 Mommy drove all the way from western Minnesota to Chicago to pick me up from a private breeder. She had a friend who needed a bird sitter, and though she has always LOVED animals, she'd never taken care of a bird before, but after a couple weeks with DJ, she absolutely fell in love and had to get one of her own! I went to live with my mommy when I was only 12 weeks old, and it's been wonderful!! Hatch Day: July 8th, 2007********

UPDATE: (2/10/2010) Wow!! Zebers here blogging for my frother Huey. First off, mommy wants to apologize for making you wait for so long for news, but she just got home about an hour ago from being with Huey. But here's the news: the surgery went 100x better than mommy ever dreamed!! Huey is doing GREAT!! He's still at the hospital and mommy says his leg is really swollen and he's on a lot of pain meds, but the vet got the bones to line up PERFECTLY! Even with it so swollen his leg already looks straighter! The vet was able to pin it and then put some stuff on the pins to make it hard so that it can't move. Mommy got to stay for the whole surgery and she even took bunches of pictures (don't worry, she won't put the bloody ones on BC! Tehehe!) Mommy got to stay with him all day until the clinic closed (which is why this blog is so late tonight!) and she was really happy about that. We just feel like this was the absolute best outcome that we could have. He did so great and was such a trooper! Doctor Melissa put some essential oils in the room tonight to help him sleep, and she'll get up to give him more pain medicine at night and then mommy can go and pick him up tomorrow afternoon! Mommy said he was pretty groggy and a bit silly in the head from all the pain medicine, but he wanted to be sure that I tell you all that he loves you very much and he could feel all of your thoughts and prayers, even while he was under during the surgery. It means the world to us that our BC family is there behind us 100%...thank you all so very much! I'll be back to update tomorrow night after Huey gets home! Oh! I am a Sun Conure from Prinsburg, MN.
 well, I mostly go by "Baby Bird" or "Little Love"...kinda corny I know, but my mommy just really loves me! I'm sure you understand! Now as I'm getting older though the term "dork butt" has been coming out more lately.. .wouldn't that be a fun one for me to learn to say!! My newest nickname is Huey Baduey.

mashed potatoes!! oranges, lemons, almonds, dried pineapple, popcorn, green peppers, and carrots
 My number one favorite place has got to be on my mommy's head :) Otherwise, anywhere she is at...on the shower door, on top of the medicine cabinet...you name it. I also have a great jungle gym that mommy's little brother made for me that I love to climb on
 having my wings touched...I hate it! I'm also not real fond of when mommy works the late shifts or overnights (She works in the ER at the hospital), mainly because I hate being awakened after 9pm. She tries to be quiet I know, but sometimes I poke my head out of my happy hut and "hiss" at her when she walks by the cage!
 She LOVES to play with me! We have the best time together, even though I often don't understand what she is trying to teach me, she's very patient until I get it. I love it that she will wear her heavy winter robe, even when she is really hot, so that I can cuddle on her shoulder underneath it and sleep. Even though she wakes me up late in the night sometimes, she does her best to let me sleep and then she will still get up early so that we can have some time together!
 I love to "preen" my mommy's hair...especial- ly when it is wet. I also like to join Mommy in the shower to play in the spray. Anytime she is walking around the house in her fluffy, soft, pink robe, I like to get underneath it and snuggle on Mom's shoulder and fall asleep. And you know what's really fun? Helping Mommy type on the computer when she is trying to do her homework or leave blogs on BC! I love walking all over and pecking at the keys :).
 Morning is never morning until you let out a couple of good screams to welcome the sun.
UPDATE!!!: As many of you may already know, I broke my leg in November of 2008. Mommy came home from her overnight shift at work and found me all puffed up and bleeding just a little. We don't know for sure what happened, but the vet who looked at the x-rays said it looked like I may have gotten my foot stuck in the cage bars or a toy or something. Anyway, they splinted it and left it for about 5 weeks or so. (remember I was a pirate for Halloween? Tehehe!) Well, when they splinted it, my toe got in the wrong place so it left it really crooked so I can't perch very well. (Mommy put a couple pictures down below) So mommy found a vet who specializes in avian orthopedics (that's a BIG word!) to see if she could straighten my toe and we found out that my leg is STILL BROKEN! No wonder it still hurt!! I just didn't want to complain to mommy and make her worry. So the vet wants to try and splint it, but they have to do it surgically. She said that if we left it, they would have to amputate it in a few years and it will hurt me the whole time up until then. So Mommy and I decided to let her try and splint the bone. The worst that can happen is the bone would shatter and they would have to amputate anyway. But there's a very good chance of success and then I won't be hurting anymore! And the best part of all...I'll be able to hold a peanut again! WooHoo! So anyway, my surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 10th at 10 in the morning. I have to stay at the hospital overnight, but Zebers promised to be blogging for me during the time I'm recovering, so you all will know what is going on!.

Seeing you as our Bird of the Day reminds me of all the fantastically fun times you and me use t'have together talkin' and jokin' and carryin' on like a couple of crazy parrots. I went out in the snow the other day and of course thought of you and your snow pictures. Those are some of the first I ever saw of you.

Thanks for the fond memories, Huey. And believe me, there a LOT of'm. You used t'make me laugh like crazy with stories of your antics. You were one of my first BC friends, way back then. Sometimes it hits me hard that you're not with your mom anymore and I suddenly feel my heart hurt all over again. It wasn't supposed t'turn out this way, Huey. You were gonna make it after all you'd pulled yourself through.
Sure wish you had.
