 Mom had always wanted a parrot, and if she got one, it's name would be Martini. She went to a local pet store with some friends and saw me. She asked for me to be taken out of the cage I was in and said "Hello Martini". I stepped on to her hand and it it was love at first sight! (:>. |

 Mama put a small plastic ball with a bell inside of it in one of my treats bowls at the top of my play gym. I climb up there and take the ball and shake and shake it and bob my head. It is great fun!.

Hi ya Martini~
I hope you are having a wonderful day. I've got the gardeners here to watch. They are outside my window mowing the lawns! Pretty soon Mandy will be woofing to go out just because she likes to smell the fresh cut grass! Mom takes her for a walk everyday and Mandy has decided she likes to walk down to the Starbucks. Do you suppose it's the scones they sell? I always share my scones with her so maybe she figured she just go down there and get us some! I like the way she thinks!!
Mom already went to the market before I even got up! The store is open 24 hours a day. It's less crowded early in the mornings but mom has to put up with freight on the floor and the floor scrubber being used. Since she works nights at a store, she is use to that stuff.
She got me some pecans so I'm looking forward to my snack! I'll be having apples and pecans today! Yum!
I'll be supervising the chores later on and letting mom know how she should do stuff! We all know our parronts would be lost without us!!

I hope that sounds all excited and stuff.
Guess what else? Mom says I'm a really smart girl! I was told this after I figured out a foraging toy that a couple of my goofball conure brothers couldn't manage, or least they kept acting like they couldn't. Maybe it was just so mom would come in and spin the bottom tray so the food would fall down. Me, I just seemed to know that the tray needs to be turned and the top wheel needs a shake back and forth to get things moving if there's a jam. Let me tell you, it was painful watching those guys NOT know what to do. Maybe, if they've been watching me, they'll know what to do next time they get the device back.
Okay, enough bragging out of me. I hope you and your mom had a Happy Day together on this Mother's Day Sunday. I didn't even get to sit with mine but that's okay, she hung out in the bird room a lot to day, rearranging things and telling me I'm a smart girl. Good enough for me!
Kisses and more kisses for you, Mr. Short Field. Would you like me to come by and get you for the Opening Ceremonies tomorrow? We could sit together and watch the show.... and hold wingtips while doing it.

Our First Game is Thursday 5/16 @ 3 pm
Crackerjack Conures!!!!!
Listen up! Our first game will be Thursday against the Wonder Wings team! It should be a great game and we're playing against my frother Scion! hehehe! The first pitch goes at 3 pm EST. If you can't be there during the game, try to fly over to the stadium either earlier or later to see what is going on there. This year participation is everything and it will be checked by the officials! I sent out the season calendar with all our games on it yesterday in an email. Let me know if you didn't receive it!
I have two chores for the team!
1. Please blog me your hatch day - so we can be sure to give your the hatch day wishes from the team on your special day.
2. Please fly around and say hi to each CJC team member. We do have some new team members this year and we need to make them welcome! The team roster is on my profile page with everybirds' page number.
Tomorrow is Opening Day - the events begin at 2:30 EST but the first pitch is at 3 pm EST and the White Hawks are playing the Pois. It will be a great game if you have a chance to fly by! See you there! And see you at our first game on Thursday afternoon!

I hope you are having a fun day! I sure hope your mom is feeling much better. It's awful when they get sick! I know I hate it when mom isn't feeling well!
I've been watching the gardners all morning. They are out mowing all the lawns. They trimmed the bushes last week so I don't think they will be doing that today. The plants they planted in the front finally bloomed and they are more primroses! All the baskets are primroses too. There is are two hanging basket right below my living room window so I can sit there and admire it. Mom says the thing they are hanging from is called a pergola. It is along the driveway into the complex, right across from this box thing that you punch numbers into to open the gate. I consider myself a lucky bird to have my own planters out there!
Thank you for the compliment on my baseball picture. Aunt Denise did them and I think they are just beautiful. I like all the team pictures this year! It's very cool that we have 2 new teams playing too. I think it's going to be a fun season. I'm sorta glad that I'm not playing the first week. I've got my Hello Kitty lunch box cleaned up and ready to go. It's always fun to sit in the stands and watch and munch!hehehehe

Nope - no game today! The commish had to wait to get some teams filled so they postponed it for a week. Next Monday at 2:30 is the opening ceremony at the stadium 239836. I still haven't gotten a list with our games but you'll be one of the first to know when I do! yay!
Hope your mom is feeling better! Give her lots of snuggles!

We tied with Phoenix yesterday as the warmest cities in the US! COOL! That is a first!! I can also just about
guarantee it will be the only time that happens! Usually our weather records tend to be for the wetest place in the US! Today it is back to what May usually looks like up here! We are back to flannel shirt weather!

Hello Martini~
How's my sweetie? Your girl's doing fine. Just fine. I've been shredding cardboard egg cartons, boxes and popsicle sticks like my life depends on it. I screeched in mom's left ear enough this week she'll likely be deaf a whole decade sooner. I just can't help telling Jensen and Zorro to behave while I'm not in the room!
Wonder what you've been doing, what tent you're sleeping in these days, what you're seeing out the window in the sun room when you and your mom are hanging out there together. From my window I can see hyacinths blooming underneath the red bud tree, which does not have any red buds just yet. The daffodils are about done for the season but the tulips are just getting started. The grass is so green it almost hurts the eyes to look at it!!
Hoping your weekend was a nice one and that the week ahead's going to be a good one for you.

The CJCs will have a baseball practice at Kevlar Stadium #239836 on Saturday at 1 pm CST - that's 2 pm EST! I hope you'll be able to fly over. It's a little short notice but then again, baseball season kickoff is almost upon us - May 6th!
We will also have informal practices at the Stadium next week on Tuesday night at 8 pm EST and on Thursday night at 8 pm EST!
I also have the following workout routine for you to try out at the stadium on your own time!
Five times running around the bases - no flying!
10 sit up at each base, including home
10 jumping jacks at each base, including home
Hop up to the top of the perch stands and back down once
And 5 squats at each base, including home
Feel free to do that workout as many times as you like on the stadium page 239836!
And if anybirdie has any amazing cheers - please let our head cheerleader Kallie know at 195234!

You never need to worry about getting back to me! I totally understand! I have not been getting many notes out lately either! It's all the cleaning stuff that's going on around here. All that stuff from the storage room is just sitting around waiting for a new home.
I suggested that we just keep food and toys since that's all we really need! I don't think my suggestion is going over well!

In all honesty, my hatchday is being celebrated more today than it was yesterday. Oh, I got all the song and dance, my choice of nut out of the jar first thing, a kiss on the to of the head from mom but it was short lived because the family had to take off early afternoon and didn't get back till about my bedtime. I sat with mom for a little bit but I was actually ready to be leaning up again my hut and falling asleep. Today started out just like yesterday did with the nut of choice (I usually have to wait until all the room service is done before getting a snack) and the kisses and pats, but now I'm hanging out, staring at this new little foot toy that mom says is mine. I don't recognize it as mine but if she says it is, I'll believe her. What I really want is the box the toys came in! Maybe the new toy can be hung inside the box like an interior decoration!
Hoping your weekend is a wonderful one from beginning to end.

I do hope you are having a wonderful day! I'm doing just fine. Not much going on around here today. Dad has been cleaning out the storage room to make it into a workshop so mom and I have lots of stuff to find a place for. Mom says some of it can just be sent off to goodwill but it will be interesting to see where she is going to put the rest of it! Mom says that if we haven't used it for a while, it is really time to get rid of it. You can tell that mom doesn't like clutter!
I'm going to hang out in the play cage and supervise the job! I'm very good at supervising and I like to shout out lots of suggestions too!!

Hello My Sweet
How are you doing now that your beautiful flight feathers have been trimmed back. Do you sit and flutter your wings and THINK ABOUT how much fun it would be to fly after You Know Who? Sometimes when I think about stuff like that too long, I start that crazy conure swaying. Mom knows my head's full of all sort of naughty ideas when I start swaying like that.
Today I got to try out a new foraging wheel. Kelly and Alfie and Saber all have one. The conure guys got to try one out last week. Yesterday the box with Kelly's hatchday foraging toy arrived and in there was also another of these foraging wheels. It was offered to me and I went right after the goodies inside. It didn't take me but a second to figure out the little knob had to be moved in order to get to more food. I've spun it around so much today I think I may well be dizzy! I may have been dizzy before, I don't know.
The box I have right now for shredding is about half gone already. I made such a pile of paper pieces, they spilled over and into my pellet bowl and I really had to dig to find the eats. Guess I made my very own foraging project!

I hope your day is going great! It's pretty quiet around here. Mom and I are watching the last Harry Potter movie! It's very exciting but very sad too!
It's still cool and rainy here. It got warm for a few days and then went back to being cold again. That is why we had the avalanches up in the mountains. They do avalanche control all the time up there but they had no warning for these avalanches. At least it's closed down now so everyone will be safe.
Mom cleaned my cage out before I even got up this morning! I think that was pretty sneaky of her!! It does look very nice and I have a new toy so I guess it's time to mess it up again! You know we like our cages just so!!

I hope you are having a great day. It actually got a bit cold here so mom put the fireplace on for a while. My tail is now warm and cozy and I'm snacking on some macaroni and peas!
That's funny about you and your That Boy because I'm the same way with my skin brother! He always stops to talk to me and he tells me lots of funny jokes that make me laugh but I squawk everytime he comes in the room! I have tried to bite him a few times but he never gets too close when I'm out. If I'm on mom's shoulder and he comes in the room, I bite mom in the neck so she knows there is danger!hahaha He is the only one of the family that I do that with. Mom has him spend time with me everyday without mom being in the room. He and the skin sister are going to take care of me when mom is gone so I have to get to like him more!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. We are just gonna do some cleaning and cooking. We might even take some time out to watch a movie. I don't care which movie as long as there is popcorn!!

I hope you are having a nice day. It's really wet and really windy up here. I'm in my play cage having more apples so it's all good!
I love apples. I have a little slice of apple every morning along with an almond and a goldfish cracker. It's my favorite snack.
I have not had my wings clipped for a long time now. It use to be done when I was young but when everyone figured out that I don't fly they stopped doing it. Mom is not sure if I just don't fly or if I don't know how to fly. I do flap my wings but I'm standing still while I do it! Maybe one day the mood will hit me and I'll just take off! That would cause a lot of excitiment around here!hehehehehehe

Here's a GOOD MORNING to my Sweetie
Yesterday was sunny but today is going to be a gray one. That's okay, it's been dark for me most of the time anyway because I'm spending lots of time inside my box still, shredding the paper. It's a good thing the box is tied to a "parrot porch", a metal shelf that hangs on the wire cage side, because there's barely anything left of the floor of the box! I hope there's a new box reserved for me somewhere; I think I need a new one.
Thinking of you and wishing we could shred boxes together.

I hope you are having a wonderful day. Kinda slow news day around here. Mom is doing laundry and I am eating apples! I don't mind it being quiet as long as I get to hang out with mom.
Mom got me a bunch of new books from the library so I have been enjoying them. Mom didn't find anything to read but she didn't have a lot of time to hang out there. She'd spend hours there if she could! It's always such a peaceful place.
Mom figured out how to capture pictures from video and other pages where you don't have the save option. She was able to save my avatar in my picture file! Now she is going nuts looking for videos. I'm sure most of the world already knows how to do this but it's a big thing for mom!

Glad to know your family is back home safely. We're almost to another weekend so there's that to look forward to now.
I can just picture you at the bottom of your cage shredding away at the papers. Saber, the first African Grey here (the one that really wants to eat me), he has the most unique style of shredding his floor papers. He goes around the edge tearing out tiny triangles until the paper looks as if the entire edge has been cut with pinking sheers! It's the wildest thing. I am definitely not that neat. I ripe and tear until I've got a nice big pile in one corner and then I bury myself in it. Of course I only get to do this on the times mom's away and I'm in my vacation condo. Somebody's else is on the vacation while I'm stuck in the condo, but that's what that cage is called around here. I'd get run over if I got down on the floor in my room; the cockatiels play under the paper that's laid over the whole floor. They nibble trails all over underneath! When mom rolls it up in the morning there's tons of tiny pieces of paper everywhere under there. Looks very much like a truckload of confetti was dumped. Us birds, we're all pretty silly, aren't we.
That show Downtown Abbey, mom read an article about the actual castle that's filmed in and around. She can't wait to watch it herself. The parronts will rent the dvds so they can watch without commercial interruption. I wish I'd get to join in on. I know I'd like it too. Right now they're watching Parenthood. I know this because the TV is right above my room now (furnishings have been majorly moved around here recently) and I can hear snippets of whatever they're watching. I'll never get to join in though because by the time they get set down for a little TV watching, I've long since been tucked in for the night.
Speaking of being tucked in, I'd best share a little kiss with you because it's bedtime already.

The store mom works at has put out all the BBQ's, Patio furniture and outdoor dinnerware now that Easter is over! The mac n cheese was good. I had mac n peas which it much better for me! The family had eaten it all up before dinnertime even got here! They had to fend for themselves since mom was sleeping. She works nights which is why she tries to make stuff for the dinners before she goes to bed! It didn't work out well yesterday!

I thought of you today while shredding the inside of another cardboard box and dismantling part of a wicker basket. I was thinking about how fun it would be for the two of us to work on a project together. Imagine how fast TWO conure beaks could tear something apart!

Hello Martini~
I hope you are having a great day! Pretty boring around here! I'm watching Rio while mom gets some notes done for me! She is just too tired to get much done.
She did manage to make some mac n cheese with left over ham in it so I got some mac n peas!
Mom has 2 more nights to work and then we'll get our weekend. I don't know if she has any plans for us but I'm hoping for something fun to do!
Did you see that the Mariners won their first game? Everyone up here says not to get too excited since it's only one game, but I'm very proud of them!!

Happy Easter Martini!
Your Easter tent, it's the perfect decoration for this holiday! Bet you look so cute when tucked inside it. I wonder what you're doing today as you man the house while the family's away. I'm sure you've been under the papers playing and up on the perch watching the door for Aunt Lisa's daily arrival. I've spent much of today shredding the inside of a small cardboard box that's been secured in my area. Mom says it sounds like there's rats in the wall with me inside tearing away like crazy. Sometimes the paper pieces get piled up so I have to kick them out in order to have room to work some more. There's a lovely mess on the floor I'm sure.

Hello Mr. Beaky Von Squakers!
(I like that one!) So you got a glimpse of where I live and how things are arranged. I can't complain about any of it although there are days I imagine being the only bird like you are. Boy, how different life would be!! Mom is so proud of me for being nice to the 'Tiels and 'Keets that like to come sit on my perches. Sometimes I have a 'Tiel on each side of me and a couple of 'Keets sitting on my water bowl chattering away and I'm cool with it all. For awhile a 'Tiel couple was sleeping just below my tent each night but they've recently decided to relocate to a new perch that was put up. I've even started venturing farther away from my little area. I've taken to jumping over to the perches that are in front of the window. Didn't do that when the conure boys were on the loose because that's where they hung out most of the day. Because they don't have the social manners that I do, they've been banished to confinement for the winter. I'm sure they'll be the most thrilled of our group to have warm weather back so the little birds can relocate to the Bird Barn. Even then though, if Jensen and Zoren don't stop nibbling on the drywall (they slip under the green wall covering), they're going to find themselves in that cage all summer too. Ooo! That means I'd have the whole room to myself, basically speaking! Go ahead Boys, chew on the walls! Kirby doesn't do that so I know he'll be free to roam eventually.
Enough about my crazy life. Let's talk about your peaceful one. That Irish Soda Bread, I bet it was so good. Dad cooked a corned beef and cabbage (several days after St. Pattie's Day) and we all got a nibble of the meat. I was offered the cabbage too but that went straight to the floor! Even the button quail turned their beaks up at that stinky stuff. Yesterday I was given a piece of almond while sitting on mom's shoulder. Normally she doesn't give me snacks while I'm perched on her but she was distracted while talking to dad and as she was snacking on the nuts, she just gave me one too. (I was trying to pull them out of her fingers as she was feeding herself.) The next thing mom knows, she's got nut crumbs down her shirt. That's why I never get snacks while sitting on her!
I hope your Wednesday gives you lots of chances for cuddling with your mom. Don't give up on seeing signs of spring. It has to happen someday! Just think, there'll come a day where we're talking about how HOT it is.

I hope the day is going great! I've got sunshine and we are going to get near 60! I wish I could push the day out to you so you could enjoy it too!
Mom's store sold tons of candy yesterday. They still have tons more and you know people will be buying more. Easter is one of those holidays where people wait until it's nearly here to buy things! Mom understands completely! She bought some jelly beans and the bag is half gone now! It's okay since no one but mom likes jelly beans! They put the candy out early every year cause they know people like mom are going to eat the jelly beans and have to buy more!

Yes, we know that St Patty's day has passed, but it is still March and we're still celebrating!
Date: Saturday, March 23rd
Time: 8PM EDT; 7 CDT; 6 MDT; 5PDT; 2 HI
Place: Milonga Page #165848
The Milonga Ball Room has been turned into a real Irish Pub with everything from shamrocks to green beer. There will be corned beef and cabbage with Irish soda bread to whet your appetite as well, plus you know Lizzie will not be able to keep the feast to such simple fare. All sorts of green treats and such will be served.
Sam and the Scruffy Birds band will play at least one or two Irish tunes for us to jig to, and plenty of good old favorites to dance the night away. Chyna and Sam will sing and dance for your audio and visual entertainment, and you know that is always a treat.
TPB&G will have the bar set up with Guiness and Stout and every kind of Irish whiskey you can think of. From Bailey's to Irish Coffee there is no Irish drink that they won't fix. And for the younger crowd the green limeade and kool aid will go down smooth and gentle.
And of course the awards for the Milonga Irish Profile Pic contest will be given out. This time it has been a "Blind Contest" with everybirdy just voting for the best pics rather than their best friends. We shall see how that turns out. I know one little birdie is definitely going to win favorite pic. She is blowing out the competition. And I know everybirdy will be pleased to see her win. There will be other awards to be won as well though.
So one and all get your green back out (although some of us wear it all year round) and deck out for the best Irish party you ever saw. It is gonna be a toot!

How's my sweet guy? Did you have a nice weekend with your Mama? Mine wouldn't sit still so I didn't get to perch on her shoulder much. Saturday mornign was nice though because she spent a long, long time just hanging out with all of us in the bird rooms. Speaking of my room, I don't think I've told you that a video of the McFlock Bird Rooms has been posted and I'm actually in it. For a second or two anyway. You can see where I hang out! Now that it's the work week again I'm back to hanging out at the computer. Come to find out, weekdays are probably my favorites because they give me more chances to sit with mom. Sundays are the worst because of the house projects that distract her.
I bet your Owl tent is so darling, especially when you're in it. *grin* That's hilarious that you get and roll around so as to leave your mark. And I like the "clean sheets on Saturday". That's cute. You're right about the time change having a dreadful affect. I'm more than ready for my tent to be hung up even though the sun's still shining. According to MY clock, it should be dark at 6, not 7. Grrrr. The thought of the sun staying awake till after 9 in the summer is depressing already. Those birds on the equator are lucky... up at 6, down at 6.

Stopping by to wish you a very Happy St. Patrick's day! Don't you just love holidays that have special food? I sure do. There is a lovely loaf of soda bread out there and I can't wait to get my beak in it!!!
We got another cold front moving thru today but not really that cold. The daffodils are blooming and there are buds on the trees so I know Spring is very close.
There are all those frogs too! Every night they are out there making all kinds of noise!! I guess they don't realize that I am trying to get my beauty sleep!! Dad says I better get use to it because they will probably be out there for a few months. Bummer!!!
