 It was so hard to share the sad news with our BC friends about Turk's passing. I'll never forget having to type the following nearly three years ago now;
"Turk died today, September 3, 2009 at 11:44.
Thank you so much, BC Friends, for taking this little blue bird into your hearts and adoring him so."

Passing a pet store, my mom said she 'just wanted to look' so dad willingly followed her in. How I was picked out of the dozens of budgies that were there, all showing off their best pose in hope of being the chosen one, I'll never know, but I guess that day was my lucky one because I was picked!
Another day that was lucky was when my Betty picked me ... I'll always love you, Betty Blue.. |

Not a day goes by
... that you're not thought of, Turk.
When we hear the other budgies chatter, we think of you and how you loved to talk to all of us.
When we see the dragon you posed with, or the little orange toy you perched on, we smile at the memory of how cooperative you were for a photo shoot.
And just so you know, we always leave a little space beside us on a perch like we used to do so there'd be room for you to come talk to us. How we wish you were still here to do that.

Dear Angel Turk,
Lizzie sits down under the tree at Turk's Rainbow Reflecting Garden and looks up to the heavens.
Can you believe it has been 3 years since you flew to the Bridge? I can tell you, you are definitely not forgotten--Queen Zippy was telling everyone about the Castle History, and your name came up so often, as you were such a integral part of the BC back then. And you still are. You definitely changed my life, and I am so proud to carry on your Catering though I know I will never be as good as you are....
Lizzie smiles when she sees the little blue budgie perched on the branch above her. So...what good recipes do you have for me today? she asks, bringing out her voice recorder. Turk flies down on her shoulder and they both are lost in discussion and recipes...

I see you sitting with so much FOOD. I have heard so much about you, and how many birds still respect and love you. (My mom says of course, budgies are very friendly and VERY smart) Your legacy lives on Proud Bird Pie Shop (that even has your picture!), and thru Lizzie who always mentions you, and many other birds' memories. Lizzie and Kaji stop to say
that no matter how much time passes, Turk, you are always in our thoughts. We miss you like crazy, as you were the absolute best Chef that the BC has ever had. And we know that you are at the Bridge with so many of our friends...can you please take this gift from Lizzie and share it with everyone?
Lizzie has a large platter filled with sweet potato fries and Dragon Fire Ribs, and she sets it down on the bench in front of the pond at Turkelton's Rainbow Reflecting Garden. She sees Turk up in the oak tree, and waves and smiles. Kaji is happy that Lizzie can see Turk, and he waves a wing in the direction she is looking.

My darling angel Turkelton, Jenny with a message
...as I celebrate in my own way, another anniversary of your passing, I am reminded of how sorely missed you are! You were always the spark and inspiration to all who knew you, your charming wit and drop dead handsome looks, and goodness knows, no pun intended, and those hot cinnamon rolls and blueberry turnovers you used to bake and I could stop in and snitch one and you never said a word, wow! As coincidence would have it, I have an odd bit of news, that you jist might find enlightening, a little bit ago, our aunt Cindy sent a note primarily discussing the lack of water in Houston and in doing so mentioned that her and her husband were standing out in the driveway probably praying for rain, when a little yellow budgie fluttered weakly nearby, and it was clearly thirsty and distressed! After nearly an hour of coaxing, she was able to reach down and pick it up and take it in the house to give nourishment and water, as she had an extra cage that she actually put together for this little orphan! Knowing her sense of fair play she will give it a temporary home and nurse then back to health, while trying to find its owner, and if all fails, s himhe will keep it herself to give her and Pico another friend to play with! My question to you is, did you play any part in this heavenly intervention, it sounds like something you might do, but if you'd rather not say I will understand that also I know you angels have your little secrets, but if you are involved in this one a million chance meeting, let me just say that you did well! enjoy the rest of your day if you see my friend Asha, please give her my love...

So sorry to have missed you this side of the bridge. You were such a handsome budgie. My mom has had several, the 'favorite' lived 8 years with a tumor. budgies are so friendly, smart, and funny. They tend to create games to play with their humans. We know you are missed.

Hi ya Turk~~
I'm filling in the calendar for the month and noted your Rainbow Bridge day is tomorrow. Since I was flying by anyway~I didn't have your page number~~I figured I'd stop to say hello! I know there is no bedtime on the Rainbow Bridge, so I knew I wouldn't be bothering you!
Not much exciting going on. I watched a movie this morning which was strange, but we had fun. We just don't watch too many things. Dad got cable back. The cable company offered basic cable for the same price we were paying for the internet, so dad jumped at the chance. He watches a lot of Home and Garden TV. Mom and I were watching a show about people looking for houses in different countries. It was very interesting and we were surprised by some of the places. Did you know almost everyone wants a house near the ocean??? We like forests and mountains better.
Give my love to all my friends up there!

Angel Chilli slowly enters the castle
and makes her way to the special room for all the angel BOTD birdies. As she makes her way through the large doors she sees a room filled with beautiful birdies, a number to large to count. She knows some, who were with her at the Rainbow Bridge. She soon learns that all birdies are from the Rainbow Bridge. Their feathers are all aglow. The sick are once again, well. The injured ar once again, strong and healthy. The abused are once again, happy and safe. Chilli makes her way through the crowd, greeting many who she knows.
At the front of the room, Chilli sees two beautiful budgies, a male and a female, both wearing golden crowns that glow brightly. Chilli aproches the two budgies and kneels.
"Angel Turk, Angel Betty, I'm Chilli, from the La Habra flock. We've never met until now but I know all about you. Turk, I worked at the Proud Bird Pie Shop with my sister, Sunny. She knew you. Betty, your love for Turk was widely know on the BC and many were very sad when you flew to the Rainbow Bridge. And when Turk flew to be with you, we all understood and were sad to loose Turk but happy that you two were together again.
I miss my family so very much but I was called to the Rainbow Bridge to help in feeding and caring for all the abused birdies that arrived. Well, I just wanted to wish you both a Merry Christmas".
