you build a new room while you were there? I never thought of that when I was there last year!

Sorry for missing your special day little buddy! We are getting a late start, as we are all still tired from a long day of visiting our fabulous neighbors, the McIntyre family! Flash stole the show with aunt Denise, she can do just about anything with him, and it is very obvious that he loves her too! On the other hand, he dislikes all men, my dad included, and bit dad several times while going back in his travel cage! RaneBeau was so cute, boy does he love his momma, and Kelly and Saber were talking up a storm, and Alfie was more handsome than I remember! What a day it was!
