 ***11/26/07 update: I want to thank all of my friends here on BC for electing me as BOTW. I am very honored and touched***I was a very brave bird which is how I got my name BraveHeart. I was misunderstood, got in trouble for just being a bird, and had my tootsies burned off on a stove top. I was rescued from that person and was brought to Second Chance Bird Rescue, where I will live forever. They think I am really special there! I have a very special cage with ramps and horizontial bars so I can climb with my little nubbie footsies, and I am the Rescue's mascot which means I am really important. Here's a little poem about my story: To climb a rope. To sit on a perch and enjoy eating a piece of apple that I hold by myself. To play on a ladder and hang upside down from my swing. To sit on your shoulder and whisper in your ear. These are things I dream of doing, but will never be able to do. Because I made a sound. Because I got food on the floor. Who knows why.
Because I was a bird and did things that birds do.
My life changed. ....Forever.
My name is BraveHeart, and I was Brave. When I was yelled at, I was Brave. When I was lacking companionship and love, I was Brave. When I felt the heat on my toes that burned them away, I was Brave. When all I could do was scream, and dream that it would stop, I was Brave.
When someone who I thought would take care of me put me in the path of danger, I was Brave. All I wanted was to give love and get love, and when no one wanted me because I was not perfect, I was still Brave. Then...I was found. Now......
I am loved for no reason.
I am cared for just because.
I have a second chance at life. And no longer need to be Brave. My name is BraveHeart, and this is my story. My long journey has ended...or has it just begun.. |

As you know I often stop here to visit and pray for BC birds and to think. I met your Mom and Kim from Second Chance and your Momma still has tears in her eyes when she speaks of you. She loves you always. I see others have visited you, and I'm glad. Too bad your page owner doesn't come by anymore. Maybe she will once she's notified we have stopped by.

Hello Braveheart~
Did you know that I think about you everyday? Mom says when we keep friends in our hearts and thoughts that they are never really gone from us.
Your story touched my heart so very much and it is something I will never, ever forget. I know that on the Rainbow Bridge you are whole again and able to do all the things a bird should do. I have many friends up there and I know that you all take care of each other.

Hello Braveheart~
I found your page by mistake one day months ago but I like to think it was destiny that brought me here.
Mom and I were both in tears after reading your story. We had to know more so we went to the Second Chance Bird rescue page and found out that you had flown to the Rainbow Bridge.
I wish we could have know each other while you were still here on the BC but I didn't join until after you had gone to the bridge.
We have the Rainbow-net so I can send you a note now and tell you that I think you are the bravest bird ever.
We say a special prayer for you and your mom every night. She is a real hero and we are so very glad that you got to have time with her and know what love is.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM LONG-LOST LITTLE LUCY
Hi Braveheart, I don't know exactly how you and I got separated, but I'm so sorry about that. It was probably between all of Mommy's traveling in her job (which she doesn't have anymore) and my Daddy having cancer the past year and a half. Things got pretty hectic what with all the visits for radiation everyday and then the chemo every week. But, hey, Praise the Lord! Daddy is all better now. He's still not back to work because he developed neuropathy in his hands and feet from the chemo. So his feet hurt a lot when he stands on them for any length of time. They even hurt when he desn't stand on them.
Have your parronts rescued or adopted any new birds lately? We have a sort-of new bird in our house. After little Daisy's terrible accident, Mommy needed to find another feathered baby who needed a home. He's a re-homed little guy that Mommy adopted last April. His name is Finnegan and he's an ekkie. Actually his name WAS Simon, but Mommy thought he needed a new name for a new life, and since he's bright green, she thought he looked a little Irish. So she decided to name him Finnegan. He's about 2 1/2 yrs. old and has been a wonderful addition to our family. He's so friendly to everyone who comes in the door, but Mommy is still his favorite. He has never bitten anyone and is just very affectionate. However, he doesn't like his back touched, so Mommy can't pet him. She can stroke his tummy a little and can even touch his wings a bit, but not his head or back. Any suggestions? Well, I want to wish you and your family the very best new year ever, filled with good health, happines and as many blessings as our Good Lord can shower on you. I just flew in to see how you are doing, I hope you are well!! Haven't been blogging for a while our Mommy has been upset with tears for one of my dear friend Buddy a Molucaan Cockatoo went to Rainbow Bridge last week, plus Mommy 2nd bird that she rescued about 10 yrs ago died on the 4th of July - so mom has been very sad, but I sure do get extra hugs and kisses even though she gets my feathers wet:) Here's a big vote and birdie kisses and hugs until next time. Guess what? My mom recieved her T-shirts that I won her on Bird-Tube.com yesterday! She entered the video of me freaking out to Ray Charles and it won! I can't believe it! I'm so happy and my mom is gonna buy me a new toy! YIPPY! I put a picture of one of the T-shirts on my page and I also added a picture of my momma and my uncle, her brother. I was ready to cry...
When I read your story...how could anyone do such a thing? I sure hope that person that hurt you got in big trouble for what they did to you. It's just so terrible that people don't do research before purchasing any pet, to make sure they can handle the needs of the animal they plan on purchasing. I am so glad that your new owner was able to accomodate you so that you can get around in your cage with ramps (how clever - she must really love you a lot). I noticed you haven't updated your blog since 11/2007, hopefully everything is okay. I am new to this website and stumbled across your story. HELLO BRAVEHEART
I sure hope that you doing ok. You haven't been on here for a long long time. I just wanted to stop by to tell you.. My mom finally hung my boing up yesterday and I had fun rocking it back and forth. That was soooo relaxing! My mom video taped it and she is gonna put it on You tube later today. It's a short video but it shows me rocking it. Tootes also got his hatchday toy yesterday. He loves it and my mom put a picture of it on his main picture but he was afraid of it but now he's used to it so she wants to get a better picture of him on it. I also got a new toy yesterday but I have been taking the hooks off of my toys and then the toys fall to the bottem of my cage and sometimes I poo on them. That makes my mom mad! She says that my toys are way to expensive to be pooping on them. hee hee!! I guess I have a hook fedish! So as we speak, my toy is on the bottem of my cage.. My Mommy sure wishes she lived near you so she could volunteer. She says that before I got here, she had some cockatiels that had been rescued. One of them was so abused that she began tearing holes in her skin and her owner was too cheap to have her treated and was going to drown her. Mommy brought her home with missing feathers and toes and loved her and she never took out another feather for the rest of hwer long life. I can't imagine someone being so cruel to you or other birds. My new Mommy would sacrifice her own life before she would let us get hurt. I have only been here for one week at my new house and I already adore my new Mommy. I am glad you are safe now and that you are loved. Hi, haven't been able to blog for a while. Mom has only been able to jump on look around and jump off. Life is just so busy. We really miss chatting with our friends. Spring is slowly springing around here, one day chilly, one day warm we don't know if we should turn on the heater or air conditioner. how are you? My good friend Buddy & his fiblings Clyde & Tiki from Ocean City MD, asked me to spread the word about their mum Kathy. She's been in hospital for serious bowel surgery. She had many complications & says, that she's been to hell & back! But finally she was allowed to come home. She's still very weak & has a lot of recovering to do. Buddy is so happy to have her home, but he's wondering why his mum can't pick him up,like she normally does? Well, she's still too weak to do that, after all he's a big cockatoo!
