Hi! My name is Jazz

I am a Masked Lovebird from Burnaby, BC.

Jazzy, Mr.Jazz, The King, Stealerbird (don't remember how I obtained that one, but it sorta stuck)

14 years old   M

Masked Lovebird

TREATS????? I love treats!!! Including, pickles, steak, chicken, whole wheat bread, rice, and noodles, roast beef, ham, chips and ice cream!!!

On my human, or in her shirt or jacket, also on my humans food bowl, or in my snuggly tent, or on Harmony's cage.

I don't like being left in my cage when everyone else is out, I also don't like it when my human won't give me any of her food.

She takes me lots of places, even school, and lets me out a lot. She also gives me lots of tasty food, and alone time and new toys!!!!!

Well, I'm not sure, but I DO love to hide in dark places!!!.

If you have food... I'll love you forever..

...good to see your face on BC my friend. I know, BC can take up a lot of time. Especially when there are toys to play with, paper to shred, and of course, always entertaining the parrots with our lovely vocals. :-) Keep in touch...we'll chat again soon! Hugs and a vote from Caymus.

  Hi Jazz!
Caymus here. Well it’s that time of year again when I really show my true colors and invite everybirdy our there to “go green” with me! Even my fister Peachy has gotten into the spirit…I mean, have YOU ever seen a green Canary? Rumor has it that I painted Sam the Grey green last year, so you better be careful or this year I may come after YOU! hehehe And of course, stay tuned for my “green ideas of the day” as well as some really neat quotes, and of course a silly joke or two. Earth Day is very important to our flock not just on April 22nd, but every single day of the year because as an old Cree Indian Proverb says, “only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught, will we realize we cannot eat money.”

Hey Jazz! How’s it flappin’? I just got back from Birdie Camp (mom’s fancy term for being boarded at the local bird shop). Mom and dad went away for a long weekend and this was my first time away from home, too (well, except for my romp around the neighborhood but that wasn’t even overnight). Since I’ve never been overnight anywhere, I was pretty scared that first day. But after I learned that the B&G in the next cage wasn’t going to eat me, I chilled out. The ladies taking care of us were really nice too and I charmed them with my cute little face so they would give me extra scritches. Mom also told them it was ok to let me have whatever treats or food I wanted because I’m hardly a picky eater and one of the girls gave me a piece of cooked macaroni! Yummy! Another camper was a Moluccan, and man, could he dance! I learned a new move from him…mom calls it my “walk like an Egyptian” move and hopes to get it on video real soon. The last birdie camper was a Grey. She made lots of cute noises but I haven’t shown mommy what I learned from her yet. I’ll wait till mom’s taking a nap so she can get the full effect. (hehehehe) I wonder what the other campers learned from me? Maybe one day soon they will return home as well and startle their parronts by screaming out “Caymus go poopy!” Mom thinks that would be a riot but I’m not so sure why she thinks that’s funny. After all, SHE’S the one that taught ME that! (grin) Well I do hope you are having a feather-tastic day…leaving big hugs and a vote!

  Hi Jazz!
Happy New Year! I know that Peachy and I have not been around much lately but that doesn’t mean we haven’t frequently thought about all our dear friends here on the BC. We just wanted to fly by today to say that we have not forgotten about you, miss you dearly, and promise to keep in touch in 2009. You’re friendship has meant a lot to us (and mommy, too) and we all wish you joy, peace and prosperity in the new year. Ok, have to leave you with a “joke of the day….” Question: Why can’t a chicken coop have more than 2 doors?………………………………………….Answer: Because if it had 4 doors it would be a chicken sedan! hehehehe! See ya next year!

  Hello!
My name is Ces Erdman and I am a huge bird dork! At the moment there is not a Bird Club in Wilmington, NC. So, I decided to start one myself! Come to find out, there are a lot of bird lovers in the Wilmington area and no where to express our interests. In the beginning this site will be a way to communicate with other bird lovers, ask questions, find birds to adopt, read interesting articles, share bird links, find bird sites, and of course share pics of our babies! Maybe as interest grows, we will be able to start a real Wimington NC Bird Club. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Please visit the new site at myspace.com/wncbc or e mail me at www.wilmingtonncbirdclub@hotmail.com

Come visit me, Moulin Rouge, Bo & Riki.

Hello Jazzy! Well it has been an interesting few weeks around here. My skin-sis just celebrated her 12th birthday and (I don’t know what my parrots were thinking) she had a sleepover with FIVE other girls. And mommy and daddy thought I was loud? Ha! A good time was had by all and only one girl went home with a tummy ache (pizza at 11 p.m. followed by chips, soda and a pickle…ugh!) and apparently dad has to repair my sis’ bed. Hey, I understand…sometimes I chew off the loops that hold my happy hut to the bar clips and mommy has to sew them back on. (grin) Dad’s two sisters also came to visit and I got to sleep in mom and dad’s room just incase I felt like imitating an alarm clock in the early morning. But even daddy said I was on my best behavior and when everyone left on Monday, mom fixed me a special plate with brown rice, chicken, green beans and grapes! Sunday mom is going to the bird show and I can’t wait to see what she brings back (feathers crossed for a Pak-o-bird). So what’s new with you? BTW, if I think of any new jokes I'll be sure to tell ya. Hope all is well and I’m leaving you a HUMONGUS hug and a vote!

  HI Jazz
Nice to hear from you. I havent been on BC much lately. Mom is so busy with the two grandkids. Yes there are two of them now. The new one was born July 2 and its worse than the first one. I am banished to the upstairs every weekend when they are here. Mom says if I wouldnt try and bite them I could stay downstairs, but they need bit. This is my house not theirs and Mom is my mom not theirs. They have their own mom they should leave mine alone. I am glad that little Diego is gone so you dont have to share your mom with her anymore. I bet your mom misses her though because she had her a long time.Moms friend has about sixteen birds now. She is raising Nanday and Greencheek conures and maybe African Ringnecks. Mom is going to get a Nanday and a Greencheek baby. This is just awful because Pan and Molly are going to have babies someday also. I will never have alone time with Mom again. I guess I will just have to hang around with all my girlfriends but they cant take the place of Mom. Talk to you soon, Simon

  Hello my friend!
Caymus here...thanks so much for stopping by! It's ok if you don't get on the BC often. It's busy, busy, busy here too. I do have a joke of the day for ya: During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized. "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?" hehehe Mom said she would have chosen the bucket, too but that doesn't suprise me! (grin) Leaving big hugs and a vote.

  Happy July from Caymus!
Hello Jazz! Please excuse the “form” email but it is the only way I can catch everybirdy up on what’s been shakin’ without sounding like a broken record. Anyway, we’ve all been very busy with yet more projects around the house. Mom has permanently put my cage out on the back patio and (drum roll please) bought me a nice new (bigger..yippie!) cage for the living room. She got kind of tired of rolling me in and out of the house and my water dish splashing all over the place. I started a few conversations with the neighborhood Mockingbirds, but the Blue Jays and Cardinals are still scared of me. The Pelicans fly too high for me to talk to, and I HATE, HATE, HATE the stupid vultures that sometimes land of the neighbor’s roof. I’ll scream my head off if I see one of these buggers! I’m getting along well with my skin-sis while she’s on summer break. Some days she goes to camp but on days she is home I make sure she doesn’t sleep too late and get her up around 9-9:30am, which is pretty nice of me considering I’m a Conure and I love a good morning yell! On the other wing, she does give me a treat for letting her sleep in a bit and I’ve helped her clean out her room, which is her project for the summer. And if you can believe, she came up with that project all on her own without any instruction from our parronts! Let’s see…what else? Oh yes, the back patio…well you know the one I’m on is screened in. Well mom and dad decided they want to lay a brick patio on the outside of the screened room, too. So this weekend mom started tearing up the grass and she’s got about half of it done. Next she has to level and tramp down the existing dirt, then spread paver sand on top of that, and then finally she will have to put down each paver, one at a time, leveling it out and fitting in the next one. Daddy wanted to hire someone to do it, but mom’s got her frozen lemonade and her big umbrella all ready to go and told daddy she wants to design her own patio and if it takes all summer, that’s ok. Daddy just has to supply the materials and mom will do all the work. And I’ll supervise! hehehe Dad’s bettin’ she cries “uncle,” but if I know mom, she’ll complete the project to perfection. I’ll let you know how that turns out. Oh, and last thing…I heard a firecracker go off a few nights ago. Scared the bejesus out of me and I took cover in my happy-hut. Last night, however, it was no big deal. Sometimes the humans in my flock are louder than an entire fireworks display. (I’m sure my parronts would say the same about me.) So mom’s happy that I’m taking it all in stride and she won’t have to worry about me having a nervous break-down on the 4th of July. On that note, I’d like to leave you with my joke of the day…Q: “What would you get if you crossed the American national bird with Snoopy? A: A bald beagle! Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!!!!! Leaving big hugs and a vote…squawk at ya later!

Hey, Jazz! I have this song stuck in my head…mom was singing it when she left the house this morning: “I don’t wanna work…I wanna bang on me drum all day…” Sounds like she’s got a case of the “Fridays.” hehehe Not much going on here today. But I do have a Joke of the Day for ya! (hey, what was THAT groan for?) Here goes: A police officer sees a man driving around with a pickup truck full of penguins. He pulls the guy over and says, "You can't drive around with penguins in this town! Take them to the zoo immediately." The guy says okay, and drives away. The next day, the officer sees the guy still driving around with the truck full of penguins -- and they're all wearing sunglasses. He pulls the guy over and says, "I thought I told you to take these penguins to the zoo yesterday?" The guy replies, "I did. And they had so much fun, today I'm taking them to the beach!" Woo-hoo-hoo! Sunglasses, get it? Helllllooo? Is this thing on? Ok, well have a great weekend anyway; leaving big hugs and a vote!

Today mom gives me a bath with the spray bottle and then I get to wipe my face on her shirt, shake the water from my feathers onto her face, and soak up the rays while I dry off. Mom says I smell like a wet dog whenever I get a bath, and my skin-sis says I smell like a french fry. (???) Very odd humans! Leaving big hugs and a vote!

  HAPPY EARTH DAY FROM CAYMUS
Happy Earth Day, Jazz! Today is the day to celebrate our plant, do something positive to make it a better place, and to pass on that message to our future generations. Mom and I want to take this time to thank you for reading my “Green Ideas.” You know what the best part was? We have realized that all the BC parronts out there are the largest group of green-minded folks around! I mean, I send out an idea and I get tons of responses back that your flock is already doing these things! Now, I know there are a lot of really good people out there with an appreciation for nature and the will power to save our plant. But for everybirdy here to all have that same ideal? My theory is that us birdies have a special influence on our humans. That when they look in our eyes, they see compassion. When they see us fly, they know our hearts. And when they feel our feathers against their skin, they know that the trust we give them comes from a spirit within us all. I’m so honored to be a part of this BC family, and so my final “green idea of the day” is to BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER…WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

It’s a quiet day today…just hanging out listening to some Jimmy Buffet (hey, I’m a Florida bird…what do you expect?) and pulling apart what little remains of the toy daddy bought for me on Sunday. Mom should be home by the time I’m finish with that, and then it’s toy rotation time! (CAYMUS’ "GREEN IDEA OF THE DAY": If every American switched to receiving just one bill as an electronic statement instead of a paper one, the one-time savings would be 217,800,000 sheets—enough to completely blanket the island of Key West in a single layer of paper. 5 more days until Earth Day!)

‘Twas the Night Before Easter – By Caymus & Peachy
‘Twas the night before Easter, on a warm Florida night**And Caymus was snuggled in his hut out of sight.**Peachy was snoring, the cats on the couch,**Mom and dad in the bedroom; all was quiet in the house.**And while the Conure was dreaming about hard-boiled eggs**(Which he was soon to consume and get all over his head),**In the sky flew a birdy not many have seen**He was yellow and blue and orange and green.**He had all of the colors that we’ve come to know**When we look up in the sky and see a rainbow.**Purples and pinks, some teal and blue**And gold was his tail, leaving streaks where he flew.**Now we have heard stories about bunnies and such**Who leave hidden treasures from his basket’s clutch.**There are chocolate eggs from Cadbury and jelly beans galore;**There are sugary treats, Peeps, bubble gum, and more.**But high in the sky, flying over the trees,**Above all the rooftops and smooth like the breeze,**Came a birdy so beautiful no one could deny,**Delivering delights to all his friends who can fly.**He had a gray beak, and a little round belly,**And his favorite treat was raspberry jelly!**As he landed upon one particular home**He looked down in the windows to see if any lights were on.**Now there was no movement or sound from inside this space,**So down the air vent he went (because in Florida you don’t need a fireplace).**Now Caymus the Conure was on high alert this night**And said, “Squawk, who’s there? You gave me a fright!”**“Don’t fret now, my friend…I mean you no harm.**But I’ve just flown in for the birdy nut farm.**I’ve got peanuts, pistachios and cashews, all unsalted.**Walnuts and sunflower seeds, too,” then he took a deep breath and halted.**Caymus said, “So who are you then, and why are you here?”**And the stranger responded, “haven’t I made that quite clear?**I have come to bid you happy Easter wishes**To you and your flock, even the mice and the fishes.**Thank you so much for letting me stop by,**But I’ve got to move on and to the next house I must fly.”**And like that he was gone before Caymus could blink**And that Dusky was left saying, “I just saw the Easter Birdy, I think!”**So the story now goes at this special time in the Spring,**If you turn your head late at night and think you see a wing,**If you find extra treats inside of your cage,**You’ll know the Easter Birdy is real, and could even visit your BirdChannel page!**

  Hello from Caymus
Hi Jazz! I hope your having a bird-tastic day! While mommy and daddy were visiting family in Miami this past weekend, they went to Simbad’s Bird House (it’s on BIRD Road…get it?). She met three Hyacinth Macaws, a Palm Cockatoo and a beautiful and very rare Golden Conure. She really liked a cute little Rainbow Lory who would not leave her alone and would make little baby sounds whenever she would walk away from it’s cage. Heck, I even know mom’s a sucker for baby birdie sounds! Daddy was quite relieved when mommy left the store a good two hours later…he says it will be a couple years before she can bring home another bird because “the zoo is full.” But mommy and I are breaking him down, inch by inch, piece by piece…..wha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Well tomorrow is my 1st birthday and I can’t wait to see what surprises I’ll get! Mommy is even baking me a special cake that I can eat. I’m going to love it because everyone’s attention will be on ME, ME, ME! hehehe Here is a big birdie hug and vote for a great friend. Squawk at ya later!

  Hello from Cotton Ball
Hi Friends, I am experiencing my first snowfall today. I just watch out the window of course,....I also got to get out of the cage to play with visitors this afternoon. I love humans, my feathered mom and dad flit around the cage like wild birdies when Mommy comes to get me out for play time...I don't understand why they are afraid of her..She is so good to me..I get to ride on her shoulder...I am so glad to have you for a friend.. v4u...Cottonball

  Hi Jazz
I love my tent...as long as I am on top of it, lol. I never go inside. I love the bling, but I am not obsessed...like Harley is. He is obsessed by bling, especially mom's diamond ring. I don't bother that at all. I just love mom to give me scritches. V4U~~Xerxes

  Hi Jazz
Mom thinkks Anubis would be a really cool name. She should get a cute Lovie and name it that, 'cause daddy will be mad if mom got another fid just to name it that, hahaha. If you watch 300, Xerxes is the really cool dude with all the bling. Do you like Bling?~~Xerxes

  HI Jazz
NIce to talk to you again. Mom was having problems with this site. Everytime we would type something, it would dissapear, so we wernt on very much. I hear you still have Diego. Is she still in another room, or did she move into your room?My human sister who just had that nasty baby that I hate so bad, is going to have another one in June or July. Mom is so mad. Shes not the only one that is mad. Jamie moved in with babies Dad 2, then back home, Then with 2 again, Now with her first babies father. She was crying on the phone yesterday that she wants to come home again. Dad is sick of moving her all over the place. I hope she doesnt come back here. ONe of those baby creatures is more than enough. I dont think I could survive two of them. Its nice to hear from you again, talk to you soon, Simon

Come visit me, McCartney, Bonnie Molly, Zak, Gabby, SAMMY, Corona, Simon, Clyde Pan, ZaZu & Piper.

  Hi Jazz
I always come to mommy when she calls me...and I regurgitate on her. I am saying I love her, but she says I should not do that. If you watch that movie 300, Xerxes will be in it, and he is pretty cool. Mom loves Mythology. She thought about naming me Anubis. Maybe she should get another birdie to name Anubis, lol. Thanks for the Fly-by~~Xerxes
