Oh Murphy!
You've no idea the joy I felt when I saw your name on my page!! Talk about elation! It's so good to hear from you and know everything is good there. I take it that means that Mr. Birdie is doing okay? I think about him often, especially since we too have a Ms Keet here who's nearly 12 years old. I'm sure I've told you about her before but just in case not; she was a breeder for 10 years and then her mate died so the lady retired her from the breeding business, giving her to the bird club's rescue coordinator. Mom felt so bad for her being given away after all those years in one place. She fit right in with the big group of 'keets here but then, I suppose because of age, she stopped being able to fly so has been set up in an easily accessible cage where she seems quite happy. In the winter time when all the keets are in the bird room, her door is left open and a buddy or two comes in a sits with her. Now that it's summer, she's out in the bird barn with the rest but still in her cage. Right now she's mothering a couple of button quail that just hatched. She loves to be a mommy! It's amazing to us that she's so active at the ripe old age of 12. I wonder what her and Mr. Birdie would have to talk about were they able to perch side by side.

What a sweet surprise to find a note from you on my page this morning. It always makes my day to know you're doing okay. That Mr. Birdie is still his darling little self, even as a senior psittacine, is a great relief.
About Knuckles, yes, I knew about her death. Someone who lives not far from her and talks with her momma on occasion got a call from Catherine with the sad news. The news was then e-mailed to my mom who later got an e-mail message from Knuckles' mom as well. It breaks my heart that the darling little live-wire of a-bird is gone. She was such a smart Grey, a funny Grey. And oh yes, I remember a special ceremony where you and the lovely Miss Knuckles became a married couple! You two were always so cute together. I'm sorry we've lost a friend. It's sad to think of a Grey bird gone from this world.
As for how I'm doing, I've no complaints. Well, there is this one. Two flights feathers on each side had grown in enough to make it possible to fly across the kitchen to the counter top. I was so happy! having been grounded all summer for safety purposes. With it too cool to go out to the aviary, it was good time to be growing in some flight feathers but then something happened one night- I got scared and thrashed about enough to knock out a whole pile of feathers. There's a picture on my page of some of them. The flight feathers were part of the pile which meant I was back to be a grounded bird. Poor Kelly. Poor, poor Kelly! It's been several weeks but there's no sign of any new ones yet and so I sit and wait for them to grow... Can't wait to be flying again!
Please give a HELLO to Mr. Birdie for me and a kissey~kiss to your darling Mom. It's so good to chat with you, Murphy.
