I am glad you're human mom will try the birdie bread recipe, it's good stuff! So sorry about Marty, I know alot of parakeets get health problems. It's sad because our humans love us so much. Thanks for stopping by!! Yes I(Zeke) am small!! Mom was shocked when she picked me up yesterday!! She thought I'd be as big as her lovebirds Luna & Kiwi!! NOT!! I'm(Zeke) half their size!! Birdie Bread Recipe!
Oooops!!! I forgot all about you asking about my diet. I eat like my brother Ruby. I eat everything! I was raised on seeds but I converted to a healthy diet right away several years ago when my new Mum told my real Mum about the right way to keep me healthy. I eat broccoli like you do. scrambled eggs! (yum!) any kind of bean (kidney,chic pea,the 12 bean soak bag works)Mum make homemade birdie bread. You can cut this down to suit. She freezes large quanity and around here it last about 3 months. DRY INGREDIENTS: pour in large bowl. 4 boxes jiffy corn bread mix, 1 cup dry boxed skimmed milk, 1/3cup crushed almonds, 2 cups baby rice cereal dry (any brand) if you can find it...1 cup dry baby bird formula (the kind you add water to for syringe feeding) add it dry. mix all your dry ingredians together. In a seperate bowl mix your WET ingredients: 2 ripe bananas smashed, 1/2 jar peanut butter, 6 eggs, small can libby's pumpkin, large can Bruce's sweet pototoes (drain juice) crush. 1/2 cup cooking oil, pour in about 1/2 a small jar honey. Stir till mixed well. Add dry ingredients to wet and mix till like cake batter. Fold in whatever foods are a favorite. Mine like corn. You can add mixed frozen veggies, chopped fruit, berries etc. Grease and flour largest bake pans you have. don't fill more than half full. bake 375 for 45 min. let cool and cut into small squares and freeze. take one out a day and microwave for 30 secs. and break into small bits. Hello Dana and children!
Here's a vote for taking the time to visit me! I love the company! Everyone is impressed with my age. My new Mum took me to the avian vet and He said I was the oldest bundgy he has seen in several years. My exam went very good and He said I was in good shape. My blood work came back today and Mum got a telephone call to say I am in perfect shape. I feel great so the vet said I could live any where between 12 and 15 years in my shape. I am the first bundgy Mum has ever owned. She likes me so much she says she will always have to have one now. I am charming like that!! Do you live with your male bird? I see you have children. Or did he go to the rainbow. My female companion passed four years ago. We never had babies though...she was very bossy!! But I still liked her! I was more adventureous than her and would spend alot of time out of the cage and when I would come "home" she would throw me around till I groomed her and payed attention to her! Maybe all you female bungdies are like that. That's why neither of my Mum's got me a new companion. Have a lovely evening! Birdie snuggles!
