Major is a rescue that I agreed to foster. Two of my friends got together and conned me into adopting Major so they could have regular access to a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo..

Hi! My name is Major

I am a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo from Winter Springs, FL.

I refer to Major as Pepe Le Pew, because he is always talking sweetly to a female cockatoo somewhere. The sounds are truly beautiful.

Major Mitchell's Cockatoo

Major likes most nuts, especially almonds, peanuts, walnuts, and pistachios. He also likes baked sweet potato, but, won't eat it off a spoon, so, I swear it on his perch and he eats it there.

Major loves to visit the perch-stand in my computer room. There he gets to hangout with my foster cockatoo, Claire.

Major likes attention, but, only likes to get scritches on his head or play beakie games. No cuddling or back stroking. That makes him nervous.

Major loves to go places. He is always on his best behavior when we are out. He shows his excitement by swinging upside-down from the top of his carrier.

At eight years old, Major has just started talking for the first time in his life. He says, "Hi Major" when looking for attention..

Life is good on my stand..
