I'm here too!! Finally. Oh man, writing time for this little Grey girl has been almost none-existant. I was thinking once baseball season got underway I'd surely have more chances to chit-chat with friends. But noooo, I swear it's only gotten worse. I always forget that with baseball season comes yard work for mom so instead of lounging in the office chair, a happy parrot or two perched on her shoulder while she taps out messages for us to our friends, she's out wresting with weeds, wackin' grass with the spinner thingy and using fowl language with the push mower that used to start easy but now refuses to start at all. I say let the grass and weeds grow tall and wild to create a barrier, a wall of privacy and protection so I can write to my friend Sage in PRIVATE.
As for buying you popcorn, I'd be more than happy too. I'll be sure and bring my allowance along each time in the hopes of our being at a game together. I think you were at the Quaker game but it was about hopeless for me to get a word in what with Alfie doing the announcing and RaneBeau doing his thing (or not) in the dugout. Crazy times, those are.
As for making you proud with my duties as a parrot, oh girlfriend, you can go ahead and beam because I am SO being a pill. I actually got picked up like a foot ball yesterday when mom's hand reached into the back of the closet and just grabbed me. You can bet I came out of there growling like a steel cage wrestler. But I was a good girl and didn't pinch or bite. I went with the flow, got stuck on a perch (which was probably funny to watch seeing as my feet were sticking out and mom just planted them on the stick) and started right in on my next flight plan into the closet. Don't be shocked when I write from the "hanger" where I've been permanently parked because my wings have been removed at the NECK. he he hee

Hello Miss Sage!
I understand you've signed up to play for the Phoenix Base Fliers! Sweet! That means I'll be seeing you at the ballpark on occasion. And if the two of us don't have a game, we could sit in the bleachers and eat popcorn and whistle at the guy-birds selling snacks. What do you say?
How's things in FL? It's wet here in Illinois. Has been for several days now. I was on a roll with 80 degree stuff but then Wham-O, 38 again. So much for the tan lines I was starting to get. Not much new here. I've managed to remained a flighted wonder all season despite the number of times I keep flying to forbidden places. My penchant for those blasted kitchen counters remains ever strong and irresistible. Mom says it's going to be the death of me... or somebody else. The other day I dropped a paring knife over the edge of the counter. Had there been a dog down below it may well have been stabbed! You may ask how a bird got ahold of a knife in the first place. I'm just that quick, Sweetie. Just that quick. I'm supposed to play happily on the center table, the one pretty much reserved for me. My favorite hidey-hole box is set there along with a basket of kitchen utensils I can play with; mixing cups, a whisk, a wooden spoon, straws, etc. But what do I want? The ones on the counter of course. So being the tenacious Grey that I am (mom calls that being a pill), I quick fly over to the counter, grab something and toss it. It's a quick ticket back to my room where I commence pouting. And what am I pouting about? That I didn't manage to drop TWO knives over the edge before getting busted. he hee

I love that thing. The ends of the paper sticks are quite mangled but not entirely destroyed as of yet. I knocked the whole thing down the other day when I was climbing to the top of the rope it was hanging from. Mom come flying in to see what the racket was. Hey, when angels fall, they tend to make a lot of noise. I know all the birdies who live in cold climates have been suffering from winter's cold blasts, so here is your opportunity to turn your back on the bad weather and enjoy winter in comfort and luxury. With the warm snow once again provided by our very own magical Lizzie, we will enjoy all the fun of winter games and none of the chills.
First of all there will be a display of amazing snow sculptures that range from beautiful to comical and will thrill your senses. Then once a nice crowd has arrived, there will be our fantastic parade that is not to be missed. The Rose Parade doesn't hold a feather to our extravaganza.
The next event is one I know you have all been looking forward to: the big snowball fight between the boy and girl birdies. Snow forts have been put up for defense maneuvers, so it should be pretty darned eggciting.
Then the event you all have been waiting for; we will present the awards for the Winter Avatar Contest. There are several birdies who are running beak and beak, so you won't want to miss the final outcome. And when the categories are taken into consideration, why anybirdy could win!!
Of course, while you are enjoying the awards ceremony the buffet prepared by Lizzie will be open and serving. Can't have hungry birds at a milonga! And I do believe I heard something whispered about Homemade Ice Cream! I can't wait to see what flavors there will be.
And last but certainly not least the evening will be capped by the tunes of Sam and the Scruffy Birds Band for your listening and dancing pleasure. If you are not filled with winter cheer by the end of this evening, why you just aren't a bird!

My Dearest Sage buddy-from Jenny Lynn
Snage dear, yesterday we were having what was the start of another fabulous visit from aunt Denise and Alfie, when she excused herself and went out in her truck and brought in a huge Christmas box full of bird photo ornaments from 18 wonderful BC families, representing 30 plus birds! It was a secret collaboration put together by aunts Robin, Cindy, and of course aunt Denise, to cheer my daddy up this year, due to the painful loss of his Christy, she was our Christmas advocate, and just loved all the bright and shiny things! Dad has went out in the garage closet twice to get our tree out, but he just couldn't bring it in our house! However, one thing is for certain, all these great BC friends have given my dad something to look forward to next year, when maybe the harsh pain will have subsided somewhat! Dad has taken many photos of the ornaments, and today will be working on an e-mail to thank all the secret collaborators, but he is struggling hard to find the right words! For now, on behalf of my daddy and Angel Christine and the Dallas flock, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the great effort and kindness put forth, and extended to our daddy, we shall never forget it! You've always had such a way with words, and it's not changed a bit. How I would've loved to share some pasta and apple and turkey to with my best friend (that would be you!). I got my holiday meal the day after the fact. I believe they call them "leftovers" at that point. What an insult! But it was good none the less.
Thinking of you and picturing your smiling face, a face that's happy because she knows she's loved by this little Grey girl.

Hope you and your flock are nice and warm in FL. It is not to bad here, in the 60's. Mom is trying to decide when all the Christmas decorations are going up. It would be nice to put the outside stuff up while it is kind of warm. Sorry to hear about Sprout. We will keep your flock in our prayers. The news is mom is officially retired so we will be seeing a lot more of her. Looks like most of the US needs rain. ... back to you from my mom! And look at her now, she's all star-struck having kissed the beak of the famous Paloma~Snage.
So what's new, Girlfriend? Life's been good since mom got back from Colorado. Normally I'm not the least bit concerned about when she gets back- I'm usually WITH her! This time though I got left behind. Boy, talk about bummed. I couldn't believe my beak was among the ones getting good-bye kisses. I was like, 'Surely you've made an error. You didn't mean to kiss me good-bye, did you? NO WAY!' .... and then she was gone. I swear I heard Saber snicker but I was too shocked to go over there and slap his smarmy beak. Yes, I have my temper tantrum-like moments. I shouldn't but there's moments you just can't help it. Ever had any? Nah, not sweet little Paloma Snage! I'm sure if something's bothering you, you just sing and make it all seem better.

My Dearest Sage
How are things with you? I understand your darling Mom has been away from work this past week. I fear though that her time was not spent napping with my beautiful friend tucked under her chin. No, you likely haven't seen much of your mom what with your Grandma needing all sorts of extra TLC. Have you picked up on any hint of how she's doing today? I know her surgery went well but then some complication came up with her leg. Oh dear. It would've been nice not to have something extra to deal with. My prayers are that everything turns out okay and your family is soon back to enjoy what we call the mundane routine. "Mundane" means everything's okay...

Oh SAAAA-AGE!
Whoo-woooo!
What's been happening in your stretch of the world? How was Mother's Day? All snuggly and lovey-dovey? I bet you willingly offered kiss after kiss and suggested a nap together on the couch. I know how much you enjoy those snuggle sessions. My last snuggle season took place right here on the desk, but you wouldn't believe what I had to go through to get that session to take place. I'd been set on my playstand here on the loft and left to entertain myself. For me that's a little self-administered pedicure or a rearranging of the feather-do. When I noticed that mom was deep into whatever computer project she was working on, I stealthily slipped down the playstand post and quickly ducked under the desk. The next thing mom knew, there was a Grey bird hiking up her pant leg. When I got to the top, I pulled myself up on the desk, parked my carcass in between her arms and laid my head on her hand. I'm so proud of her; she got the message. PET ME. Which she did. And for a gloriously long while too. I guess she was touched by the effort I put into the plan. The white dust left on the desk was proof just how long I got a neck-scritching. (It had nothing to do with how much I need a good drenching shower. Nothing at ALL.)

My Beautiful Friend,
Thank you ever so much for your gentle words of compassion concerning our flock's lose. Mo was quite the character, a real trooper, a shining example of the words 'tenacious' and 'determined'. I was always tempted to feel sorry for him over how hard it was for him to get around but he didn't want any of that pity stuff. He just wanted you to get out of the way if you happened to step in between him and Alfie. Heaven forbid the rest of us cause him to have to take the long way around to his buddy's side. I can tell you why my mom didn't think to tell your mom about Mo; she was so enjoying hearing about your flock and the funny things those Quakers brothers of yours do. I'll have you know that your name came up as well. Trust me, you got rave reviews. But then, you already knew you would, didn't you. Of course! You're Miss Paloma Snage! What other kind of reviews for you are there but RAVING ones ? None.
Congrats are in order for your flock and it's new member. That Dillion is a looker, is he not? I'm sure you've meet him. What do you think?
I think you're the best and I'm so glad I get to call you 'friend'. Thanks for being here for me.

We have arrived at Sunday, a day of rest, the Sabbath Day, a day of worship, on this beautiful Winter's day in February! I say Winter, because it is only conspicuous by it's absence this year, at least in my home town! Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to miss the Milonga and auction last night, but from what I'm hearing, it was a lot of fun, I hope all my BC friends had a wonderful time there!
