 I wrote to a breeder asking to be contacted if she ever had a disabled baby bird, since she has several species of birds I had experience with and I felt I would be able to take care of a handicapped parrot. I actually was thinking of a smaller bird than a grey, but it was a hypocalcemic baby grey she contacted me about. Sylvain has a twisted spine and neck, his balance is a bit off and he falls easily but otherwise he is a healthy and happy grey who is a very dear bird to me.. |

Hi! My name is Sylvain
I am a Congo African Grey from Seattle, WA.
 Silver Bird, Grey Grey, Snakeyneck Hookybeak

Fruit juice from a shot glass, nuts, anything I'm having for dinner.
 On his cage and in his cage. Since he's handicapped and has poor balance, playgyms and perching on my hand or shoulder is really too scary for him to do much.
 Nigel on his cage again, moving boxes or furniture past his cage (scary!), falling to the ground and Jean trying to step me up (I want to get back on my cage MYSELF, by climbing my ladder, EXCUSE ME!)
 When she goes 'blub blub blub blub' with her finger over her lips and I do it back to her...that's my favorite!!!!
 What a funny bird...Sylvain likes to say 'Water' over and over, and then when I try to change his water he usually grabs the dish and won't let me have it. He likes to sing by going 'la la la la la' and interspersing whistles from songs he knows, He loves to scream and flap on top of his cage and hang upside down battling his skadaddle toy..
 Even if you can't tuck your head, you can be a self-sufficient GREY BIRD..

Hi Sylvain!
Welcome to the Bird Channel! How are you? Thank you for coming by to visit me. My moms have been busy all week cleaning up all the leaves in our yard. This is the time of year when mom wishes she didn't have quite so many trees. I wonder why they spend so much time cleaning up all those pretty leaves. Looks like a whole lot of work to me. Well, we finally had our first frost here a couple of days so you know it's gotten really cold here. Mom says she can't wait for spring already. I hope you can come by and visit me.
