For the longest timeI had been wanting to add, either an African Grey or an Amazon to my home, and both were for sale in the pets for sale in the newspaper, for the same price! When Jenny and I met, the search was over, as she walked over to me and started crawling up my leg, she knew, and I knew, that we would be forever friends, and while she was no longer wanted in her other home, you should see and feel the love she exudes to all who come near her, she adds the brilliance of Summer sunshine to our home daily! I could not possibly imagine my life without Jennifer, without Jen I would cease to be, she gives me reason and makes my heart beat!! Jenny Lynn is an awesome parrot...

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Tell dad to hang in there, you will be back with him soon.
Mom went with her niece to see the opera last night. The scenery was really cute, it looked very 2 dimensional, and was mostly drawn onto a white background, so looked very childlike and unsophisticated. The music was typical Stravinsky, mom liked it a lot. In fact, she enjoyed the music more than the singing, because the music was playful in spots. The cast was very well matched vocally, and the chorus did a bang up job! For an opera written in 1951, it was pretty good. Mom doesn't usually like contemporary works like that. They had dinner at Nicky's Thai Kitchen before the performance, too.
Today mom has to do a 3 hour spotlight at the new pterosaurs in Dinosaur hall. They are cicnorhamphus, and they are hanging above the hall. Mom thinks she'll be on the second floor balcony, so people can see them better. They are pretty cool pterosaurs, have beaks that indicate they were filter feeders, something like flamingos.
I think after the museum, mom will head to Barnes and Noble, then come home. I hope you are having a good day there. It's gloomy here, and raining off and on. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  hi beautiful !
Rain here in NY today . . . but that's OK, cause there's not a lot going on. Mom is recovering from last night. The show went really well - only one little actor missed a line, and it wasn't an important one. The cast party was LOUD. She was even able to eat a slice of pizza ! ! Thank goodness in junior high there's only one performance unlike high schools which do two full weekends. Don't think she could do that ! Me either - I do love my daddy, but he's not a very good tucker inner and mom had to fix my blankee when she got home about half past midnight.

Now things can get back (sort of) to normal here ! I hope ! But, like aunt Karen said - it'll be time to wrap up the school year soon and that means extra work . . . but at least it means summer is almost here !

She will go out later to get me my fresh veggies - yesterday she got hers and daddy's foods. I'll try to be a good boy and let her rest . . . love to you and Lalo and uncle Chuck ! Cookie

  Hi Jenny Lynn
HAHA ... mom says NO videos of her! Bunni's pic is on my page. He is very nice.
We have one of those little grab bars on our bath/shower. A few tears ago, mom slipped in the tub and boy was she ever sore. Dad also has numb feet so, they decided to put those up ... very helpful. That's greyt you get the setup for free. All vets should get free things! We thank you for your service :)
Oh, no worries, the girls will be home soon. I know they miss you a lot too. Keep getting better.
I enjoyed a breakfast of scrambled eggs and oj. Then it was beach/ocean day for the parronts. After they came home, we enjoyed the pool and lanai. Tomorrow starts Kentucky Derby Week ... so eggciting!

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Today mom was home all day though she was downstairs cleaning a little bit so I had to be in my condo then. Maybe this feather trim is keeping her home now.
After she got her feather trim yesterday all her curls were gone so she had to give herself another perm when she got home. When mom does that she hides out in the back room till she is done because she doesn’t want me around the stinky stuff. Good it don’t take her long though and a double good cause dad was home so I could be out of the condo at least.
I did get my bath today and mom blow dried me cause it was a little chilly and she don’t want me getting chilled. I am still fixing my feathers and picking out all those little white fuzzies too.
Mom got her duplicate drivers license today in the mail so she will put those back and use her original ones though. She has to get new ones next year for her birthday present anyway LOL. “A memory last forever never does it die. True friends stay together and never say goodbye.” Your friend, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Jen
Well, Mom took her last antibiotic today, and the cough is almost gone. Hopefully by the time she tries the gym again on Monday, it will actually work. She is feeling a lot better.

Mom abandoned me this morning to go to the bank with Dad and deposit her two tax checks, plus he had his tax checks and a couple of reimbursements from insurance. Since she was not gone very long, I did forgive her.

Fortunately for me Mom is rereading one of her favorite book series, and since she is just on book one of four I am getting lots of Mom time. Plus we shared a half sandwich of warm pastrami and provolone on sourdough for lunch. I really do love pastrami, probably the best of all the meats I get to share with my mom. She is pretty fond of it too, but we both get enough. Then we shared a tapioca pudding cup for dessert! Now that is definitely high on my list of favorite treats. Love that stuff!!

  Hi ya Jen~
I hope you are all having a great day! How did the doctor visit go? Hope it was all good. Another one on Monday! It really isn't all that bad since mom knows of people that use to go several times a week. A couple of times a month is doable.
Nothing of interest going on here today. Mom is doing more laundry and when that is done she is going to sleep. She didn't get up until half an hour before she had to leave last night! She doesn't know if she set the alarm wrong of if it just didn't go off. It's a really old clock. Mom got it before Ian was born so it's over 33 years old. Perhaps it is time to look into getting a new one! She can set the alarm on her cell phone so it's no big deal.
You all enjoy the day and please give dad our love! Big hugs to you all!

That is greyt you get to have bath alterations so dad can more safely use that room. It can be a very hazardous place.

  Hi Jenny
It's Popeye.
Guess what? It rained last night. Dad never saw it coming. We got a "soaking" 0.03 inches. Dad never made it out to mow the front yard yesterday and today it's too wet to mow. Their friends will be in tomorrow so dad may try to get it all done in one day. Yeah, RIGHT!
Mom sent dad back to Costco yesterday. The coupons expire today and mom wanted things. Well, so did everybody else in La Habra and dad swears they were all at Costco. It took dad almost 2 hours to get the stuff and get home and he was not a happy shopper. But mom was starting to fix a pork butt roast with roasted veggies so dad mellowed out real fast. It's one of his favorites.
Today will be partly cloudy, with a high of 71 and a low of 50. Maybe it will rain some more.
QUESTION:
If mom was cooking a pork butt roast, does that mean that there is a hog running around somewhere that can't sit down?
Hope your day is fun.
Hugs,
Popeye

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Busy days are good, it means dad is getting better!
Mom wasn't going to, but she posted 2 pics of me in my collar, because some birdies asked to see. As you can see, it's like a turtleneck. I hope it comes off soon, because it's keeping me from getting spritzed or getting a bath. Mom is afraid to wet it, thinking that might damage my skin under it.
Today there's not much going on. It's a beautiful day outside, though. Mom walked the dogs in sunshine! She'll spend part of today getting ready for the opera tonight. Aunt Ginny can't go with her, so her niece Jessica is going to pick mom up for dinner and the opera. The opera is The Rake's Progress, which mom has never heard. It's by Igor Stravinsky, who wrote some controversial music in his day, like the Firebird and the Rite of Spring. Those are both ballets that mom likes, so hopefully the opera will be at least interesting.
I hope you are having a great day today, getting some sun and lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  hi pretty Jen . . .
How did uncle Chuck make out at the orthopedic doctor appointment ? That's good that he had someone take him - till he gets his strength back - we want him safe !

What a lovely afternoon yesterday ! Mom came straight home from school plopped down on the sofa and skritched my head :) When I started squawking, she brought me my bath tub and we both got soaked before settling down for a nice long talk and the singing of some songs :) Daddy made burritos for dinner so mom didn't even have to leave me to fix dinner ! ! Then I got apple for dessert ! ! Life is good !

It'll be even better after the weekend of drama club ! This morning she and dad will do some grocery shopping before she heads back to school to start getting everything ready. I'll bet she'll even try to take a nap - cause it'll be a mighty late night ! Cast party till midnight ! Two adults with 47 young teens (6-8 grade) ! Pretty scary !

Well, you have a great Saturday and love to you and Lalo and uncle Chuck ! See you tomorrow :) love Cookie

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Hope all went well for your dad at his appointment. My mom had an appointment with her new doctor today. She will also have to see two other docs for her "C" check-ups. Not looking forward to that but it is necessary.
Not much going on here. It was another sunny day of 91 and still no rain. I was busy chewing up some wood toys and I'm proud of the artistic design on the floor. It looks greyt to me.
Mom was outside watering the plants and someone came up to her ... it was Bunni. He just watched her and walked along with her for a while. I guess I should tell him that I do the supervising around here, it's my job.

Heya, Miss Jenny and Dad and Flock!
Hope the doctor appt. went well for your Dad. Glad someone drove him--we figure it is easier for him not to have to try to drive himself and then try to park and walk. No thank you!

We got to 47 today and Mom said that the sun outside was very deceiving. Cold wind dropped it to feel like 36. Brr! She went out to Sam's Club today and picked up a couple things. She also put a new trunk organizer thing in the trunk and took the old box that had her stuff in it and tossed it. The organizer is pretty darn cool, too. Has velcro on the bottom, and it sticks to the carpeting in the trunk so things don't move all over. Mom is happy the trunk looks so nice now!! (Doesn't take much to make her happy, I guess). And then she did some laundry under my supervision. And then we just had a nice afternoon together.

Have a greyt rest of the evening!

  Hi Jenny Lynn
moms eye is feeling better and just a little itchy . her side really hurts but that should go away. mom waited for dad, at the eye doctors, for 3 hours. she finished a book and then dad came out and said the doctor said his eye was much better and dad was very relieved. it was good mom was forced to sit there since she couldn't get into anymore accidents while reading. mom came home and then slept and slept some more and is feeling more rested. today she bought 3 yellow twig dogwoods to plant. they re good for -40F and don't require much sun.

Bad Paddy Cake was at it again and landed on top of the curtains in the bedroom and took off with the silk poop protector mom made to cover the curtains. its about 12 feet long and when i saw that thing dropping down to the carpet I panicked and ran into my cat carrier for safety and wouldn't come out until mom had it draped over the top of the curtains again.

Boo Boo saw it falling first and had already hoped to the other end of the bedroom before i even knew what was happening.

  Hi Jenny Lynn!
Hi Everybirdie! Tonight we will be making a shreddable toy that looks like a person. You will need,

- A wiffle ball
- Cupcake papers
- Beads
- 2 bigger wood beads
- Mini wood blocks
- Paper straws
- A treat cup
- 3 paper loaf cups
- Safe stringing material

Start by taking a pretty long piece of string, and tying a loop at the top. String on a bead, and then take 5-6 cupcake papers and cut the sides into strips, and then string those on like you would for a puff, one facing down, one facing up, and so on. Now string on the wiffle ball, and then a longer or bigger bead. Now you are going to take a new piece of string, and tie it onto your first piece under the big bead you just added. Once you tie that on, you should have two pieces hanging down on either side of the original piece. On both strands, you are going to string on a mini block, and then half of a paper straw. Then knot the ends on both sides. Now going back to the original string, take a treat cup and poke a hole in the bottom, then string it on facing down. Now take your 3 loaf cups, and poke holes in the bottom of them. String one on facing down, then string on a bead, then another loaf cup, then another bead, then the last loaf cup. Now string on 2-3 beads, and then take another new piece of string and tie it on the original, just like last time. You will want the two pieces hanging down so that they are longer. On each strand, string on a single big bead, and then knot the bottoms. Now string one more bead on the original strand, and knot the bottom. You're done!

Mom just adores this toy, she says it is one of her favorites that she has made. There is a picture in my gallery!

Thank you so much for voting for me! Just one more night until I will hopefully be in the castle! I'll see you tomorrow night. (:

Hugs,

Hope dads doctor visits bring great results!!
Today was another cool cloudy day here in the burg. At least it was as cold and dreary as it was yesterday. Mom did a few things around here this morning and then she got ready to go for a much needed hair cut. I usually get a bath on Friday but mom said it was a bit too cold today so maybe tomorrow I will get one. Mom said she will blow dry me if its still cold. I miss my sun baths though and they sure help my feathers a lot. I start looking pretty bad by the end of winter cause I like to chew off my feathers. I just take the tips of the feather off and leave some and mom says I feel like a porcupine . There are some new ones coming in now and I am not chewing them off as much now either. I wonder if this hair cut will keep mom from flying away so much!! “A memory last forever never does it die. True friends stay together and never say goodbye.” Your friend, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

Ms LaLo,Angel Christy and sweet Uncle Chuck!
Our good thoughts and prayers go out for Uncle Chuck to have a successful Orthopedic doctors appointment and its so good that someone will be there to pick him up!Please keep us updated on how it all went,we all know that Uncle Chuck really works so hard on getting back to his normal self again.
This morning was a bright sunny but cool morning with the highs for the day of 50 the lows of 41 and right now its 49.Mom got dad off to work and then she loaded the car with the trash and the rest of the recyclables then got us up and cleaned our cages and swept our room and gave us our bean mix.She got our birdie trash in the car along with all the donation stuff and trash that Mom and skin sis cleaned out of the work out room last Sunday. Then both Dixie and Candida were put in our carrier and Mom took off to Nana's house.Mom got us in our cages there and then she once again unloaded her car into Nana's car and got Nana's things trash and recyclables in her car and they took off for the dump.It took Mom quite a while to get rid of all the recyclables and all the donation boxes,Nana's car was filled from the back seat to the trunk floor and all.Mom kept running from one end of the recyclables to the donation tables. From there they went to True Value to see if Nana could get a new washer for our cousin Bella's water bottle as it was constantly leaking. The girl there found one for her but the bottle still leaked so they took it out and said it was the spout that was causing the problem. They went back to Nana's after that and Mom called skin sis and she came down within 10 minutes.Nana made tea and mini bagels for Mom and her for breakfast and skin sis came in while they were having it.Then Mom,Nana and skin sis went out to Nana's front yard and both Mom and Nana were digging around in Nana's front garden to plant her dying primroses.Mom planted six of them for Nana and then she and Nana were pulling weeds and got a pile of them pulled.Mom kept getting grabbed by a rose bush and the thorns kept sticking in her and she had to twist around and get the thorns out of her pants and hope that they didn't leave holes in them.Nana was beginning to hurt more and so she had everyone go inside so she could make lunch(a salad with fruit)and after they finished eating we fids all got a fruit bowl which was so yummy!Dixie and Candida got to stay in Nana's sun room and enjoy the view out back. Then Mom and Nana went into the sun room and worked on some of their quilting for an hour. They had lunch and then Mom got ready to leave around 3:30pm,cleaned our cages and got us back in our carriers .Skin sis followed.Mom got stuck in the long long lines of traffic at the end of Nana's street to get out onto the main road. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting for a chance to get out she finally did.Mom beat dad home by minutes and he was so surprised to see her home so early, usually Mom doesn't get home until well after 6:00pm.Mom put

  Hello Jen~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's a boring day around here and after yesterday that is just fine by me!
Mom made a big pot of pinto beans and is going to use part of them for chili and try making refried beans out of the rest.
Thank you for the BOTD congrats! It was a huge surprise to see myself in the spotlight box! I had a great time and Lizzy and Chipper certainly made some fabulous food!
The overnight construction continues! They managed to get part of the left lane across the street paved last night. That means they will start working on our side tonight. They don't work Saturday or Sunday so I only have to put up with the beeping for one more night. Mom is leaving the radio turned up to help drown out the noise.
They did the cross street in 4 nights but I don't think they can shut down many lanes out here because it's a truck route. We are only a mile from the freeway on ramp so there are lots of trucks heading towards the freeway including the huge trucks from Boeing. They make the wings down here and ship them up to Everett to put on the planes.
McKenzie saw her first baby this morning and she did not know what to make of it! The lady who lives across from us has a 3 month old daughter and she was out in her car seat when McKenzie was going out to the dog park! McKenzie sat down and started wagging her tail! Then the baby started fussing so McKenzie got behind mom!hahahahahaha I suppose I should laugh at her since those little humans make me nervous too!
Gardeners are here and they planted tons of yellow mums out front. It looks so pretty! They just started to do the lawns since it was raining this morning.
Enjoy the day and I hope it's just spectacular! We hope you dads appointment went well!! He is doing great and you will be back home before you know it!

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Mom took another shot at the gym this morning, but Becky met her at the door and said she wanted her to do 5 minutes on the tread mill at walking pace and no incline. If she could manage that, then they would work out. Well, Mom had to sit down at the end of the 5 minutes, so Becky said no way! She also suggested Mom stop at Starbuck's on the way home and get what she called "Sick Tea". It is supposed to help with the kind of thing that is kicking Mom's tail feathers: green tea, mint, steamed lemonade and honey. Mom drank it all, but then she felt kind of queasy and laid down for an hour. Guess it is not for her.

Then we shared half a roast beef and provolone sandwich for lunch. I must admit I prefer the sandwich to the wrap, because Mom doesn't put that nasty spinach on there. I do like me some RB!

Then Mom went to the library to get the books she had reserved. She stopped at Trader Joe's on the way home to stock up on my raw almonds and cashews. Plus she got pecan pieces so that means cookies are in our future! Yay!

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Mom's sister drove her to the eye surgeon yesterday, and in spite of messed up directions from MapQuest, they managed to find the place. The directions told them to do a U turn and go back up the same road, but the place was to their right where the U turn was indicated! Anyway, the doctor did the laser procedure in her right eye, and said he didn't think the left one needed it at all, and maybe never would. Wouldn't that be great? So she has to put in prednisone drops for 5 days, and see her regular eye doc next week for a follow up. She's already seeing better, though. Mom went to dinner with her sister while they waited for the prescription drops to be ready.
This morning mom had the bunny room to clean. She cleaned about 22 cages, with about 40 or so bunnies. There was another person in there weighing them, so that was a huge help. In the middle of cleaning the bunnies, the director came in and asked mom to tube feed 6 possum babies, so she left to do that, too. The babies were in an incubator in the mammal nursery, in a Christmas stocking. Cute, right? They didn't want to go back in there after they were fed, so mom just covered them with a soft blanket and left the stocking in with them. Possums are so cute when they are that little, and they are pretty easy to intubate. Of course, mom clogged one of the feeding tubes, and squirted possum milk all over the place, including her glasses and face. It all worked out though. She managed to get them all done. The staff was complaining about tubes clogging when she went back to the bunny room, so she was glad it wasn't just her.
Now mom is ours for the rest of the day. She needs to do some laundry, but other than that, she's ours, all ours.
It's still pretty cool here, in the low 50s with cloud cover, so it doesn't look too good outside. I hope you are getting better weather, and lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Jenny
It's Popeye.
The drive to Los Angeles wasn't so bad. They got there in plenty of time. The play was funny. It was called "The Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder". If you like British humor you'll love the play. But once again, the drive home was a bummer. They stopped at a small Thi restaurant and mom's parronts bought dinner for mom and dad. The food was great. We'd tell you what they had but dad can't spell it, let alone pronounce it. He does know that the soup was made with coconut milk and had lemon grass in it. It was wonderful soup.
Today will be partly cloudy, with a high of 71 and a low of 50. Dad needs to start cleaning up the front lawn again.
Hope your day was fun.
Hugs,
Popeye

you two look great together !
Looks like there'll be some stiff competition ! Hooray for Friday ! Mom and co-coach decided that today - no rehearsal - just practice curtain calls. That means she'll be home before 4:00 ! I think I heard daddy say something about burritos - they're soft, so mom just hopes they won't be too spicy (even though that's the way she loves them !) and irritate her mouth.

I've been busy dragging my measuring cups and paper towel rolls from my gym into my cage and then standing guard over them - I do love my heaps ! Mom says though that she may clean it out when she gets home today - I'll work on figuring out a better hiding place while she's gone . . .

Tomorrow, no visiting with the g'parronts - that'll wait till Sunday, so that means I'll have to wait for my veggies too . . . although it looks like the garden shop down the road is getting ready to open - the owner is a bird lover and always sends something yummy home for me ! He has a 'too who comes to work with him on nice summer days . . .

I hope uncle Chuck had a more quiet day yesterday - and today too. We love him lots ! Cookie

  Hi Jenny,
Mom came home sick this morning. After 1 hour of work she went to the Urgent Clinic about 10 miles away on Kapahulu Avenue and they told her she was contagious! Ooh no!! So she got the antibiotics and they are the size of horse pills! Yuck!!

So mom won't go back to work till Monday as it will take awhile for the meds to kick in.

So she's mine for 4 days, but all she wants to do is sleep. She's getting old I tell ya.

Mom has a bacteria thingy along with a touch of bronchitis. Sounds like a bad mixture if you ask me. Now with all that coughing she lost her voice. I can barely hear her when she calls me.

Have you seen moms voice?? :)

Here's a hug and night night vote for you, hope your day is going great.

Love,

Laka

  Hi Jenny Lynn!
Hi Everybirdie! Tonight we will be making a shredder toy that looks like a cupcake. You will need,

- A treat cup
- Cupcake papers
- Beads
- Safe stringing material

Start by taking your string and knotting the bottom. Take your treat cup, poke a hole in the bottom, and string that on facing up. Now take beads, and string them on until you have beads almost to the top of the cup. Take your cupcake papers, and cut the sides into strips and poke holes in the middle. Now we are going to be making a puff on top. String on a paper facing down, then one facing up, then one facing down, and so on until you have a puff that looks like frosting. Now take some beads, string them on, and top it off with a bigger red bead. Tie a loop, and you're done!

When mom starting making this toy tonight, it was supposed to turn out like a bowl of ice cream. But she thought it looked a lot more like a cupcake and left it that way. There is a picture in my gallery!

Thanks for voting for me!

Hugs,
Grey Bird

Heya, Miss Jenny and Dad and Flock!
What an awesome picture of you!!! Aunt Denise just knows how to capture you and Cannonade perfectly!

Glad your Dad's numbers were superb! And Mom says that once you go in the hospital, and then rehab, you will kiss some of your privacy goodbye until you are all better (or the insurance won't cover it).

Too funny--when Mom took me last week to my new vet, they gave her an Avian Care booklet. She finally got around to reading it. And guess what? For protein, they said chicken, beef, fish are good for us. FINALLY! Somebody finally realized that we are carnivores! I love flounder, by the way. Yummy stuff!

It was 39 when Mom got up this morning, and it got to 40. But it was lots cooler feeling. Mom decided to stay in today. I did not complain at all, either! She put together her documentation of the problems with the changes to the website she was working on and sent it off to her hairdresser's husband. Mom says it is scary that people who do not understand the web are trying to set up something that they don't understand and don't know that they don't understand it. Silly!

Wing hugs coming your way!

  Hi Jenny Lynn
Think we got off track with you somehow so peeking in to say hi tonight and hope all is well!!
Mom didn’t have a very good day yesterday. She decided to go to the fruit stand after washing up the sheets and hanging them out and some house cleaning. Well her wallet was missing. Mom called Giant Eagle since that is where she used it last. They didn’t have it. Then she tore the car apart inside and the trunk and no wallet. She started calling to cancel her cards and get new ones then. She looked in the car again and all the rooms in the house. Then she had to go to the bank so she stopped at the fruit stand and got a few things too. She came home and took the sheets off the line and put stuff away and looked some more. She got supper and did dishes and cleaned up and then started to clean my condo and play gym. Then it hit her!! Yep she took her wallet along to vote and left it in dads truck. She ran out to get it and there it was. Now she has to wait on all the new cards to come and then do what she has to do with them too. Wow what a day. Mom looked pretty tired tonight. “A memory last forever never does it die. True friends stay together and never say goodbye.” Your friend, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Jenny
It is so weird! BC is letting me log on to some birdy's pages and not others. Obviously you are one of the good ones, but I can't get on Sugar's page, Pearl & Silver or Grey Bird so far. Hope to be able to correct that later.

Well, Mom's trip to the gym yesterday was a total bust! She went in, said hi to Becky, and went over to the arm bike to warm up her shoulders. She usually does 6-10 minutes on there, but after 3 minutes she was dizzy. She went back up to the front desk, and Becky and Lindsey (the gym ops mgr) took one look at her and said "go home you look way too pale and weak". So maybe tomorrow, but if she does there still won't be any zumba for a while.

Meanwhile today Mom did go and get her arthritis massage. Mattea concentrated on Mom's back over her lungs to help break up the congestion. And Mom's shoulders were really tight, so she worked on that and the sinuses. Mom felt lots better by the time she left.

When she got home she fixed a roast beef and provolone wrap for our lunch. It would have been perfect if she had just left off that nasty spinach! Needless to say I ate RB and spit the spinach on Mom's shoulder. Hey! Maybe it will help with those tight muscles!

  Hello Jen~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! I can't believe I'm BOTD! I am so excited and so grateful to all my friends here. It is still such an honor to be picked from all the awesome birds here to have a day in the spotlight!
We have had a crazy morning already! It was pretty loud last night since they were paving the road across the street. Who knew that paving included pounding? I didn't! It was the stream roller I guess! Mom cranked the radio up but you could still feel a bit of shaking. I squawked a few times and Merlin spent most of the night in the window watching it all! McKenzie slept through it all!! They were done by 4 am but I think I'll be grabbing a nap later!
We have a wetland that runs the length of the complex. It is fenced in but it's just a plank fence and not totally to the ground. When mom was walking McKenzie this morning, McKenzie stuck her head under the fence that encloses the wetland and pulled out a Mole! Thank goodness mom has been working on "drop" with her because when mom screamed, she dropped it! The poor thing was flailing around and so scared! McKenzie knew she had done something bad cause she flattened out on the walkway and looked guiltily at mom!
Mom locked McKenzie in the car and grabbed the car towel. She picked up the little Mole and checked him out. Thankfully he wasn't hurt! He kept flailing and growled at mom! Mom crawled against the fence and found his hole and set him down there. He dug a little and then popped back down in the hole. Mom told McKenzie that there will be no hunting allowed! We read later on that coyotes dig up moles for food. Dad thinks any kind of dog would do it and that is probably true. Obviously there will be no more walking anywhere near the fence! I don't think moms heart could take another incident like that!hahahahaha She was so scared that McKenzie had killed it.
I didn't know you were riding this year! YAY!! That is one fine looking horse!!
Come on over to the castle today! Mikey and Kacey have had Lizzy and Chipper prepare a wonderful luncheon for us! I can't wait to see you!!!
Enjoy your day and please give dad our love. Big hugs to you all!
Love you ~ Sugar ♥

  Hi Jenny Lynn
I bet dad was exhausted after all those visitors yesterday. Hopefully his numbers were all good, the house got cleaned, and the PT people didn't wear him completely out.
I had another visit with Dr. Pleban yesterday afternoon, and she says I'm healing quite nicely. All my meds are done, and she said I don't need any more. I have several feathers growing in, the scab on the inside of my leg is gone, and the big one on the outside is looking good. She says everything is moving right along. She left my little turtleneck collar on, and wants to see me next week. She made the appointment, to make sure her staff knows that when she says one week, that's what she means.
My appointment yesterday was at 3:30, which put us in the middle of rush hour traffic again, but mom chose a different route home, so the trip home only took 40 minutes, not 80 like last week. Next week my appointment is 2:40, so we shouldn't hit any traffic there or back except for school buses.
Today it's raining hard out there, but of course the dogs still wanted a walk. It's funny, because they hide under the overhang on the deck when mom puts them out in the rain, but they'll walk on leads right out in the rain! Mom got wet, too, even though she was carrying an umbrella. It's a spring rain, though, so it will be good for the flowers. Temps are mid 50s, it feels like.
Mom is getting that laser treatment on her eyes today, we think. She doesn't know if he'll do both eyes today or not, but we're kind of hoping he does, just to get it over with.
I hope you are having a good day, getting lots of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi, Jenny Lynn
That is good to have the visiting nurse and the home keeper so know your dad's progress and less heavy stuff for him to do. The physical therapy will help so long as they take it easy and don't try to do too much too fast.

Got a tad bit of rain in our area. Morning was cloudy and windy but sunny by afternoon. Places north of us got more so that was okay with us.

It's Thursday already and that means pretty soon drama club will be over - today after school is dress rehearsal - that means they stay till they finish - usually between 6 and 6:30 . . . sigh - another late night :( At least mom's mouth is starting to feel better - yesterday she had an apple ! Of course it took almost 20 minutes to eat cause she had to cut it into small pieces . . . boy I could have finished it off in a quarter of that time ! I can't wait to see what she tries today ! It'll take a whole day to eat breakfast at this point ! sheeesh !

So how did uncle Chuck make out with all those humans coming and going yesterday ? That's wonderful that he has so much help - we wish we lived close then I'd send mom to come too ! And I would hide in her bag ! ! ! I am a really good helper :)

The sun is back and the weather yesterday was really nice so I got to watch out the window and yell to the wild birds and squirrels and school buses ! More of the same today - love Cookie

  Hi Jenny Lynn!
Hi Everybirdie! I am so sorry for not blogging yesterday. Mom had a very bad headache and couldn't keep her eyes open. But, I am happy to report that when she woke up this morning she felt just fine! To make up for not blogging last night, we will be making two toys tonight. For the first toy you will need,

- Cupcake papers (for small/medium birds) or mini cupcake papers (for extra small birds) or coffee filters (for large birds)
- Beads
- Safe stringing material

Take your string and tie a knot at the bottom. String on a bead, and take 3-4 cupcake papers or coffee filters, poke holes in the center, and string them on. String on another bead, and then more papers. Keep stringing on the beads and papers until it reaches your desired size. Then finish off by stringing a bead on top, and tying a loop.

For the next toy you will need,

- Wood (what ever size and type is right for your bird)
- Beads
- Safe stringing material
- OPTIONAL: a bell

Take your string and tie a knot at the bottom. If you are using a bell, tie the knot on the bell. String on a piece of wood, then a bead, then another piece of wood, then another bead, and so on until it reaches the desired size. Finished it off by adding a bead to the top and tying a loop.

Both of these are very simple, but fun to play with! The wooden toy was made for Paris using balsa, and the cupcake paper toy will be for one of the conures. There are pictures of both toys in my gallery. (Mom apologizes for the hideous colors of the cupcake paper toy. She had no pretty colors!)

Thank you so much for voting for me!

Hugs,
Grey Bird

  Hi Jenny Lynn
mom limped down and picked up the last bag of leaves on hillside 2. then she had to buy a sheppards hook because when dad cut down the blue spruce last fall mom had moved a birdhouse from it to where she always hangs the hummingbird feeder. birds have made a nest in the bird house so mom had to hang the hummingbird feeder in new spot. after getting it in the ground and then getting the hummingbird feeder hung up a branch from the shrub smacked mom in the eye. mom didn't pay much attention at the time but now it is seeping and itchy and quite sickening. mom is loading both eyes up with eye drops and hopes it will feel better tomorrow.tomorrow she has to drive dad to have more intensive testing done on his eyeballs and he won't be able to see afterwards and its 35 mies away.
