I was going through a period of blues during my OB clinical rotation (I was a student nurse at that time). My husband knew I had long wanted a bird because I had a NO FEATHER TOYS EVER rule with our cats because I did not want them to see feathers as something to attack/destroy/- play with. So he took me to get a bird. I was looking at the cockatiels, when he urged me to look at the baby Greys. I walked over, put my hand on the enclosure, and Mar RAN across, jumped onto my hand and ran up to my shoulder. He proceeded to attempt to remove my glasses, at which point we had our first lesson in "Not yours!" (which went very well). He's owned me and my heart ever since.. Awards

Going back

He is a big, confident, sweet, calm boy with a big heart and a gentle attitude.

Sadly, Marden contracted a systemic Aspergillus infection, and as a result, he died on 01/13/14, just two days after his third hatch-day. My heart is broken and I miss him more than words can express.

He's a headstrong but sweet Grey except when hormonal (then all bets are off).
Very gentle
Doesn't talk much - can, just doesn't
LOVES to eat - will try ANYTHING you offer

"Step up!" (in the Sun Conure's voice, no less!).

Marden David died on January 13th, 2014, just two days after his third hatchday. He was found to have a systemic aspergillus infection, most likely from something he ate. We normally feed only human quality foods, but had been given a couple of bags of cheap food that included peanuts. I thought I picked all the peanuts out, but it is possible that he found one I missed or that another ingredient in the feed was contaminated. African Greys are much more susceptible to these infections. Please be very careful what you feed your bird. Cheaper seeds with animal grade feeds are very often contaminated with "acceptable" levels of aspergillus. I cry every day over the loss of my boy. I wish I had just thrown this cheap food right in the trash. Never again.

  Welcome to BC Marden David!
I can't think of a better way to cheer up than getting a baby Grey! My "mommy" picked me out at the pet store too but unfortunately it took a long time before I accepted her. Actually, I chose "daddy" much to her dismay. Now I have a little sis, Susy, who loves mommy ... our feathered family is complete. Voted for you!

Come visit me, Big Earl.
