 My mom had just brought home my brother Picasso, a Congo African Grey, and was not going to add to her family any time soon. She was bringing Picasso in for his fist weighing after being brought home and then she saw me! (See when Picasso was a baby at the shop there was a young lady who had just purchased a baby Jardine parrot. My mom had never seen one of those before and she fell in love with their beautiful coloring and their playful attitude.) Mom was perfectly happy with her new addition but she was now just a little intrigued by this new species. Teena, the bird store owner, had just picked up a clutch of baby Brown-Headed Parrots. When my mom came in to have Picasso weighed she spotted me and got all excited thinking I was a baby Jardine. Teena had to break the news to her that I was not a Jardine but that I was in the same category as a Jardine. My species is a member of the Poicephalus family and that means I am similar to a Senegal, Meyers, and Jardine to name a few. Well mom had never heard of a Brown-Headed parrot and she wanted to go online and read all about me. Little did she know that there is not alot of info out there on guys like me. What she did find facinated her and she wanted to see if I would fit in to her new family. She started coming to the store every day and playing with me and my clutch mate but something about me just grabbed onto mom's heart. If you haven't already figured it out, I am missing a toe! When I was breaking out of my shell I guess I had a little trouble getting out and my bird mother tried to help me. She helped me out alright but I lost a toe in the struggle. I can get around just fine without it in fact I hardly even remember that it's missing. So that is how I came to be a part of my mom's family.. |

I see you have been a BC member for a long time, but have not been active in awhile. I hope all is well with you and your family.
We would love to have you join our mixed Poicephalus baseball team. It's easy to play. You and your parront have to chose 15 numbers (no zeros and no number greater than 12). Here is a sample: 2,5,7,9,6; 1,10,8,6,5; 8,4,2,1,12. You send me the numbers and I send them to Norman (43401 -- this is the number that shows in the URL bar when you blog someone). The number are used to determine how a game turns out. Who gets hits, who gets out, and eventually who wins. Norman and his parront do the play by play. Also, one time, once we get the whole team, you need to get your cap (we have to decide on a color first) at www.pikipimp.com. If your parront has trouble with this, my mom can do it. It's nice to hear from another brown headed parrot! We've been trying to find other brown-heads and their owners because I'm my mom's first parrot and I'm very different than the cockatiels shes had before. anyways, it's nice to see that I'm not the only brown headed parrot out there :-)
