Hi ya Zena~
How are you doing today? I hope everything is going great for you and the flock!
It's still sunshine here and I'm loving it! I'm looking out my window at the gardeners mowing the lawns! It's noisy but it smells good!
Mom has to go off to the market soon but she just going to the one across the street. She figures she'll go to the bigger on during the week since it's always so busy on Fridays. I have a stash of apples and corn bread so I don't care if she goes or not. I am out of pecans but that's something she buys at the other store. I have almonds as a back up so it's all good.
I'm going to supervise the turtle tank cleaning this afternoon. If it wasn't so windy, mom would put them out on the balcony for a while to grab some rays. Pretty soon it will be warm enough for that and they seem to really enjoy it.

To all my dear friends, I won't be on the BC the next few days, other than to give Luigi his BOTM vote. Mom's heart is very heavy with grief. Our dog Chloe crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning around 10am. Chloe was a wonderful dog & she & mom loved each other very much. She will be greatly missed. Chloe was diagnosed with lung cancer a month ago. Today, May 6th, was her 9th birthday.

How are u sweetie? Not much happening here today! Mom was busy doing things so I thought I'd follow her around & help her! My plan worked beautifully...she scooped me up & took me outside to drive my car! It looks like I'll get to go outside everyday this week! The weather guessers are calling for thunderstorms Saturday, but it's looking pretty good until then! I love to take a shower, but for some reason I freak out when I get rained on!

DJ LUIGI here to tell everybirdy that I will be running for BOTM starting tomorrow. I wanted to greet all of you unique birds. I am a peach-faced lovebird, even childish but with a caring heart I gained from my mom. Through this message I send to each one of you wonderful birds, I wanted to thank the ones who helped my throughout this new year for gaining confidence in myself. I also thank the ones who helped me achieve my 500 mark to participate for BOTM. My reason to run BOTM is not for the winning, but for the message I bring to each one of you throughout the campaign. I also came to mention that the month of may is the month where mom is very busy with her schoolwork, where assignments and summatives are due. Hi SKY here with part 3 of our interview with TAZ, the PROCTOR FLOCK and their mom GAIL. SKY; Do you volunteer somewhere,or speak to people about birds
Mom GAIL; I don’t volunteer anywhere as there is no place near us. I do volunteer to take my birds (mainly Simon and Scooby) to local elementary schools. I do have a funny story about Simon while at an elementary school…we all were moving our birds from classroom to classroom and my husband, Burt, was carrying Simon and I was a head of them in the hallway when Simon decided he wanted to be with me and not Burt so he flew out of Burt’s hand toward me when he overshot me and failed to stop or turn before he got to the wall and crash (he wasn’t hurt…he’s pretty hard headed in more ways than one). Nothing else was hurt or damaged so we continued on to the next classroom, when we got home we got a call from the school about Simon…he was not welcome back unless he had his wings clipped or was wearing a harness. Since neither of those was going to happen he never went back to that school. We tell everyone that he got kicked out of school…hehe
Scooby loves to go to and see the kids and the kids love him. All the kids line up and one by one they get to have Scooby step up on their arms…the look on their faces is priceless…

How are u sweetie? The nerve of my mom! Gizmo, Willie & Falco's mom & my mom went to lunch yesterday & had a buffet at an Indian restaurant! I can't believe mom didn't bring me back any food after locking me in my cage for hours! I didn't even bite mom, tho I thought about it! Hehehe! Mom said she would make sketties today, so that makes me very happy! Sketties is one of my very favorite meals! Mom always uses penne pasta coz it's easier for me to hold! That means garlic bread too! Mmmm, tho I only get a very small piece coz mom says garlic isn't good for me. Why is it that the foods that are sooooo yummy are bad for us! Who decides this anyway...I know it's not a birdie!
Geeezzzz, this crazy weather! Thursday we had a high of 85! At 10am this morning, it was 33 degrees & sputtering snow, with a high of 46! In 2 days time, a difference of 40 degrees for the high temps! Let's all hope Mother Nature gets her act together! Have a great day sweetie!
Yes, Sadie the wiener dog is very annoying! She thinks she is the boss of the house & tries to hog mom to herself! I was here long before her! & she doesn't like when mom holds me, & she has no fear of me, & she's only 14 lbs (a little on the chubby side for a mini)! Our 60 lb Pitt mix is very afraid of me...go figure!

How are u sweetie? I hope u had a wonderful day! It was a beautiful day here today, 84 & sunny, but it will be cooling off...again! I really enjoyed my dinner tonight! I had Teriyaki noodles, salad, & mandarin oranges. Mmmm it was delicious! I had apple & cranberry oatmeal for breakfast again today. It was a great day to be me! Hehehe! See u tomorrow sweetie!

How are u sweetie? Hope u are having a great day! Mom is sooooo tickled that she figured out how to C&P from her cell! U see, mom is very technologically challenged, so it's a big deal to her! It's like giving a child a new toy! Hehe! It sure beats having to sit at the computer for a long period of time!
The Milonga was a lot of fun! I was silent most of the time tho, mom fell asleep & I was left without a typist!
It is after 7pm EDT & I'm just beginning to send out my blogs! Lately my mom has been struck with severe fatigue to the point it's hard for her to function, which is all part of MS. Her neurologist is putting her on a new med. Once the insurance company approves it, she hopes to get some relief. I don't like mom napping on my time!
Mmmm mom gave me some apple cranberry oatmeal for dinner! I LOVE oatmeal! I ate it until I couldn't hold another bite, spoon fed by mom of course! Have a good night & see u tomorrow!

I'm glad you got back out of your cage, sweetie! The new pic on Falco's page is another tuktuk, which the 5 travelers piled into when they finished shopping in Bangkok. They had all their packages, too, and giggled all the way back to the hotel. Mom is going to the spring flower show today at Phipps conservatory, so we might have pics to share soon. If there is nothing spectacular there, though, we won't. Mom will be taking pics with her new phone, so she may have to learn how to get them from the phone to the computer. Mom is retired, and swears she had more time in the day when she was working full time! Well, mom saw the first baby bunnies at the center yesterday! There are a couple of litters, so it looks like baby season has officially started. The avian nursery is all torn up right now because they are installing a bathroom for the volunteers. It will be welcome, as they have to walk on ice in the winter to find one. (It's in another building on the property.) Mom is hoping no baby birds get there before they finish the construction. She did some cages from the nursery yesterday, but they were in the small flight aviary. There are a couple of cedar waxwings who have overwintered at the center, a finch, and some pigeons all in separate cages in there. The little house finch got out, but mom was able to net it and replace it in the cage. Today for the first time, it's supposed to get into the 50s, and they're guessing mid 60s by Sunday. We really hope the weather guessers are right this time, we're so ready for spring! Hope you are having a bright, sunshiney day! Finally out
My wife finally got Zena to come out of her cage last night. She did not want to come out for almost a week, having lost her flight feathers in a cage fright incident. A photo album from the shelf behind her cage fell out in the middle of the night and she must of fluttered all her flight feathers off. At least that is what we figured out with all the feathers at the bottom of the cage and the album against the cage. When she came out the next night, she flew about five feet and fluttered to the floor. Char picked her up for her usual snuggles, but the next night she couldn't ber cozxed out of the cage. Hello everyone, Sky here with this weeks SPOTLIGHT on CARING. I must apologize for missing 2 weeks but with the disappearance of Oliver 2 it was decided to fore-go continuing his Spotlight article. As many of you will know last week was of extreme stress at the SKY Flock Home. After being asked by several of my good BC friends I will share what took place.
On the weekend of March 23rd a woman came to visit us looking to adopt a baby Budgie. When she saw that my Momma Deb has 2 very sweet pet rats she screamed and looked rather uncomfortable. Her husband teased her for over-reacting. She stayed and met the little white and violet baby that was ready for his new home. Happy with the baby she left with her new friend.
While here she met me, SKY, minding my own business chewing on wood blocks and just hanging out as usual. She never asked what was wrong with my wing or Momma Deb would have explained my story of abuse. On Monday morning the OSPCA where at the front door with a complaint regarding the home being over-run in rats ( come on now, 2 is not over-run) and there were birds inside with broken limbs.
Momma Deb allowed them into our home, having nothing to hide. They checked all of us out and when the woman inspector met me and my fister Little Angel a severe plucker, she told my Momma Deb that both of us couldn't have a quality life, and that she ought to think of euthanizing us. Momma Deb told her in no uncertain terms her opinion on that one.
The inspectors who decided my life was worthless also didn't know a Budgie from a Cockatiel or one color of each from another. This uneducated person who passed a death sentence knew nothing about birds.
Momma Deb was very upset about what was said regarding me and Little Angel and turned to her BC family for help. The response was beyond belief. When the male inspector returned last Thursday he said the OSPCA had received 100s of emails and many calls on our behalf. All was revoked and we shall remain safely with Momma Deb. Through this Momma Deb learned the following;
1) no owner HAS to allow the animal control people into their home without a written warrant
2) whenever possible keep something in writing from a Vet stating that the bird is healthy, and able to live a quality life. If it has any disability or behavior issue-plucking etc
3) ignorance is dangerous--educate these people before they arrive at someone else's door. If you are "birdly," offer to consult for them
4) The BC family is a powerful force in your corner when you really need them.

Mom did the bird part of the egg hunt today at the museum, and they gave out the best eggs of all! There were little fuzzy chicks in different colors in the plastic eggs they handed out, and the kids loved them. Mom has some of them in a bigger size, but these were precious! After our blogging the wedding soup prep and the house cleaning will take place, at least until mom gets tired of it. The soup is the priority at this point. Our house smells so good, like Easter bread! Hope you are all ready for Easter, and can relax and have fun today. Oh that's just too funny...ur dogs have respect for a little lovebird! Sadie is a 13 pound mini Dachshund, & has no respect &NO FEAR of me at all! In fact, one day when I was on the floor, she tried to attack me & mom had to grab her 3 times before she got a hold of her. I was fine but sure did a lot of hollering! Mom hurried & put out her hand, I quickly stepped up & said WHOOOA!, then started laughing! The strange thing is that our 60 pound Pitt mix is very afraid of me...go figure! U would think the little tiny dog would be the one afraid of a macaw! Because of that incident, I now have to be locked in my cage when mom leaves...she's afraid Sadie the wiener will eat me!
