 We went into the store to simply check out hamsters to see if they would be compatible with our 6 year old daughter. The girl who works there, showed us to the bird room, where Flycka was hanging upside down from the top of her cage. The girl brought her out and I (Mom) held her and Flycka bonded instantly with me. It was love at first sight.. |

What's up with this....1st day of Spring and we have a winter storm...oh well, it's pretty! I've been busy training my Rotty and Labby...see the pics...everything's going quite well. I use the new "cork-approach"....don't listen to me and I chuck the cork at ya! It's got the squirrels paying attention. They come around to visit all the time...they're cool! HI FROM YOUR FRIEND POGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please listen to Pogo's story in hopes that you will learn some lifesaving info. One day, Pogo was sitting on top of his cage. He was sitting up there on the door, and we thought it was so cute he could sit up there for a while. Well, around 5 minutes later, we saw that he had chewed off a piece of metal that holds the top together. We were worried, but we would have never DREAMED it was LEAD of all things! We started giving him bird charcoal, Ornabac, peanut butter, peanuts, and lots of calcium to try to get the lead to pass, because we heard that lead poisoning can be treated at home if the bird didn't eat much. A few days later I came home from a game and Pogo was falling off his perch. He was quickly going downhill. We rushed him to the only avian vet in the area (it was lucky that she was even in her office at 11:00 pm) and he was started on shots. We gave him 3 a day for 8 days and he also had to eat some other medicine. He had to be hand fed because he just didn't have the strength to eat pellets. He has almost fully recovered, but now his feet are curled up and he can't perch very well (he just balances). Sometimes he has occasional seizures, and we keep shots on hand just in case. PLEASE don't underestimate the power of lead or zinc, and if any bird gets poisoned, take them to the vet immediately! Curing them at home DOES NOT WORK! Please listen to this. woodstock here: as of tommorrow 3/10/08 (assuming beavis wins botw) I would like to run for BOTW. I'll tell you why--I have been on BC for 1 year, voted for or supported almost everybird of the week, faught for all sorts of bird causes and helped many birds on the channel with problems. my whole flock is behind me with this decision. please starting monday 3/10 vote for me everyday ending with sundays vote. you can either in the quick profile type-search by location- type in hewlett for town or type in woodstock in the search by name spot and find me about 3 birds down (i'm a female cockateil) thanks for your support......woodstock PS THATS COOL MOMMY REMEMBERS THE MOVIE.Come visit me, WOODSTOCK - #17248, JJ -#24973, HEDWIG & LEMON & LIME.
