  Welcome to Bird Channel Georgia
Hi Jenny
Hello every Birdie Ms BB here with today's blog. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
Back into the shuttle every birdie and strap in. You might want to bring a warm coat with yea and a thermos of a hot drink. We are going to the highest spot in North America & its cold up there!

Mount McKinley or Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level and is in the state of Alaska in the Denali National Park.

The mountain is characterized by extremely cold weather. Temperatures as low as -75.5 °F (-59.7 °C) and windchills as low as -118.1 °F (-83.4 °C) have been recorded by an automated weather station located at 18,733 feet (5,700 m). (Told you it was cold!!!)

This weather station is the third-highest weather station in the world and was donated to the International Arctic Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1998 by the Japan Alpine Club.

Are you glad you brought a warm jacket now??? Want to get out & play in the snow anybirde?? How about a snowball fight?

The first European to see the mountain was George Vancouver in 1794. The first verifiable ascent to McKinley's summit was achieved on June 7, 1913 by climbers Hudson Stuck, Harry Karstens, Walter Harper, and Robert Tatum. In 1951, Bradford Washburn pioneered the West Buttress route considered to be the safest and easiest route and therefore the most popular currently in use.

Five large glaciers flow off the slopes of the mountain. The Peters Glacier lies on the northwest side of the mountain, while the Muldrow Glacier falls from its northeast slopes. Just to the east of the Muldrow, and abutting the eastern side of the massif, is the Traleika Glacier. The Ruth Glacier lies to the southeast of the mountain, and the Kahiltna Glacier leads up to the southwest side of the mountain.

  Hi Georgia
SKY here to welcome you to bird Channel. It's a fun place with tons of information and new friends to meet.
at the bottom of the blogs you receive on your page their are bird names in RED. READ down the list until you find the name of the bird who blogged you. CLICK it's name and that takes you to their page.

Voting: Click on their vote button ABOVE their photo. You can also vote for yourself. YOU can ONLY vote once a day per bird but can vote for all the birds in any one flock.
When you visit, which I hope you will, read down the blogs and click on some other birds name and stop over to say HI to them. It is the fastest way to make new bird friends on BC.
MOST birds will reply if you stop by their pages. That's how i made friends when I joined 3 years ago. I also write a weekly blog about different bird families here on BC. They tell about the how they started to get involved with birds and share their ups and downs with their birds over the years. I will bring it over when I post it this week for you to read.
Better get my Momma Deb going. She's not moving fast today. Have a greyt day and I'll stop by Cheyenne to vote on my way.
love and hugs

Come visit me, SKY, thank you for Jan 17th, 2016 BOTD & Little Angel.
