I love my hanging toy in the living room ceiling; I get excited when I get to go outside on the porch in my cage

When napping sort of keeps one eye open to see what is going on.

I love how they tickle tickle my head and don't expect me to always be sitting with them. Mom is always there when I need tickle tickle or some cuddling.

Loves to fuss at his parronts if he doesn't like something. My mom says I look like a little old man when I walk around and fuss at everybody! I hate it when anyone carries anything big past my cage! I love to help dad feed the flock at breakfast time!.

Where's the food?.

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you had a wonderful day! We did some laundry today. The turkey will be cooked in the morning finally! Mom did not take into account that it was going to be cooked 3 days early so it needed 3 more days to defrost! They had the ham last night and it was very good. I got my corn bread so I am very happy!
The BC has been moving very slowly when I am moving from page to page. It seems to need to think for a minute before it goes to the next page!! We logged off for a while and are trying it again. So far it's been better.
How are you feeling? I sure hope you are doing well. THere is a web site mom reads once in a while called Bird Tricks and there was a blog about hadicap cage set ups. It might give your mom some ideas.
You know I pray for you everyday. I want you to stay healthy and happy always! I know you must have some days that are very hard but hang in there Scion!!
Mom starts an 8 day stretch at work tomorrow night so I will wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving in case I don't get much time online tomorrow! I am thankful to have you for my cousin! My life is so much richer having you in it and I feel so very blessed!

`Ü´ Greetings & A Lovely Monday to You
Mr Scion!

I do hope that your Saturday and Sunday were full of fun and productivity. I know in my case I had to relinquish Momma’s eggsclusive attention and assistance on my Campaign to be your December Bird of the Month to more pressing parrontal matters around our K Kritter Korral. (The portion of Sunday during which Momma was available to bring me to your page for a visit, the BirdChannel was not cooperating. You might say that their GPS was out of order! **TeeHee**)

You see, Momma and Daddy were informed that they could eggspect a visit from my Grandma from Idaho from later today, to last thru Thursday morning when they all gather at Daddy’s youngest brother’s home about an hour away from us for the first Family Celebration with everyone present since Momma and Daddy have known each other. Grandma was eager to be able to spend time here with Momma and Daddy, and all of us fids of course, before joining the rest of the family for a concurrent Celebration of Thanksgiving and her BirthDay on Thursday! Then she will remain with my Uncle and his family until she returns to her home in Idaho later in the week, while my other Uncle comes to pay us a visit over the long weekend.

So, all of this is to say that my visits may be a bit sporadic from now thru the end of the month, due to Grandma’s visit, the Holiday weekend with my Uncle visiting, and the upcoming Milonga Thanksgiving Bowl Game. I do apologize in advance for any visits I shall have to forego. But rest assured that I shall continue to do my utmost to bring you the maximum amount of FootBall information in the time we have left together.

And on that note, let us get straight to the information I’ve promised you next about the Offensive Squad on a FootBall team …

Let’s begin our eggsamination of the individual Positions on the Offensive Squad.

QuarterBack – The Player who usually receives the ball from the Center at the start of each play. He informs his TeamMates in the huddle of the play that will be run and then, after the Center snaps* the ball to him, either hands the ball to a Running Back or throws to a Receiver.

Center – The Player who hikes (or snaps) the ball to the QuarterBack at the start of each play. The term comes from the fact that this Player is flanked on either side by a Guard and a Tackle; he’s the “MiddleMan” (or Center) in a contingent of five Offensive LineMen or Blockers. He handles the ball on every play and also snaps the ball to the Punter and Holder.

Guard – There are two Guards on every play, and they line up on either side of the Offensive Center. The Guards protect the QuarterBack from an Inside Rusher; they block Defenders immediately across from them and also swing out, or pull**, and run toward either end [of the line] to block any Defender when the ball carrier runs wide°.

Come visit me, `Ü´ Ruby Coaches the Offense.

11/24/2014 12:02.59 PM Report This Comment
Tackle – Both Offensive and Defensive, on Offense they are Outside Blockers on the line of scrimmage°°.

Tight End – Serves as a BIG Receiver [Oh MY!] and also a Blocker. Unlike a Wide Receiver, this Player generally lines up beside the Offensive Tackle either to the right or to the left of the QuarterBack. (Also “Strong Side+”)

Wide Receiver – The Player who uses his speed and quickness to elude Defenders and catch the FootBall, but who isn’t primarily a Blocker. Wide Receivers are also known as “pass catchers” [but I-I-I would parrotsonally NOT disparage one so!]. Also called a WideOut.

Running Back – A Player who runs with the FootBall. Running Backs are also referred to as TailBacks and HalfBacks, depending on their exact responsibilities and alignment.

FullBack – A Player who lines up in the Offensive backfield++ and generally is responsible for blocking for the Running Back and pass-blocking to protect the QuarterBack. FullBacks also serve as short-yardage runners.

I would also like to call your attention to a display of several of the basic Offensive Formations which appear in the Gallery at the bottom of my page. (They also appear in my Profile Picture at the top of my page; but they are much clearer and contain eggsplanatory text in the photos in the Gallery.) I hope these are of use to you in recognizing some of what happens on the actual field of play the next time you watch a FootBall Game.

I am also including several definitions of terms used in the above Position Descriptions at the end of this note.

Have a Greyt Day! Perhaps enjoy watching The Jets play The Bills at 7:00 pm on CBS, or The Ravens play at The Saints at 8:30 pm on ESPN. Both times are EST. Remember, it is virtually illegal to watch a FootBall Game quietly. So do what we Avians are most well-known for doing … **S*Q*U*A*W*K** . **I*T** . **U*P** ! ! !

À la prochen frois, mon ami,
[Until next time, My Featheriend]
`Ü´ Ruby Francesca Beongia ♥

*snap—the action in which the ball in handed or hiked by the Center to the QuarterBack, to the Holder on a kick attempt, or to the Punter.
**pull—when a player leaves one area of the field, generally moving back and then over, to block in an area other than his normal position.
°run wide
°°line of scrimmage—the imaginary boundary between the two teams prior to the snap of the ball. The Offense’s and Defense’s scrimmage lines are defined by the tip of the ball closest to them and stretch from sideline to sideline. The Defensive Team usually lines up less than a yard away from where the ball is placed.
+strong side—the side of the Offensive formation where the Tight End aligns. With a right-handed QuarterBack, the strong side is usually to his right side.
++backfield—the group of Offensive Players (the Running Backs and QuarterBack) who line up behind the line of scrimmage (vs the Offensive LineMen and/or Receivers who line up at the line of scrimmage).

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you are all having a wonderful day! It's still grey, wet and windy at my house! We have the fireplace on and it's very cozy inside! Mom tells me that if it were sunshine and warm all the time we wouldn't be able to use the fireplace!!
They had the first big snow up on the mountain today and it was a mess!! Snoqualmie pass is the main road between west and east out here and a lot of people use it. There were cars spinning all over the place! Some people didn't check the pass conditions before they went so they didn't have chains with them. Everyone who uses that road knows that you always check the pass conditions no matter what time of the year it is!
Mom is going to get the pantry straightened out today since it looks like something exploded in there!hehehehehe We have too much stuff and need to get some meals cooked. Mom only works 2 nights and then she'll be off 2 nights so we will have our Thanksgiving then. She got a ham and a turkey since they were great deals! Most stores don't do the cheap turkeys anymore but mom found one where she got the turkey for 48 cents a pound! I'm just looking forward to the corn bread! Maybe some pumpkin pie too!
Do your parronts celebrate Thanksgiving? I know it's not the same kind of holiday in Mexico but since it's about being Thankful, I think everyone should celebrate!
You enjoy your day! I hope you are doing well and are healthy and happy! Leaving a vote and a hug for you!

`Ü´ Greetings & OH! MY!! GOODness!!!
Mr Scion!

Does anybirdy ELSE realize how much there is to KNOW about FootBall??? Why … I had no idea how much I DIDN’T KNOW until Momma consented to help me learn for the sake of my Quest for the Bird of the Month Crown, and sharing her passion for The Game so that I might understand all of the HoopLa that I hear coming from the area of the television every time she watches a Game!!

HEAVENS to BETSY … and BACK!!!

Well! As promised, we shall begin our investigation into the individual responsibilities of the Players in each Position today. But I fear it will never fit into one day’s note. So we shall simply spread it out over several days so that you, My Featheriend, can take it all in and not fall asleep before you learn what you need to know!

You may recall from our earlier information that the NFL limits active, uniformed Players to 45 per Team on Game Day.

Each FootBall Team has 11 Players per side: 11 on Offense and 11 on Defense. Teams are allowed to play with fewer than 11 Players (and for the LIFE of me I can’t IMAGINE WHY they would WANT to???), but they are penalized for having more than 11 Players on the Field during play. Rarely, a few eggsceptionally talented Players may play both Offense and Defense in the NFL. (And I do believe that we have a few of those eggsceptionally talented Birdie FootBall Players on the Indians and Pilgrims Team Rosters!)

A typical NFL Game Day roster includes three QuarterBacks, a Punter, a PlaceKicker, a Kick Return Specialist, eight Offensive LineMen, four Running Backs, five Receivers, two Tight Ends, seven Defensive LineMen, seven LineBackers, and six Defensive Backs. (The NONSTARTING Players – that is, those who are not among the 22 or so Players who are listed in the Starting LineUp – are considered Reserves, and many of them are Specialists.)

In the NFL, an additional Player can be in uniform, but he must be a QuarterBack and enter the Game only after the other QuarterBacks have been removed from the Game because of injury. When this eggstra QuarterBack, or 46th Player, enters the Game, the other QuarterBacks are deemed ineligible and cannot return to that Game even if they are healthy.

With our very own 3rd Annual Milonga Thanksgiving Bowl Game approaching in a little over a week, and Players needing and wanting to know how to practice to yield the most effective results, when we next meet I shall delve into the individual Positions on the Offensive Squad.

Before I depart this evening, though, I do wish to thank you, once again, for your wonderful continuing support of my efforts to be your Christmas Queen on BirdChannel. I am truly beginning to feel the eggscitement of the prospect of having my dream realized. You and your featheriendship are appreciated more than you know.

A bientot, mon ami,

  `Ü´ Greetings & Good Evening
Mr Scion!

I am flitting by this evening for a very short visit to share with you a little bit of the great fun I had this Tuesday past presenting a program with Momma for The Sylvan Seniors at Mt Sylvan United Methodist Church in Durham, where Momma and Daddy attend. (They do not attend the s-e-n-i-o-r-s functions. **TeeHee** They attend CHURCH there.)

Momma and I were given half an hour to address the group, to share what Life with a Parrot is like, for most of them had never had an eggsperience with a companion parrot; particularly not one of my size! When we have a program like that, Momma usually starts out by eggsplaining how she and Daddy came to start a flock like the K Kritter Korral, and how it grew; and then, through sheer human curiosity, we have a wonderful conversation about what all is entailed in living with a parrot (or parrotS). Of course, I-I-I contribute greatly to program content; this time including a stroll back and forth in front of the front row at one point, for emphasis of the subject matter at hand. (At just the right point in time I climbed down off my play stand and let Momma know I had something to add. **GRiN**)

When our time for the presentation was over, the group had some lunch together. I was given my fill of some lovely white grapes by a number of brave ladies and gentlemen, and then several of them wanted to have their picture taken with me. In my Gallery at the bottom of my page you can see just a couple of the lovely folks I visited with parrotsonally.

I shall return with those promised eggsplanations of the positions of the players on a FootBall team when next I visit.

  SEASON AND PLAYOFF DEVELOPMENT
From 1920 to 1934, the NFL did not have a set number of games for teams to play, instead setting a minimum. The league mandated a 12-game regular season for each team beginning in 1935, later shortening this to 11 games in 1937 and 10 games in 1943, mainly due to World War II. After the war ended, the number of games returned to 11 games in1946 and to 12 in 1947. The NFL went to a 14-game schedule in 1961, which it retained until switching to the current 16-game schedule in 1978. Proposals to increase the regular season to 18 games have been made, but have been rejected in labor negotiations with the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).

The NFL operated in a two-conference system from 1933 to 1966, where the champions of each conference would meet in the NFL Championship Game. If two teams tied for the conference lead, they would meet in a one-game playoff to determine the conference champion. In 1967, the NFL expanded from 15 teams to 16 teams. Instead of just evening out the conferences by adding the expansion New Orleans Saints to the seven-member Western Conference, the NFL realigned the conferences and split each into two four-team divisions. The four conference champions would meet in the NFL playoffs, a two-round playoff. The NFL also operated the Playoff Bowl (officially the Bert Bell Benefit Bowl) from 1960 to 1969. Effectively a third-place game, pitting the two conference runners-up against each other, the league considers Playoff Bowls to have been exhibitions rather than playoff games. The league discontinued the Playoff Bowl in 1970 due to its perception as a game for losers.

Following the addition of the former AFL teams into the NFL in 1970, the NFL split into two conferences with three divisions each. The expanded league, now with twenty-six teams, would also feature an expanded eight-team eight-game playoff, the participants being the three division champions from each conference as well as one 'wild card' team (the team with the best win percentage) from each conference. In 1978, the league added a second wild card team from each conference, bringing the total number of playoff teams to ten, and a further two wild card teams were added in 1990 to bring the total to twelve. When the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002, the league realigned, changing the division structure from three divisions in each conference to four divisions in each conference. As each division champion gets a playoff bid, the number of wild card teams from each conference dropped from three to two.

Next time, I shall be pleased to present The Players who will be participating in the upcoming 3rd Annual Milonga Thanksgiving Bowl Game, as well as the CheerLeading Squads! Be sure to tune in to find out which birdies will be playing in which positions and on which squad. In the coming days we shall investigate the distinctions between the positions!

  `Ü´ Greetings & Happy Sunday
Mr Scion!

It would seem that most of North America is in the middle of an early onset of Winter, wouldn’t it? There are those FootBall Fans who would call this REAL FootBall Weather! And in view of the “chill” in the air, I am bringing mugs of Hot Cocoa (with marshmallows, if you like) for us to enjoy during my visit today. But this is what I would like to inquire of you: Is this weather inspiring everybirdy to prepare for the upcoming 3rd ANNUAL MILONGA THANKSGIVING BOWL GAME??? **Tee Hee**

Today I am deviating a bit from the previous path of information about the NFL in order to address two questions that were presented by several birdies regarding my last note.

First, a number of you asked if the entire building at 345 Park Avenue in New York City was occupied by the offices of the NFL. Well … no. For an inside look at the Ted Moudis Associates designed NFL headquarters, home to the employees that help power our favorite sport, I direct your attention to the Gallery at the bottom of my Profile Page. The modern, multi-level office space is located, as I mentioned in my last note, at 345 Park Avenue in Lower Manhattan, and was designed by TMA with the goal to “carry its strong brand identity throughout the design.” The office includes a League Room for the owners of our favorite franchises to hold meetings, employee cafeteria complete with kitchen along with an employee store, fitness center for staying in shape with lockers and showers, and a whole lot more. The 4 main floors of the office building were designed to represent the “Four Pillars” of the National Football League, which include The Game, The Teams, The Fans, and of course The Innovation. The 5th floor of the building houses the Officiating Command Center, and the 6th floor includes multiple outdoor terrace areas.

Other current tenants include The Blackstone Group, Consulate General of Ireland, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Capital Trust, Deutsche Bank, KPMG, and Piper Jaffray.

Secondly, several birdies were curious about who the three “pre-NFL/AFL-merger” teams were. As nearly as I can discern, those teams were the AAFC Teams the Cleveland Browns, the San Francisco 49ers, and the original version of the Baltimore Colts.

Since its inception in 1920, the NFL fended off several rival leagues. Before 1960, the most important rival was the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), which began play in 1946. The AAFC differed from the NFL in several ways, and the AAFC's perennial champions—the Cleveland Browns—were considered to be one of the best teams in professional football during that time. However, due to the AAFC's poor financial situation, the league disbanded after the 1949 season.

I do hope I am providing you with interesting and accurate information that satisfies your curiosity about American FootBall, its history and its structure. I am finding the details of my research quite entertaining. Are you?

I am very happy to report than Momma’s hand is much improved! While there is still a bit of swelling and light bruising on the back of her hand, she is now able to fully use her fingers with only minimal hindrance and no discomfort. Thank you so very much for your thoughts and prayers, good wishes and concern. (I believe she and Daddy have plans to purchase a new NylaBone for Mr Tyson; one that he cannot fit through his crate to deposit on the floor and cause more accidents!!!)

When I continue with the background information of American FootBall, we shall be moving along to Season and Playoff Development. I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned in that area with you.

  `Ü´ Greetings & Welcome to Week 11 …
of the 2014 NFL Season! The week “kicked off” (**TeeHee** … if you will pardon the pun) last night with the Buffalo Bills traveling to play the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins won handily, 22-9. I do hope that you were able to enjoy some Stitch’s Spicy PopCorn with the Game!

It was so lovely to receive your visit, Mr Scion, and I thank you so very much for your vote that raises the tally toward my Quest for the BOTM Crown. And it is, once again, with apologies that I am a day late returning the kindness. For those of you who did not see the note on my page, Momma had a bit of an accident which prohibited her being able to assist me in visiting you. It involved a little mishap with a dog toy on which Momma slipped and, in the attempt to catch herself and prevent falling, she injured her hand on the door frame. It is very sore yet today, so I will not be able to leave any parrotsonal comments on my visit as I prefer doing, but will be resolved to using the copy and paste method of delivery for the time being, until Momma’s had is less sore. (It seems that she can click on the left side of the mouse without too much discomfort. The right button is a bit painful. And typing is one key at a time; not conducive to individualizing each note.) Be that as it may, she is determined to keep in step with my FootBall information for you.

Now, let’s pick up where we left off, completing the Founding and History of the NFL before we move on to Season and Playoff Development next.

UNTIL THE 1960s, the NFL was the dominant professional football league and faced little competition. Rival leagues included three separate American Football Leagues and the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), none of which lasted for more than four seasons (although several teams from the AAFC joined the NFL after the league dissolved in 1949). A new professional league, the fourth American Football League (AFL), began play in 1960. The upstart AFL began to challenge the established NFL in popularity, gaining lucrative television contracts and engaging in a bidding war with the NFL for free agents and draft picks. The two leagues announced a merger on June 8, 1966, to take full effect in 1970. In the meantime, the leagues would hold a common draft and championship game. The game, the Super Bowl, was held four times before the merger, with the NFL winning Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II, and the AFL winning Super Bowl III and Super Bowl IV. After the league merged, it was split into two conferences: the National Football Conference (NFC), consisting of most of the pre-merger NFL teams, and the American Football Conference (AFC), consisting of all of the AFL teams as well as three pre-merger NFL teams.

TODAY, THE NFL is considered the most popular sports league in North America; much of its growth is attributed to former Commissioner Pete Rozelle, who led the league from 1960 to 1989. Overall annual attendance increased from three million at the beginning of his tenure to seventeen million by the end of his tenure, and 400 million viewers watched 1989's Super Bowl XXIII. The NFL established NFL Properties in 1963. The league's licensing wing, NFL Properties earns the league billions of dollars annually; Rozelle's tenure also marked the creation of NFL Charities and a national partnership with United Way. Paul Tagliabue was elected as commissioner to succeed Rozelle; his seventeen-year tenure, which ended in 2006, was marked by large increases in television contracts and the addition of four expansion teams, as well as the introduction of league initiatives to increase the number of minorities in league and team management roles. The league's current Commissioner, Roger Goodell, has focused on reducing the number of illegal hits and making the sport safer, mainly through fining or suspending players who break rules. These actions are one of many the NFL is taking to reduce concussions and improve player safety.

I hope having a more complete image of the beginnings of American FootBall will be of some help in adding to your enjoyment of the Sport.

  `Ü´ Greetings Mr Scion!
I do hope you were able to locate and read the posting Momma and I put together for Veteran’s Day yesterday. I apologize for both of us that we did not visit anybirdy yesterday. Momma had made an appointment for both me and Caique frother Sammy to have nail and beak trims with Dr Burkett, the BirdVet [and if you look him up on the internet, that is how you will find him listed **TeeHee**] in the afternoon, after she finished up with all of her other responsibilities, and during the time when we would normally have begun our visits. The greater complication arose when I became very agitated and overwhelmed during my beak trim. Dr Burkett even stopped his work before he finished all that he wanted to do because he told Momma it was not worth stressing me out further. Momma was VERY concerned because I was breathing so very hard, as was Dr Burkett.

At any rate, once we got home, and after Momma stayed with me for a long time to make sure that I was completely restored to normal, she herself was so stressed out that she was unable to settle herself down so that we could go to work delivering my note to everybirdy. Daddy and I both insisted that she just take the evening to calm herself and regain her composure before trying to go to sleep at bedtime so that she COULD get a good night’s rest, knowing full well that she would not be able to focus enough to be efficient while working on the computer and would therefore likely be up all night (being stubborn as she is) to complete the task.

What was so important that Momma would have scheduled an appointment with Dr Burkett for something as basic as a nail and beak trim right in the middle of the heightened activity of my Quest for the Crown? Well, I have a Public Appearance scheduled with the Seniors Group at Momma and Daddy’s church this coming Monday, and Momma wanted to be sure that my nails and beak would not be off-putting when they wanted to hold me. (And everybirdy ALWAYS wants to hold me! **GiGGle**) Besides, I-I-I always insist on looking my best when I have an appearance in front of the public.

It is so kind of you, Mr Scion. to come to call both Monday and yesterday. I do so appreciate your visits and your votes.

I shall look forward to visiting again tomorrow when we shall complete our Founding and History of American FootBall, and then move on to Season and Playoff Development the next time.

Toutes alors, mon ami

`Ü´ Greetings & Happy Weekend Mr Scion!
And how are you faring on this lovely Sunday, My Featheriend? In my last post, I alluded to the familiar saying, “Man [and LadyBirds and their mommas] plan, and God laughs!” Well, Father God is having a BELLY LAUGH today on The K Kritter Korral!!!

The first thing Saturday morning, on a day that Momma was absolutely certain would be a day in which we could easily visit each of my featheriends at a leisurely pace, she needed to phone our Kittys’ Veterinary Hospital once a-g-a-i-n and make an appointment for a DIFFERENT KITTY from last week’s visit to be seen immediately. Yesterday morning it was Mr Larry Kitty who was having difficulties and throwing up multiple times; and it concerned Momma greatly. Momma and Daddy took him to see Dr Ken at the kitties’ new Triangle Clinic in Durham and once again Dr Ken gave our kitty an injection to make him feel better. It does seem to be working, and Momma is more at ease about the situation now. But the whole turn of events had, once a-g-a-i-n, set us behind schedule.

So, without further ado, I shall move immediately to Part II of “The History of the NFL”. Previously we talked a bit about how the League was born, and how it reached its current structure. Today we shall take a brief look at how the Teams are regulated and Championship Records from previous Seasons.

  EACH TEAM IS ALLOWED
to have up to 53 players during the regular season, but only 46 can be active (eligible to play) on game days. Teams are given exclusive rights to sign free agents* that have three or fewer seasons in the league, but free agents that have been in the league at least four years can sign with any team of their choosing. Each team is subject to a salary cap**.

The champions of the most recent season, the 2013 season, are the Seattle Seahawks, who defeated the Denver Broncos by a score of 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII. The team with the most championships is the Green Bay Packers, who have won 13 championships. The team that currently has the second most Super Bowl championships is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have won six.

In an earnest effort to keep my notes to a minimum, I shall bring this portion of our investigation into FootBall to a close for today. I hope you have enjoyed learning a little bit of the foundation of America’s BIGGEST Sport. I most certainly have enjoyed bringing it to you.

Have a lovely day. A bientot, mon ami [See you soon, My Featheriend]

DEFINITIONS:

*free agent – A player who is eligible to sign with any club or franchise, i.e. not under contract to any specific team. The term is also used in reference to a player who is under contract at present, but who is allowed to solicit contract offers from other teams. In some circumstances, the free agent's options are limited by league rules. (The term came into wider use after the league stopped using a "reserve clause", which provided a repetitive option for a club to renew the contract for one or more years but did not allow the player to terminate it.)

**salary cap – An agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount of money that a team can spend on player salaries. The limit exists as a per-player limit or a total limit for the team's roster, or both. (The league implemented salary caps both as a method of keeping overall costs down and to ensure parity between teams so wealthy teams cannot entrench dominance by signing many more top players than their rivals.)

Greetings & Good Thursday, Mr Scion.

Once again, what Momma and I had planned for today’s note has been foiled by circumstance! However, THIS time, it is a HAPPY circumstance. Let me eggsplain. The first thing I had intended to do was to eggstend my parrotsonal invitation to you to hurry over to The Milonga Page (#165848) to sign up to be either a Member of one of the Teams to play in this year’s Annual Birdie FootBall Milonga Championship Bowl, or to participate as a CheerLeader for this year’s Game. WELL!!! As of Mr Kiddo’s visit last evening, I was informed that there have already been 31 Birdies sign up to be Players, and 10 to be CheerLeaders! So, at this point in time, you now have only until midnight TODAY (Thursday, November 6) to be able to participate on the Field in either capacity. (And I do believe that would be midnight Pacific Time.) Please do HURRY if you still wish to be a part of the Playing FuN. But, whatever you do, BE SURE to mark the date on your calendar, November 29th, to attend this wonderful Annual Event and root for your favorite Team to win; either the Pilgrims or the Indians. As my frother, (Ö> Jake would be prone to say here, “Be there, or be SQUARE!!!” **TeeHee**

  Now, moving on …
to today’s planned History of the National FootBall League, this may serve to give us all a clearer picture of our American FootBall Heritage.

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league that constitutes one of the four major professional sports leagues in North America. It is composed of 32 teams divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). The highest professional level of the sport in the world, the NFL runs a 17-week regular season from the week after Labor Day to the week after Christmas, with each team playing sixteen games and having one bye week* each season. Out of the league's 32 teams, six (four division winners and two wild-card teams**) from each conference compete in the NFL playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the Super Bowl, played between the champions of the NFC and AFC. The champions of the Super Bowl are awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Various other awards exist to recognize individual players and coaches. Most games are played on Sunday afternoons; some games are also played on Mondays and Thursdays during the regular season. There are games on Saturdays during the first two playoff weekends. Sometimes, there are also Saturday games during the last few weeks of the regular season.

The NFL was formed on August 20, 1920, as the American Professional Football Conference; the league changed its name to the American Professional Football Association (APFA) on September 17, 1920, and changed its name to the National Football League on June 24, 1922, after spending the 1920 and 1921 seasons as the APFA. Following the NFL's merger with the All-America Football Conference at the end of 1949, the league adopted the name National-American Football League, but reverted back to National Football League three months later. In 1966, the NFL agreed to merge with the rival American Football League (AFL), effective 1970; THE FIRST SUPER BOWL WAS HELD at the end of that same season IN JANUARY 1967. Today, the NFL has the highest average attendance (67,591) of any professional sports league in the world and is the most popular sports league in the United States. The Super Bowl is among the biggest club sporting events in the world and individual Super Bowl games account for many of the most-watched television programs in American history. At the corporate level, the NFL is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) association. The NFL's executive officer is the commissioner, who has broad authority in governing the league.

At this point, I shall conclude my History Lesson for the day. I shall pick up with the balance of the lesson with my next note.

Have a lovely day. À la prochen frois, mon ami [Until next time, My Featheriend]

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I'm having fun so far!
It was stormy here all night but when we woke up this morning there was a rainbow outside the window! So very pretty and what a lovely thing to see at the start of the day! It didn't last very long but I hope all those people out in the busy morning traffic got to see it and I hope it brought a smile to their faces.
The last load of laundry is in the dryer. It's the towels mom uses on Mandy. She has become a pretty high maintenance dog lately but mom said that is to be expected with her age. She still eats like there is no tomorrow and still plays with her toys. The play time has to be gentle due to her physical limitations but she still enjoys it. Since she is 4 years past the life expectancy for her breed, we feel blessed to still have her in our lives. She and I have been together her entire life and even if I do still try to nip her if she gets too close, I love her!
Mom got a lot of fruit yesterday so I am having a fruit salad today. I got some peaches yesterday with my apple and they were good. No telling is I will decide to eat a banana today or not. Somedays I like them and others I do not! I like being contrary because that is what us birds do! It's good to keep the parronts guessing!hehehehehe
I do hope your day is just perfect! Stomping out a vote and sending hugs your way!
Love you ~ Sugar ♥

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you are having a great day! I don't like hearing that you are having a hard time getting around. I am happy to know that you still have a good appetite! If your eyesight is getting bad I know that you will adapt. We birds are very good at that! You know I keep you in my prayers every single day!
I think it is so very cool that you actually got some kids that came by on Halloween! I don't think too many people actually take their kids out anymore. Every year there seems to be more and more Halloween candy left over. I guess parties are the way people are going. At least lots of people still dress up!
From what you said about the church not liking Halloween much I take it that they are still a major influence on people down there. I think maybe they don't see Halloween as something fun for kids.
The Haunted Hike sounds like so much fun! When mom was a kid they went on a scavenger hunt at a Halloween party! Mom had to carry shaving cream in her hand for the longest time! It was fun but pretty icky!
Mom was off last night and is off again tonight. She usually has Thursday and Friday nights off but it being the holidays there are lots of extra ads that her store is running. She told them that on the 20th and 21st she needs her usual days off. She has tickets to see Mockingjay pat 1 and on the 21st it's her and dad's 32nd anniversary. She is hoping dad will make it home so that they can go out to dinner.
I hope you have a wonderful day and get lots of cuddle time! I am going to supervise chores and play with the new toy in my play cage!!
Leaving a vote and a big hug! You take care of you!!

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! Happy November!
For the 9th year in a row, no one came to trick or treat! Mom is so disappointed! Maybe next year!
Mom and the kids went to the mall in the afternoon. Mom did her walk while the kids were at Gamestop. There were a few people dressed up so that was cool!
Dad delivered locally so he got to come home over night. They went to have dinner at the Mexican restaurant down the street and everyone there was dressed up. Their waiter was dressed as Chumbly from Pawn Stars and some of the people there had the Dia de Los Muertos face painting! It was awesome! There was a lady having dinner there with her family and she was dressed as Tinkerbell! She did the costume herself and even had her hair pinned up the way Tinkerbell does! Her little girl was Cinderella but they made her take the costume off while she ate! Probably a good idea!
I hope all is well and that you are feeling good!
I think mom is off to clean the turtle tank so I'll be there to supervise for her! I have to make sure the turtles don't try to make a break for it while she is cleaning their tank!
I hope your day is just perfect! Leaving a vote and a big hug too!

I hope you are having a great day! We are getting storms that are the remnants of Hurricane Ana. Lots of wind and wet! Not Hurricane strength winds at least but pretty windy. This is usually how an El Nino winter goes! Lots of wind but not really cold.
I sure hope you are feeling better today! It makes me worry to think of you hiding out all day but maybe you just needed some quiet time. I have days, like today, where I am very loud. Then I will have a day where I am being quiet. It always worries mom when I get very quiet but I think I've just worn myself out on the previous day!
Mom is looking forward to 9am tomorrow when she can buy tickets to go see Mockingjay part 1! She is such a dork! I actually liked watching the other movies with her and I know she loved the books! She has already pointed out 2 scenes from the trailer that were not in the book! SHEESH!! She won't complain because she knows they do that kind of thing and the story is basically the same!
Are you guys going to have a Dia de Los Muertos party? Who was the Quinceanera for? I bet it was lots of fun with lots of yummy food! I hope they shared with you!
Mom has to go back in for 3 hours on Thursday night but she'll be home on Halloween night. No one will come trick or treating but mom got candy anyway. No one has come for 8 years now but mom will never give up!! There is a little boy living on the 3rd floor now so maybe his parents will bring him around!!

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
The new computer is up and running. Dad put Window 8 on it so mom is scrolling around like a lost puppy!! She has pretty much figured our how to get to where she wants to go so that is all that matters. The living room still looks like we've been robbed but mom and I will be working on that today. I am very happy to finally have a computer that is not shutting down every few minutes! We even stayed on Facebook for 10 whole minutes! I know that doesn't sound fantastic but with the old computer it would throw us off after 2 or 3 minutes!
I left the room when dad was building it because there was just too much stuff and I was getting very upset! He shoved the old computer and monitor in front of my playcage!! That was the last straw so I went to climb around my night cage and clear the dresser off for mom! I even shoved my Hello Kitty lunch boxes off! I know it was a big help!
Mom's uncle does Ancestry research and someone sent him pictures of the graves of mom's Great Grandma and Grandpa. They are in upstate New York by Medina. Mom went there when she was a little kid but doesn't really remember much. It was very cool to see it now though.
I hope you enjoy your day! I'm off to help clean the living room up! We can't even turn the fireplace on at the moment because of all the stuff that is in front of it! It has gotten colder here in the last few days so we might actually need it!!

Yep! It's raining a whole bunch today. It finally feels like Autumn in the Northwest! Mom grabbed an umbrella when she took Mandy out this morning because she doesn't move very quickly anymore and mom figured she would be drenched by the time she was done. Well mom gets to the bottom on the stairs and opens up the umbrella and the handle fell right to the ground!! Mom shoved it back in and held it over Mandy. She stayed pretty dry but mom was wet! We have another umbrella that is still in it's package so mom has one to use for the dog. Most people up here don't bother with them at all!

  Hi ya Cuz~~
I hope you are having a great day! Still pretty hot there huh? I guess it never gets very cold down there. That's a good thing for you and the flock. I have to use a light since it gets cold and dark here in the winter.

That neighbor sounds like a big old PITA! I'm sure there are some very nice people who live in Oregon but mom has found that most of them are a bit strange. Years ago before we lived up here mom, Ian and my grandma were driving up here from California to visit mom's youngest brother. They stopped at a Denney's in Oregon to get lunch and when they finished they realized that there was no one left in the restaurant! The waitress and cashier had just left! Mom had to go get the cook so that they could pay for their lunch! They hitchhike on the freeways down there too! Very creepy. It was very rude of him to expect your parronts to take care of his car problem. I'm just glad he doesn't live there year round.

Are there a lot of theft problems down there? I imagine with all kinds of people coming and going during the summer months there would be a problem. It's mostly cars up here and mail theft too. Most places have locking mailboxes because of that.

Is your mom going to have a big class this year? I think it's just awesome of her to do it! Mom use to speak a lot more Spanish then she does now. Her uncle is from Mexico and she grew up speaking it. She can still understand some of it but she hasn't used it in years. The east side of the state has a lot more Spanish speaking people since a lot of them work on the farms over there.

We are sitting around waiting for dad's new laptop to be delivered. He has that Amazon Prime so he gets free 2 day shipping with any Amazon order. The TV service with Amazon Prime is a big waste since there really isn't anything interesting on it. We have Hulu Plus and Netfix too. Mom and I usually turn on Netflix because they have lots of cartoons on and I like to watch them! I watched all the Tinkerbell movies and I like them very much! I was watching Curious George the other day but mom said it was driving her crazy so we switched to Jake and the Neverland Pirates! Pirates are always good!!

Enjoy the day and I hope it's just perfect!

I hope you are having a great day! We got the car back this morning! YAY! New transmission and an oil change and he is in great shape. Mom is going to have to remember she doesn't have to go really, really slow until he grabs 1st gear now! Felt a bit strange but we are so happy to have it done!
We got the linen closet all cleaned out and made room to store the huge package of paper towels and toilet paper. Mom also got a few cases of bottled water she is keeping in there too. There was an e-coli contamination out on Mercer Island and it closed down all the restaurants for days and everyone had to boil their water. We use a Brita filter but mom doesn't think that it will filter e-coli. She has decided to give me, Mandy and Merlin bottle water to drink just to be safe. They have no idea where the contamination came from and mom doesn't want to take the chance it might happen here. Maybe she is just being too paranoid but she would rather be safe than sorry!

I know it is difficult for you to get things down there from the US! It's just not right but I suppose every country is different when it comes to mail!
I hope the rain has not been too bad. We have hardly had any! Very strange! It's cloudy and misty this morning so it feels more normal. I can not believe that today is the last day of summer! We really did have a nice one and even had to pull the A/C out a couple of times! Everyone seems worried that we are going to be slammed with snow this winter but the Farmers Almanac says it's going to be mild! I vote for mild! Mom's car does not drive well in the snow!
Mom is taking the last week of September off! It's been a year since she took more than a day off so I'm really looking forward to it. She wants to get the bathrooms painted and get the car into the shop to get the transmission fixed. We don't know how long that will take so she has to talk to the mechanics and find out all the particulars!
I hope you all enjoy the day! Leaving a vote and a big hug just for you!
Love you ~ Sugar ♥

  Hi ya Cuz~
I hope you had a wonderful day! I'm doing just fine. It's dark and cloudy on one side of the hose and very sunny on the other side! It looks so cool!
We are still struggling with the computer so it limits our time during mom's workweek! I hope you don't think I haven't been thinking about you, because I have! It can take us an hour just to get 3 notes out and when mom has to work that night, we just run out of time! I don't think it will be too long before dad can get it fixed up.
I am watching the Mikado with the skin sister! It's got lots of music and for some reason it is making me giggle! I don't usually like operas but this one seems to be funny!
I do hope you enjoy your evening!!
Leaving a vote and a big hug!

  Hello my Handsome Cousin~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's very pretty here today and I've been enjoying myself.
Nothing exciting going on unless you find laundry exciting. I don't! I do like climbing into the basket of towels and assisting mom in folding them. I'm actually very good at it! For some reason everyone thinks I should stay away from their clothes! I think they think I am going to chew them up!
We are still having computer problems but it's not the new stuff that got installed the other day. Mom is still trying to figure it all out but so far today we have had to restart 4 times. It is not easy to get notes out when the thing keeps freezing up but I do want you to know that I think about you everyday and I hope to be able to spend more time on notes when the computer is cooperating!
Enjoy the day and I hope it's just perfect!
Leaving a vote and a big hug!
Love you ~ Sugar
