 Vern had at least 3 owners before I adopted him in 1992. He was very sick and nearly died. He loved me even when I gave him shots in his chest. He is a very sweet bird and is probably at least 40 years old. He was named Vern when I got him and seems to be the perfect name for him. We brought him with us when we moved from San Diego to Everett, he did very well for 5 days in the car.. |

Just a little note from Paco saying hi to you. Thanks for your note. So you are spicy, eh? Well, so am I. If I'm on Mom's shoulder for a longer period than what suits me, I let her know with a nip or two. That certainly gets her attention! I don't like to be away from my favorite branch stand or Winnie for too long.
I hope you're staying warm up there. It's pretty cool here in SF, but nothing like what you experience, I imagine. Mom keeps the thermostat set around 70 to keep us warm. Yup, we're spoiled, as it should be! :)
Is your vet named Bridget Ferguson? If so, you are sure lucky. She was one of the best at Bay Area Bird Hospital. She was also actively involved with our local parrot rescue organization, Mickaboo.

Happy National Bird Day!
Just wanted to wish you a HNBD. (It was yesterday, but who's counting?) It's a day where humans should reflect on the joys (and responsibilities) of having a parrot in their lives. Aren't we lucky to have such wonderful forever homes?

Artie here. Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm glad I heard back from you and the flock.
So you know what it's like to be a rescued parrot. Isn't it great to know that we finally have a forever home? I'm sorry you had to have shots. Mom gave me antibiotic shots in the chest years ago. It took 2 people to do it - one to hold, the other to inject. Let's just say that I was not cooperative. I still love Mom despite all the treatments. I have to say that I really prefer my dad. He's my human.
Mom had a 35 year old Blue-Fronted Amazon that she adopted from a shelter. Lora had terrible arthritis. It looks like you're pretty limber, however. You look marvelous!

Baby here the meyers. Nice to meet you. Mom has a bluefront amazon in our flock but he is not as handsome as you are. You are older them him. He is only 30 years old. Mom says she is so glad that you found a loving home and survive being sick. I am impressed that you spent 5 days traveling in a car, me I do not think I could do it and if I did I would be cranky. OUCH!
There was a bit of a cock-fight here last week. Vern climbed onto Mongo's house, which he has done many times before. Well, Mongo bit him on his left foot. He got 3 minor bite wounds on his toes but the most painful was the one on the bottom of his foot. He barely bled and is now healing nicely.Come visit me, Mongo, Vern & Chester.
