I was wandering through my favorite pet store (NOT bird shopping!), and I saw an empty cage with a sign: "Bronze-winged Pionus, $100 off" -- but no bird! I was amazed, since I had never seen a Pionus for sale locally, and I thought, oh, and of course it's sold! And then a few minutes later as I continued shopping, I saw this Pionus climbing around on some boxes! I said, "Well, there you are!" and she stepped right up on my hand. And the rest, of course, is history..

Active within 953 Days Hi! My name is Eureka I am a Bronze-Winged Pionus from Rock Island, IL. Reka Beaka 11 years old F Bronze-Winged Pionus Anything warm, like freshly cooked veggies. On Mom's head, and hanging upside down from the top of the cage. Being toweled by the vet. It's so rude! She gives me a special kind of goodnight hug that none of the other birds gets. I dance and show off my wings so much in the shower, sometimes I fall off the perch!. No one has prettier wings than I do..

Flying by with another vote for you. Mom gives me a bath in the kitchen sink. Her faucet has two different spray types on it. I like the one that feels like rain. I stretch out my wings as far as they can go and I like to get soaked. Then mom tells me I am such a pretty bird, even though I am a boy bird. ha ha From Mayo

What an honor to have you visit my cage for a chat, your a very striking girl, and you do have beautiful wings..I see your from RI, we have some very dear friends on BC from RI, Christy,Jen and their Dad C. I see you know them also, a very nice family. So what's this special hug you get that the rest of the flock doesn't. Is it something I might like? ok here is my e-mail its zanther67@aol.com,e-mail me and i will send you the links for both breeders:o)gee a kakariki you do know they only live for like 6 years right?as for the superb im waiting to hear agian from my credit card company,if i get him for free my sister wants him,as for the princess well i only picked him up wed night from the airport,he will not step up as of yet but does not run away from me if i put my hand in the cage and he will take food from me,im sure he will warm up he's just unsure of me yet,he does like it when i sing to him well i dont know if it's a him yet i will know next week,i have decided on the name pikachu it's the electric mouse from pokemon,pika means sparkle and chu means mouse noise,so it's another play on words,as these guys can be pretty loud if they want to be LOL!

Hello again little Miss Pionus, did you look on the cover of Bird Talk magazine, it has a pionus that looks very much like you, I think it's called a Maximillian's, but it don't have any of that bronze like you! Thanks for coming by for a visit, you and your whole flock are always welcome. Dad is also looking forward to the bird fair this weekend, but says we are not for show, we are for love, and he will not take a chance on risking an injury or exposing us to a disease, but said it a different story when it's just around the people and birdys of our club. Say hi to all your flock mates, and especially our buddy Pascal, we'll see ya again soon...

the breeder of kings did not have any this year:o(i did purchase a handfed superb parakeet same family as the princess,he was shipped from a pet store in florida,but he is scared and very flighty,so when i got back to the person i purchased him from he was very nasty and did not want to work this out,so i called my credit card company and they are going to dispute the charge so we shall see what happens,i did just put down a deposit on a handfed lutino princess of wales,i do know they have another and i also know of a breeder that has some normal color,so if you want the info let me know i will give you my e-mail address.

gesh im just having no luck!
the other pet store still has no birdies on eggs:o( well i found a small scale breeder in florida that has two 4-month old male barabands or also known as superb parrots,their a little heavier in body but basically the same size as the princess parrots,so im sending him a payment this week and i should have my baby next week,he cant ship this week because of the storms.

Hi Eureka, Yep, we need lots of attention even though there's two of us. We are very sociable. Anyone who comes knocking at our door must be coming to visit us and must want us to sit on their fingers and shoulders. Mom says some humans are scared of us, but we don't believe that for a second. Tell your mom us caiques are so much fun but we need a lot of attention. Our mom used to have a pionus once -- a blue-headed pionus. He was sickly when she adopted him and passed away after five months with her, but he was the gentlest bird ever. You guys are sweeties. Woof & Meow

Thanks for visiting my page! It's nice to see another bronze wing around--not too many of us! My mom is going to post new pictures soon. You sure are pretty! Am I seeing in your picture right that you have white speckles in your head? Do all bronze wings get that? I'm only 14 weeks old, so I don't know all this stuff yet. gee its faux agian we have bad luck:
ok so the breeder called and the amboina king is out 1 baby died and the other is sick,so i got my money re-funded from the pet store,but i did find a bird store called uptown birds in manhattan ny,they breed the australian kings thats the real big ones 17inches/230grams and they also have the princess of wales in normal,blue and lutino mutations,they say theirs are working the nest boxes now so to call next month,so i will have to wait longer but we dont mind its better then getting a species we really didnt want,as of course the owner kept trying to push a few others,well we will keep you updated on as the baby birdie hunt continues:o)

well we could not get the princess of wales parrot,he died before we could take him home,they could not find any more princess parrots im just not having any luck,but he did find one of his breeders had two amboina king parrot youngsters,so he said they should be in by thursday,so i may be getting a king parrot instead,and if theres a problem then im just going to pick out a ringneck parakeet they have plenty of those.

Good morning Reka Beaka, we're getting a late start this morning, dad slept in, he went to a wedding rehearsal dinner on a river boat and he was very tired, he said he had a good time, but it doesn't sound like any fun to me! We are doing our wing thing around the BC neighborhood to vote for you, your fiblings, and the rest of the nice parrots we've met on BC. Christy and I agree that you do have the prettiest wings around, except for maybe an Angel, but we can't be sure about that, because we haven't seen one of those yet! hi the infamous faux bird here:
we were looking for a rock pebbler and just could not find any,any of the breeder's that wrote us back(some did not)were sold out,a few said the birds did not produce this year,the large australian parakeets normally breed early,so i don't think brightwood will have any this year,so mom and i came across a 5 month old princess of wales parakeet he is supposed to be a boy,he sounds kinda like a loud cockatiel so he is a little louder then we would have liked,they are very pretty birds to oh well maybe next time around,but glad to hear you found another baby for the moment LOL!:o)

Hello Eureka, our flock has talked it over and we have decided that your name should be changed from Eureka, to Unique-a, because of your most unusual but very beautiful feather coloration! We know that the Pionus species is not commonly found in our area, which only adds to your appeal and ability to stand out in a crowd even more, hey, with your Bronze Wings and my Orange Wings, we could really kick some tail feathers in Rock Island. Hello Eureka!! That is wonderful that you two share a cage. Pebbles and I like each other a lot but mom wouldn't trust me to share a cage all the time. Sometimes I try to nip at Pebbles but I have'nt ever really hurt her. Starr the new puppy is still peeing in her crate but it's not all her fault mom doesn't get home til late because she has to go by the hospital to see grandpa so it's gonna take a little longer. None of us are poop trained birdies. We poop all over our cages. We have our wings clipped and mom puts carpet runners on the floor were we hang our butts over. Have a great nite. Hugs, Charlie
