Tenzie's is a story about egg-binding. Please always make sure your females have enough calcium (not too much, though) and always pay attention to the signs your birds are giving you! AND TAKE EGG-BINDING SERIOUSLY!_____- _____Tenzie was my first bird. i found her in a pet store 10 years ago and it was love at first sight. she got me through the toughest times of my life, growing up through the teenage years. I missed her like crazy when i went away to college. I finally got her back my Junior year when i moved into an apartment. For some reason, she began laying eggs that year. It started with her getting sick and panting on the floor of her cage. I immediately brought her to the Vet and they said she was eggbound. It cost nearly $2,000 to preform the surgery to save her life, but i would've paid it ten times over despite what everyone kept saying (that's too much money; it's just a bird! she was never "just a bird"...she was my angel-baby!). She survived the surgery, but about a month afterwards she began laying eggs like crazy. She laid and laid and laid them for months until her heart gave out from exhaustion. The night she died i held her in my hands and begged her to stay; i begged, and held her, and helped her breathe when she flagged, and kept her heart beating, for almost 6 hours. The Vet wouldn't see her because they didn't think there was anything they could do! I was so mad at them. I kept her alive thinking if she makes it to morning, she'll be fine. But she turned those trusting eyes to me and i could tell she was saying "momma, it's time". So i said "okay baby..i'll see you in heaven." Moments later she closed her eyes and sighed, and that was it. I'll never forget losing her, and i'll always miss her. She taught me to love birds, and to never give up. She is my guardian angel. She used to make a "phoenix" pose (like in her picture) and i had painted a picture of her 2 weeks before she died for some reason. Now that picture is above my bed reminding me that she's always with me.. |

From Romeo & Juliet Your story of your angel-girl is very touching to us. It made our momma cry becuase before I, Romoeo, came along my momma to had a cockatiel that she adopted from a pet store. Her name was Snowball. For some reason she died suddenly one night when my mom and dad were out carving pumpkins for Halloween. That is why my momma's in-laws my grand parents bought me for an early X-mas present. You are Right Tenzie will be waiting for you up in Heaven.Come visit me, Juliet & Romeo.

Tenzie's Mom ~ I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always a learning experience when you own a bird or any other pet - good & bad. I sympathize with what you went through at the end. I know you will miss her & always will. I'm glad you were able to paint her picture. When you spend money on your "baby" and people tell you that it's only a bird, or only a cat or any other animal......they haven't had the fortunate experience of bonding with an animal. They're the ones missing out! Here's a vote for Angel-Girl ~ Pico, Skittles, & Mom (Cindy)Come visit me, Pico, Bindi - R.I.P. ♥ & Skittles - R.I.P. ♥.

hi there boy your story was so sad, that was awful...mommy used to have a pair of lovies that continously laid fertile eggs. mommy was so worried esp since they were fertile. it made mommy so nervous to pin the eggs that she had to give the pair away to a coworker. it was awful worrying about the egglaying and the baby birds...once after she had pinned the egg, she must not have gone through enough...a baby hatched but didnt live long...she was so upset. so sorry about your loss, here is a vote cuz we really liked your profile. :)Come visit me, vern--good bye, RIP tressa RIP, amos, RIP scarlett, rose, poppy, iris- RIP Chickens, noah, malachi, silas & RIP ike RIP.
