 I heard that my dad and his girlfriend had taken in a bird from one of their friends. I asked them what kind of bird and they told me it was a female white dove. So I went over to take a look at her and doticed that she had a fanned tail. So i looked up information about them and found out that she was a Fancy Fantailed white Pidgeon. So I asked about her background and why the previous owners didn't want her any more, and they told me that she had originally been in a small aviery of parakeets and a male Fantail pidgeon, but some how they got out and got attacked by cats, and she was one of two that survived. Sadly the male pidgeon wasn't one of them.
Upon seeing her, I fell in love. I had just kind of gotten over the death of my longtime best friend, Jossey who was a female Pied Cockatiel, and was look for another bird that wasn't a hookbill. So I spent some time with her, going over to my dads house every weekend and talking or holding her, and I noticed that she wasn't getting the proper attention she needed. I was the only on changing her food and water and her cage was filthy. One evening I went over and found out that there dog (shepard/lab/hu- skey mix) had attacked her. I was so mad, I checked her over but didn't find any cuts or anything. She was just scarred and missing a few feathers here and there. It came to a point where I told them they don't have enough time to take care of a bird. I explained the ammount of attention you should give them and such things.
Then, when I went to visit her one time, I saw white feathers littering their yard. So I ran in the house and asked what happened. The dog had gotten her again, but this time took her outside and tired to play with her in the stream by their house. I went to check her over and she was soked and muddy and missing more feathers. She was traumitised. I took her the next day.. |

Hi allison. Sorry it has taken so long to reply. You and your friends are very pretty and we are glad you were saved. We do look a bit like hazel and passion. We are sisters which is why we are so tightly bonded. Mummy wouldn't dream of splitting us up and pairing us off. We were her first handraised birds. We are the odd birds out sharing the attention with 9 tiels but we enjoy their company and are the gentlest birds mummy has ever kept. Hope we can be friends.

Thanks for flying by, it's nice to meet you. I love your gorgeous white feathers, so beautiful and unusual. Your mommy must extra good care of you! The flock look very cute and friendly too. I live with mom & dad and my girlfriend Stampee. Luckily I don't have any scary cats living here. I also lived in a home where my people didn't have enough time for me and there was a big scary dog. Sometimes now at night I make barking sounds when I remember it.
