My mom wanted a bird that would love her and not bite her. My mom did research on http://www. parrot-and-conu- re-world.com and others sites and decided she liked the Jardine's. She called Ramona's Parrots in Waco Texas and found out that she had this Jardine's. Mom went every week until she was weaned and held her for about 45 minutes. She was weaned in about 3 months and so mom brought her home. She is the sweetest, cuddliest bird! But we know she may not always be this way. For now she will let anyone hold her. All of mom's 9 grand kids hold her and love on her..

Hi! My name is Jardi

I am a Jardine's Parrot from Ross, TX.

Sweet Baby, Miss Jardi

8 years old   F

Jardine's Parrot

Harrison's Power Treats, and just about anything healthy my human pet eats. I like her to share.

I want to be on any body's chest snuggled up under their chin. I also like my rope orbs.

Don't lock me in that cage! I will pace the cage and try to find my way out.

My human pet stays home with me all the time and spoils me rotten. She loves to cuddle me and feed me really great food.

When I drop my morning bomb, I make a high pitched noise that sounds like a real bomb falling. My human pet really gets a kick out of it. She didn't teach that either. I have just always done that..

Visit http://www. parrot-and-conu- re-world.com to share your stories and research parrots. You will help a bird from being re-homed. Also visit the ParrotFlock Yahoo Group and meet really nice people..

  Hello!
My name is Ces Erdman and I am a huge bird dork! At the moment there is not a Bird Club in Wilmington, NC. So, I decided to start one myself! Come to find out, there are a lot of bird lovers in the Wilmington area and no where to express our interests. In the beginning this site will be a way to communicate with other bird lovers, ask questions, find birds to adopt, read interesting articles, share bird links, find bird sites, and of course share pics of our babies! Maybe as interest grows, we will be able to start a real Wimington NC Bird Club. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Please visit the new site at myspace.com/wncbc or e mail me at www.wilmingtonncbirdclub@hotmail.com

Come visit me, Moulin Rouge, Bo & Riki.

  Hi Jardi!
Hello friend. How's you week passing by? I hope it's going by well. It's been sprinkling every now and then here. And our mama has to quiet us down every second because her family is still sleeping. I guess we are kinda TOO loud. When everyone wakes up, we'll sing to our loudest though! Here's a vote and LOBH, Sunshine, Sparkle, and Snowy.

  Hi Jardi
That would be funny to hear you drop your morning bomb! My grandma has a green cheeked conure named Alex, he's on bird channel too! we chose him for her for the same reason your mom chose you, no biting and likes to cuddle. Grandma loved my Red bellied but once in a while he bites and if he does its very hard. We will have to check out that web site that you mentioned. Tell your mom that we would love to see more pictures of you! Also do you talk?

Come visit me, Sierra & Sam.

Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at www.1luckybird.com

Come visit me, Tweety, Frosty and Ringo.

  Jardi's behavior and update
Well, Jardi is starting to get some of her orange feathers. She has one on her neck and one on her forehead. She also has started to fly/flutter away when anyone but my mom trys to get her off her stand. She bit my daughter when she thought she was going to get her off the stand.

No, I wouldn't label Sage as a biter. He's just very moody. Fortunately those moods are easy to read, and therefore avoid being bitten. He's not a cuddly bird, but is still sweet much of the time.

Come visit me, Guthrie, Jude, Sage, Beedie & Ophelia.

Hi Jardi you are cute too. :) Thanks for the visit. That is a great way to know a bird to visit and feed before bringing home.

In response to the blog entry on Neechi's site...
My bird is nice. ALL birds go through a nippy faze and Neechi has gone, and going through one. He has never drawn blood. He has a "game" he plays and was taught by the non bird people in the house. He will make like he is going to step up, and then slams his beak down like he is gonne bite. However, never actualy bites, but the tip of a birds beak is still painful. I have learned to read him, and he is learning that that game is not acceptable. All birds will bite if they get the reaction desired. I know it is easier said than done, but if you play it bland and give a firm "NO", they get the hint. All I can say about the J is be steady but firm during the terible twos and the horrible threes. Thank God Neechi will be 4 soon. He is more pleasant than onery, but he likes the reactions he gets when he is onery.

Come visit me, Neechi.

I understand and KNOW that birds change as they grow up. My mom is in denial that the bird might become a different bird. My family is prepared to take Miss Jardi home with us when my mom either can't or won't take care of her.

I must say, I know someone with 3 Jardine's, two of them rescues, and they are not biters. Many times it really does depend on the respect and "space" the care giver gives the bird, along with firm handling practices.

Come visit me, Widget, Coco, Buddy & Jardi.

Jardi sounds like a sweet little baby bird. I hope your mom realizes that maturity will eventually come, and bites will most likely happen. It's how things work with birds, so putting a stipulation like "no biting" is not an option in the bird world. Our Moluccan Cockatoo was a sweet little baby bird for the first couple of years. She is now 9yo and began biting/attacking between age 2-3yo. We love her, so we are dedicated and did a lot of research to help make her life in captivity as good as we could. There are many things that can be done (and avoided) to prepare for hormonal behavior. Don't limit yourself to only one place for your information. secondchancebirds.com

Haha, yeah, my Jardine's was a real sweetheart when he was a baby, too! I emphasise WAS.. I adore him despite his moodiness, though:) I hardly ever run across anyone else with a Jardine's, so many people have never heard of them. Sage makes the "bomb" sound when he goes, too. Hilarious. He also makes really exaggerated groans and sighs when he stretches.

Come visit me, Guthrie, Jude, Sage, Beedie & Ophelia.
