Hi Dominick
It takes a lot of indoor training and some transition training to get a bird into condition for free flight. Normally 3-4 weeks of consistant work and I suggest working with a person who has free flying birds. Skeeter just had his 3rd anniversary of outdoor free flight. Hi Dominick
Sorry I have taken so long to write but Mom has been away a whole week visiting with her Mom. I missed her so much I just picked at my food and sort of moped around. Dad did his best but, well, he just isn’t Mom. She phoned everyday to talk to me and Dad. So I am just checking up on all my friends’ news. You are so young and have so much fun ahead of you. Are you flighted? As your Mom is new at this she only has to ask if she has any questions or concerns. My Mom would be happy to help and I know there are loads of other Moms and Dads here that would also be ready to help. My hatch day was last Wed so I am 4 years old now. I got two toys, well one toy and one cage accessory. The toy is a play gym/swing thing. It is made of wood and rope. There are two ladders, one at each end and they are connected by a couple of horizontal wood perches. Each ladder has a clip to hang it from the inside top of my cage. The other is a tent perch, which is just as it says, a perch that has a fabric tent over it. Mom has them hung up near my cage so I can check them out and I have already decided that they won’t eat me. Hehehe. She will get some pics posted soon. For a hatch day treat Mom made me some oat bananut balls. At least that is what she calls them. They are old fashion oats mixed with banana and peanut butter (the no sugar, no salt added kind) made into little balls and then baked. They are just so yummy. I also got some corn on the cob and sweet potato mash for my hatch day dinner. All my favorites! That was all the good stuff but it was soon back to the life as usual. Today Mom sprayed me to give me a bath and if that was not enough, she cut my toe nails. Wrapped me in that darn towel and trimmed my nails while Dad held me. Boy, I didn’t half give that towel a beaking. Well if this is what it is like to be 4 I will go back to being 3! . Hehehe . Have a great weekend. Hi from Buddy and Lil Bird
Buddy is a Grey and Lil Bird is A Green Cheeked Conure. We have been living here about 6 months and we are settled in. Our Mom loves BC because it helps her learn more about us..she tries to keep us happy and well fed. Buddy loves to talk and make all sorts of noises and Lil Bird likes to sit on your head and pick your eye lashes..he is saying step up and tries to say other words.
