 Mama found me at the pet store but was scared of me until the lady got me out of the cage and put me on her hand. She fell in love and wanted me sooo bad but someone else had put a down payment on me. Mama would visit me every other day and hold me all she could. Finally the petstore owner Siev told her the other person was taking too long to pay anymore and come and get me and that I was available to be bought Well You can guess what happened.. |

In Honor of Samanya
As a way to commemorate of our bird friends whom we've had to say good bye to here on the Bird Channel, a special section is being prepared on The Calendar Page as a memorial to their passing. Hello dear friend! Yes this is a copy/paste email but it is the only way I can catch up on months of blogs that I have neglected. First of all, let me say HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope your entire flock receives happiness, health and love this year and for many to follow. An update on the latest happenings: First, my fister Peachy has been sick. We don’t know what is wrong with her. The vet though it was a respiratory infection, but after two weeks on antibiotics and mommy keeping a heating pad under a towel in her cage, she’s not getting better. The thing is, she’s not getting worse either. She’s still eating, drinking, perching and preening. But she moves around like a drunken sailor and sleeps a lot. Mom thinks maybe she had the equivalent of a birdie stroke because it seems her motor skills have diminished. Or maybe her eyesight. But she seems happy when mom gives her treats and we’re making her as comfortable as possible. On to another bit of news, I’m getting a bird room! My oldest-skin sister is spreading her wings and moving out. That means….PEACHY AND I GET OUR OWN ROOM! Woo-hoo! I’ll miss her giving me treats and letting me out but mom says she’s not far away and will visit often. This weekend is the big move, then mom is having a solid wood door and double-paned windows installed in the room. I got to pick out the paint color…it’s called “Summer Ivy.” Then a few decorations and Peach and I can rock out! At least I hope Peach is better by then. I’ve also heard mom and dad talking about a new flock member, but not for a few months. Mom wants to get me acclimated to my new digs, make sure Peachy is on the road to recovery, and then there was mention of some kind of sound-proofing do-da thing. Sound-proofing? I’m assuming so that when it’s nighty-night time, the noise from the living room doesn’t bother me. I just hope it doesn’t diminish my 6 a.m. rise-and-shine call. I wonder if mom thought about that? I’m SURE she wants two conures screaming at the top of their lungs to ensure she wakes up before the crack of dawn…especially on weekends. It would be a pity to waste a day off sleeping in! With that said, because my cage is going into the new room, I got a fun play stand that will go out in the living room. Granted I’m usually clinging to mom, but for those moments when I allow her to leave my side, I’ll still have plenty to entertain me…for about 5 minutes anyway. I posted pics of me on my new stand on my page if you want to take a peek. Finally, we’re looking forward to the bird show in a couple weeks. Some of my BC Aunties are driving to Orlando for the show and I hope I get to see them. I love my aunties very, very much (even if it takes the entire visit for me to warm up to them). Hehehe That’s the update for now…but PLEASE write back and tell me how your flock is doing. I’m so out of the latest gossip and am interested in what’s been going on. Happy Thanksgiving!
The Dragon Cave was filled with the sound of many happy birdies, awaiting the feast that Lizzie hosted for everyone. There was the tradiitonal fare, of course: Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce (made with Lizzie's own recipe), corn, carrots, fresh sugar snap peas, green been casserole and steamed green beans...pumpkin and sweet potato pies. Lizzie also added a few of her specialties: sweet potato fries, double cheddar macaroni, grilled tomatoes with parmesan cheese, and fresh spinach salad with almond bacon dressing. For beverages, Lizzie brought out her own vintage papaya mango wine, and fresh pineapple papaya spritzers.
As Lizzie surveyed the tables she realized that she left the homemade rolls in the oven...and she dashed off to the kitchen. Kaji came towards her with a huge tray of rolls, still steaming from the oven. Lizzie gave Kaji a kiss on the cheek and took the tray to her waiting guests.
The dining hall became quiet as Lizzie tapped on her glass for quiet.
"What makes me the most thankful for this Thanksgiving Day, is the gathering of so many of my fine friends to share a meal and each others' company. I am so happy to see everyone here, and to those who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge, they are joining us today for this fine feast as well" Lizzie lifts her glass of wine towards an opening in the wall of the cave that is glowing with a warm light. In the opening are all of the great friends who have flown over the Rainbow Bridge. They are watching Lizzie, and a murmur goes through the crowd, as every birdie can see them! Serving the others is none other than Turk, complete with his chef's hat. All the birdies are waving at their friends below. "Thank you everyone for coming!!" Lizzie continues "Let's eat!!!"

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a good Halloween. We did but boy was it cold. Mom bought lots and lots of candy and we only had a few kids show up. Mom was kinda disappointed. Mom has not been feeling very good. She is so tired all the time. We are hardly on the computer anymore. Yesterday Mom fell down the stairs she's OK didn't get hurt or break anything but she is very sore. We told Mom to change our picture its still our Halloween picture. Wow! You sure are lucky, getting a new toy and all. I bet you have torn it up by now, haven't you? Sounds like a nice store that your mom goes to. We have a nice store here to, called Bird Paradise. It is HUGE! It has any kind of toy a birdie could want.. I love it when mama takes me there. I only been there a few times, cause I'm still a young guy, but I loved it!! Except the nail/wing trimming thing. Today is halloween scary time. Mom says we never get any trick or treaters, and for that she is glad because she dont want us to be scared. So, it sounds like you are adjusting back into skin family life very good. I am so happy for you, and your mom. She must be so happy to have you like being with the skins again. My very favorite toy in the whole world is a wood ball about two inches in diameter with rope through the middle, sticking out about 2 inches on either side. I have yet to destroy the wood, but mom thinks I think it is another bird because i have wrestling matches with it. Then I get the rope in my beak and shake it and bang it on the floor. Then, i wrestle some more with it -- for hours.
Glad you are enjoying your new toy.
We have Pretty Pita on our minds and in our prayers also.

Sweetheart here. Your avatar is so pretty and heartwarming with your dear sweet Anya there with her angel wings and halo. It made my mom want to cry and now Pita is getting operated on. I hope all turns out well for her. So I hear all of your flock have gotten new toys and they are trying to destroy the leather thing. I love anything with leather strips and beads, those suckers are so easy to break. Those toys sound pretty cool. I like a toy I can beat up on. Mom usually gets me the shreddable ones, because I like those best. However they sure don't last very long. We have a feed store, but it doesn't carry bird toys. The pet store is expensive, but at least there is no shipping and you can see the toy before you buy it. I don't like toys that are bigger than I am.
I sure hope you and your flock can drop by the party tomorrow night. I know everybirdy would love to see you.

It sounds like you are starting to adjust to life as a bachelor. I think your mom is doing all the right things. My mom sure wishes I liked baths as much as you do. I refuse to go in the shower, and the only way she can bathe me is to hold me in her hand under a gentle faucet. I do OK with that, though I really don't like it. I prefer bathing in my water bowl, but the vet says that isn't good enough. I ask you, what does she know?
Do you think you would feel like coming to the party on Friday night? You guys used to come to all the parties. I think your flock would have a good time.
