Hi, Moustache! I'm a 7-year-old female moustached parakeet named Kelly. My DNA test has been invalidated! It said that I was a boy. Last fall, I surprised my mom and dad by depositing three eggs. Now, I've left two eggs, so far, in my mom's lap. She says she can't "house" two unfertilized eggs 24-7 for three weeks, soooo, she's looking for a male to keep my company (and, occupied!). Please let me know if you know of anyone who has a male who needs a home. Our home is great! We (Buddy, budgie) get to fly around the house when Mom and Dad are home. The rest of the time, we're in the bird room and only go into our cages ("bedrooms") at night. Please keep in touch. Here's a vote. Hello from the Oklahoma Gang TOP O' THE DAY, Patrick here, Oh my, lil gkid had Slate and Mica playing house yesterday. They were so embarassed. She can't keep up with them so Mom put them in a basket on her lap. They looked like a little doubled headed "Jack in a Box". Yep, they have new pics.. hehe .....Well they are busy today chewing off votes for you and your flock.... gkid is carrying the basket as asking Mom to get them out again. Mom told her no. Whew. DNA By the way, I have to tell you an interesting story. My mom started taking me to a vet specialist, an avian vet. They took my blood and sent it to a lab for a DNA test. It came back saying that I was a boy. I could have told them that it was misdiagnosed. I'M A GIRL! My mom and dad waited and waited and waited. But, my beak never turned orange. Then, one day, my mom found an egg in the box where I like to hide near the entertainment center (I'm always out and about when they're home). They were in shock! The next day, I left eggie number 2. The next day, eggie number 3. For the next 25 days, mom had to stay home with me, because my chosen nest box was in the family room, NOT in my bird room. She tried moving the box into the bird room, but I wouldn't have anything to do with that! So much for DNA testing. She thought about sending the vet a later to get her money back. Hi, Moustache! I was away from this site for a while. My Grandpa passed away and we were on the other coast of Florida for a while. You are a handsome guy! I've been playing around with fake birdies, because it's almost time for me to deposit more eggs. My first time was last fall. I had three ... but, of course, since I don't have a "significant other", they weren't fertilized. My mom pulled them out after 25 days. She said she's going to get some fake eggs. It's very windy today. The temp will only get to around 65, which is quite cool for this part of Florida. I'm glad I'm not outside! The quakers aren't out. Noël with the family! Hello everyone, new news, I'm now visiting my aunty for X-Mas, she came and took me and Juliette, my four legged furry friend, to her place (2 hour drive). Mommy made sure to prepare everything we needed for the trip and for once we arrived! Aunty has very little experience with birds, but so far, she is doing a great job! Feeding me a lot of different food! I tasted cooked Asparagus, it's great!!! Mommy told her what not to give me to ensure I don't get poisoned :). I like my country house (smaller cage than at home) but I climb everywhere in it and I do the clown! Well, Happy Xmas and New Year to all my birdy friends! Ahhhh Xmas Wrapping!!! FUN Hello my friends, mom decided to wrap the gift that Santa sent to us to give to our relatives. Mom had 2 huge roll of xmas wrapping paper. The colours were awesome... I was so interested that I decided to try to fly to mom and to help mom wrap some gift... But I couldn't resist and I chew some!!! Mommy put me back on my play pen... Nice try mommy! Snow Day - Mom stayed home Hello all, mommy decided to not got to work today -yay for me and Juliette, my dog friend. There is falling a lot of that white stuff that mom's calls snow. It is pretty, I'm very curious about it, but mom says it's too dangerous for me to go outside during winter. Last weekend, mom installed the Xmas decorations, it's nice to look at all those colours!!! I mommy has all the ingredients she will bake gingerbread cookies today... I'm a Male!!!!!!!!! Hello dear friends! The Vet called mommy yesterday to let us know that all my final test results were back and she got also the DNA results. I'm very healthy and I'm a male! Mommy told me that she would take picture of me at least once a month and add them to the blog, so you can see the colour evolving on my beak and feathers. So stay tuned! Took my first bath by myself Nov 25th 2007 Hello my dear friends, Mommy saw me yesterday trying to fit in my water dispenser to wash myself and she gave me a plastic bowl with fresh water to bath myself into... Snow is here Hello ya all, we got our first real snow (which means it is staying on the ground). There are about 2 inches of it on the ground. Mom is all excited, she is a ski patroller (gives first aid to people who hurt themselves on the ski hill). She went to ski patrol last Saturday, helped 2 people. I had to stay in my cage during that time, but once she came back I was back on my play pen for hours with nice treats (cauliflower, brocoli, apples and nuts). My name is Moustache! After a few weeks home, mom decided to finally call me Moustache. Yeah, you might say that she doesn't have much imagination, but it fits me perfectly and it doesn't matter if I'm a girl or a boy. For Xmas, we are going to travel to aunty Lyne's in Ottawa (Canada's Capital). Can't wait to see her, I haven't met her and her husband yet. Should be fun with Xmas Carols playing in the car! November 9th 2007 Yesterday, mom got my health test results from my vet Dr. Beaulieu (we live in Québec), so I speak mainly French, but mom is bilingual. The test results came back with excellent mark! I'm healthy!!! This is reassuring mom a lot, I don't think she might have been able to let another bird go so soon... See you soon! First Day by myself in my new cage Hello birdie friends, I have been living in my new habitat for a full day. It's different from where I was and my new dog friend Juliette, a very small Bichon Frisé, is a bit jealous of all the attention I get from mom. I know she would love to play with me, but mom says no... Mom gets me out of the cage as soon as she arrives home from work. November 4th 2007 My mom adopted me today, I was a bit scared at first. I travelled home in a cardboard cage. Didn't enjoyed it much. Mom took real great care of me, 'cause it was only 8 degrees celsius outside! I used to share my windowed cage with my sibbling. After my mom put together the cage, toys and food... I ate some apples, that was so good! I tried to speak a few times, but not too loud just to tell my mom that I enjoyed her cuddlyness. I had my first night out of the Petshop in my own cage.
