 News - I got a new home... well not realy. It's a new big cage like Pepper's but the top is like my old one. I can move around more in it and Mom put extra perches so I won't fall. I love it. Mom moved some other furniture to make room for it beside Pepper's cage, where I was before so it was not too much of a change for me.
The postman asked me to take care of his 2 birds over the long weekend at the beginning of September. When he and his wife came back to pick up the birds Monday evening, he saw how well TiPaul was getting along and decided he would do better with us. He is a great bird, but we are still getting to know each other. ***UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 6th *** Just over 2 weeks ago, TiPaul decided to jump off his cage again, but this time he was not so lucky. Having less feathers than the average CAG since he breaks them off, and having virtually no tail, his balance is way off. His chest area opened, where he had fallen in the past while with his second owner, who let him heal naturally. I took him to the vet, where he had to be put under and stitched up properly. He was also put on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Well, within of a few days, I thought I had a new bird in the home. He started talking, his firts words being *hello, I love you*, he started clicking like my other CAGs, and he started playing, shredding a cardboard box, and just being a fantastic bird. He has never bitten my partner nor me, and he plays well with Pepper, my other male CAG. Yesterday was 2 weeks from his surgery and we went back to the vet. He is doing great - he has healed perfectly - the stitches will fall out on their own. It seems he did this once before with the first owner too, but was hospitalized and taken care of. You cannot begin to realize how happy I am that he found us and his permanent home.. |

DAY 21 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 2
While we were heading to Lebanon the food service on the plane sucked because they were all packaged food. Plus they only gave us so little food so i was still hungry. It was hard for me to sleep on the plane because the seats were uncomfortable. The only good thing about the planes is that they had tv for me to watch. I took aircanada to get to london. When we arrived in london, we had to wait 3 hours for our next flight. After that we went into the customs then boarded the plane called bmi. When we arrived in Lebanon we went to get our luggage. When we got our luggage i noticed that one of our luggages was missing. We told one of the people that one of our luggages was missing so they wrote down our personal information. They told us that they would call us if they found the luggage. So as we were going outside, we met up with my cousins and my aunts. We were really happy to see them and it was an emotional moment because we haven't seen them in a long time. So we rode the queen taxi and headed to our apartment. While we were in the taxi the airport called my aunt and told her that they found our luggage. We headed back to the airport to get the luggage then went to the apartment. It's almost bedtime and I'm just getting on to finish up my notes! We didn't really do a whole lot today. Lots of cleaning in the kitchen mostly. It's amazing how fast it gets messed up in there!
Mom went over to the library today. She had 3 books on hold and needed to pick them up. She got me some new story books to read too! I can't wait to read them!!
I'm off to the night cage so I will say goodnight!

DAY 20 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 1
Last year, in February 2012, my parents were discussing about my dad’s sister and his mom going to Lebanon to pay their sister insurance. My dad paid 1000$ every month to his sisters because his oldest sister had two grown children and their parents were divorced. In addition, the other sister who lived with them worked as a teacher and tried paying for the family. When I heard about it, I soon said I wanted to go to Lebanon too, to see my aunts, my cousin and family. My parents thought about it then, they decided that it would be my birthday present to go to Lebanon. I was glad but unfortunately I had to wait until end of March. I was usually impatient so I tried getting it out of my mind for a while. Then it was finally the day where me, my grandma and my aunt were heading to Lebanon. We sat at the airport where my dad worked, and went to a restaurant to have breakfast. Then it was time to say our goodbyes, I was leaving for two weeks and I was already crying, missing my parents. It was the first time I was gone that long from my parents and first time I was going on vacation during the school days. Furthermore, we boarded the plane and took off to head to Lebanon, Beirut. Oh no an earthquake! They are NOT fun at all. I'm so glad that everyone is ok. My mom was in California many years ago during a quake (in the land of quakes) and she fell to the ground .. it made her very dizzy. Our bad severe t-storm on Monday was bad enough for me.
Today’s t-storm was very short. But, it rained all day. The next 4 days will be sunny and 56 to 62 degrees. Every bird that is enjoying warm temps, please enjoy it for me. I’m just thankful that we don’t have the destruction like Ok has.

I missed everybirdy yesterday.
Sorry I wasn’t on the BC on Monday. We had a very severe t-storm that lasted several hours. It cause some flooding, trees down, wires down, and no power in most of our county. Everything was back up and running this morning.
I was very, very scared and snuggled with mom the whole time, not making a sound. I don’t like rain and this was very bad. As soon as we could, we turned on CNN and saw the terrible destruction in Oklahoma. Keeping all those people in our prayers, so sad.

DAY 19 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 11
I discovered birdchannel from a friend at my school. I registered in September 2011 after I got Angel and Luigi. The only friend on birdchannel that I talked to was SKY. Everyday there would be new activities on birdchannel he would tell me. But I really didn’t know how to go to a milonga or the kissing booth. So that’s how I didn’t know how to meet other birdies. I met Sky when he first came on BC with the broken wings broken promises page. Angel’s page was changed to birdie zone and Luigi became DJ LUIGI. To be honest, Luigi leans more to singing with me and listening to sounds than learning other tricks. Luigi started making more birdie friends when Luigi started running for 500 votes to participate for bird of the month. The rain stopped just in time for mom to go rescue dad when the battery on his car died ! Then when they came home I snuggled with mom as she watched the news. This was the best day ever so far this year! It was sunny and warm. We had lunch and dinner out on the patio. I'm pretty tired but had a good time. The next two days will bring severe t-storms and then the temps will go down to 62 degrees. I guess that was it for summer ... hope not.

My dear - I wasn't sure I'd get around to visit my friends today. The baby great-nephew was here by 6:30 this morning and just went home . . .and the plans for taking him to the farm ? Well, it rained all day here ! I discovered one more thing - I'm way less work too ! Mom had to crawl all over the house after him. He's pretty funny though - he knows he's not allowed to touch daddy's electronics, so what did he do all day ? Crawled over there while telling himself "no, no, no," the whole way ! DAY 18 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA'S LIFE part 10
When I brought Angel and Luigi home, I wasn't allowed to take them out of my cage. In the next few days I started to bring them out myself. It was fun hanging out with them because I taught them the bobbing head signal. Basically I bob my head in front of the cage and if they bob their heads, that means they want to come out. Also when Angel and Luigi were sitting on top of their cage, they would fly from their cage to all the way to the end of the room and turn and fly back to the cage. It was a lot of fun and I would start running and joining them too. Then Angel wanted to start breeding so I studied about breeding lovebirds and got the breeding box, the lovebird baby food formula and syringes. Angel and luigi tried breeding 5 times, the first 3, they laid eggs and then broke them and one of the eggs didn't hatch. Then I was learning on the way about staying away from the box and checking once a week. The next two times I did stay away from the box, and one bird hatched out. Unfortunatly Angel didn't take care of it properly and it died. Then the next time, 2 birds hatched out and both died since Angel didn't take care of them properly again. I realized that Angel wanted to keep breeding but I couldnt provide the box anymore because I had other things to do too. So I decided to sell Angel to someone who has another boy lovebird so Angel would continue to breed. I found a woman who owned a lovebird that was plucking his feathers. Before, she had the boy and the girl lovebird that were coupled. She and her husband got them from an auction. The wifebird had fractures and damaged body. I knew that the original owner didn't have patience with the female as they do bite to defend their territory. So after she got them, the wifebird died shortly leaving the husbird alone plucking. I was glad to give Angel to a good home where she would make the husbird happy and she would be living in with another couple, Bonny and Clyde. I was happy that Angel was with Sunny. It's getting closer! Soon, you will be at the 5K.
Today was the Preakness Stakes. The winner was OXBOW. The KY Derby winner, ORB came in 4th. So, no Triple Crown again this year.
We had a rainy chilly day again. Sunday is suppose to be 80 and sunny. I hope so! Then two days of severe t-storms, then just rain and back down to 62 degrees. HEY! Where is our good weather? I’m still waiting!

DAY 17 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA'S LIFE part 9
After leaving Montreal to go home, I started researching on the Internet about lovebirds. When I was done, I decided to buy a lovebird. My dad told me I could buy one from kijiji. So the type of lovebird I chose was fischers lovebird. I looked all over kijiji but none of them lived closer to my area. So I decided to pick another type of lovebirds. The next one I chose was the peach-faced lovebird then I did research. I went one kijiji and found a bird breeder who was breeding lovebirds and budgies. She had 2 lovebirds that we're coupled, the green one was 5 months and the yellow one was 4 months. I somehow got dad to get me two birds instead of one. So we contacted the lady and went to her house. It was long trip to me to get to neapean. When we got there, the house had noisy chirping birds. The lady was handfeeding a lovebird! It was so cute and adorable. She showed me around then she showed me the two lovebirds. I brought the cage with me to the two birds inside. The lady asked "What are you going to name your new birds?" Since the green one was a boy and he reminded me of super Mario, I named him Luigi. The yellow one who was a girl, I named her Angel, because she was yellow with white flight and rump feathers so it reminded me of the sun. Hello TiPaul~
I hope you are having a wonderful day. I've got the gardeners here to watch. They are outside my window mowing the lawns! Pretty soon Mandy will be woofing to go out just because she likes to smell the fresh cut grass! Mom takes her for a walk everyday and Mandy has decided she likes to walk down to the Starbucks. Do you suppose it's the scones they sell? I always share my scones with her so maybe she figured she just go down there and get us some! I like the way she thinks!!
Mom already went to the market before I even got up! The store is open 24 hours a day. It's less crowded early in the mornings but mom has to put up with freight on the floor and the floor scrubber being used. Since she works nights at a store, she is use to that stuff.
She got me some pecans so I'm looking forward to my snack! I'll be having apples and pecans today! Yum!
I'll be supervising the chores later on and letting mom know how she should do stuff! We all know our parronts would be lost without us!!

DAY 16 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 8
Before I ever got Luigi and Angel as my pets, I used to beg every single day for a pet. Ever since I was 4, I would wine and cry for a pet. The answer I got was a no, as always. Growing up, whenever I found out one of my classmates has a pet, I would go to my parents and use it as an excuse to get a pet. Then when I was around 13, I got very jealous when I found out my uncle got a hamster for his son and daughter and my neighbor friend got a canary. Well that made my beg and cry like crazy. So after begging for 9 years, my mom got fed up of me never giving up on this topic. So she discussed with dad and she asked me, what pet do you want? Well my options were short; I wasn’t allowed to get a dog, for obvious reasons in my religion. A cat will make my parents sneeze. A reptile was out of the question, and then I remembered how I loved playing with my grandma’s budgie. I decided I wanted to get a bird. Ok, the type of pet was decided, now the type of species was the argument. I told my parents I wanted a how bird that can talk and I could cuddle with. I asked to get a big bird, then no was the answer. First of all, theres no room in my house, second, I can’t put the bird outside since it’s freezing in Canada. So my parents told me you can get a big bird in Lebanon where it’s nice and warm. Ok, so the bird was going to be smaller, but I didn’t care because I wanted a pet really badly because I wanted to hold it and play with it. So when we went to montreal one time, there was a pet store in one of the big shopping malls. I went to see it and there was a whole bunch of small and medium birds. I saw canaries up high up on the cages. And fischers lovebird, cockatiels, it was a wonderland. At first I wanted the cockatiels, but mom thought they were noisy since they were screaming when I approached them. Then I saw the doves and I thought they were lovebirds. I told my mom I wanted the doves, she said no because they are harder to take care of. My mom pointed to the real lovebirds, they were so small, but then I thought about it. Traffic was backed up for miles, the police were going car to car. When they got to my car I asked the officer what was going on.
He said "It's Al Gore. He's up there threatening to set himself on fire! We are going car to car collecting donations."
"Donations!" I said, "How much you got so far?"
He said "about ten gallons."

DAY 15 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
When I was young, I used to visit my grandma every Friday. I would love visiting her and seeing my uncles. Usually during my visits, I used to play on the playstation 2 with my brother and my youngest uncle. In addition, I always played with my grandma’s budgie, it was american parakeet and it was blue. Since the bird didn’t have name, the only name I called it was the bird or birdie. I played with birdie every time we visited. Birdie wasn’t tame so I had many incidences were I would take out the birdie and it would start flying every where. Everyone laughed, and my dad usually had to catch the bird. But I found that birdie liked to play on my shoulder, so I had birdie on there. I used to think birdie was a boy, but it was actually a girl. My grandma liked it when I fooled around trying to get to play with birdie. She was happy that I was getting to know birdie. She loved the sound that birdie made everyday. Then my uncle to decided to place the cage on higher grounds since I always took birdie out and she would fly every where. Unfortunately, when I was 9, I came to visit my grandma and the cage wasn’t there, I asked “Where’s the bird?”. She told me, she saw birdie lie on the bottom of the cage, her time was up. My grandma was sad of her loss, it was hard for her. She missed the beautiful chirps in the morning, she really loved that bird. Birdie lived for more than 12 years. She was old and it surprised me about how active she was when I took her out. I was saddened too that birdie was gone.
