Hello!
My name is Ces Erdman and I am a huge bird dork! At the moment there is not a Bird Club in Wilmington, NC. So, I decided to start one myself! Come to find out, there are a lot of bird lovers in the Wilmington area and no where to express our interests. In the beginning this site will be a way to communicate with other bird lovers, ask questions, find birds to adopt, read interesting articles, share bird links, find bird sites, and of course share pics of our babies! Hi Tiki, sorry this took so long but my mommy finally put up a new picture of my on my site and finally you can see what I look like all grown up. I can't believe she kept my baby pictures up so long. It is soooo embarrassing. Take a look and let me know if you think I totally look different. Hi Tiki, and Tiki's mom! The bird-human bond is definately a special one. I never knew how fantastic they were until 3 years ago. I got a condo, so felt I could finally have a pet, but I'm allergic to all the standard things. My boyfriend suggested I get a cockatiel (I'm not allergic to birds). I brought home two, and was just completely overwhelmed with how happy and cute they are. They're amazing creatures. I love them so much. Come visit me, Twig, Leaf & Shadowfax.

Tiki was so funny last night. She loves to get on my towel rings on the bathroom counter and look in the mirror. She's was taking her beak and touching it to the mirror and then turning her head in circles. Then I started talking to her and she was bobbing her head up and down and trying to say hello. That's the word we're currently working on. I'm just glad no one is there to video tape me and Tiki. I don't think she would look the funniest.

Hello Bird Friends,
I hope everyone is have a great time with their feathered friends. My Tiki is here by my side and we're enjoying this Saturday morning together. I was wondering if any of your birds have some of the same behavior as Tiki. She doesn't care for telephones - cell or land lines. Whenever I get a call, she hunches down fluffs out her feathers and then attacks the phone with a swift peck and then starts all over. She also displays a similar behavior towards the remote control.

We'd like to say hello to all our friends both human and feathered and hope you are enjoying this holiday weekend together as we have been.
I have to tell a story about what Tiki did yesterday. I was cooking for my family and so after reading the article in Bird Talk about burns decided it would be best to keep Tiki out of any potential harms way. I left her in her cage with the play top open. It's int he kitchen area, but not close enough to the cooking area for her to get into anything. She kept her wings about 1/4 extended with shivering them for me to pick her up all afternoon. She wanted in the middle of the cooking too.
After we all ate and the kitchen was being cleaned I was able to go take a bath and of course Tiki joined me. My son said "There's help out there for people like me" ha ha.
I'm blogging this morning with my little Tiki on my shoulder and she's happy to be back on it. By the way
Tiki is 1 year old today.

I read on another page that you were looking for a baby blue-crowned conure. The bird store we frequent has 3 baby blue crowns about 8-10 weeks old. I could give you the information if ya wanted it. I am in Virginia Beach VA. Blue Crowns are wonderful little birds, ours is a nut... a real clown and rediculously intelligent. Let me know. Tiki is probably a little clown too I would imagine...most conures are. Come visit me, Sully & Roxie.

Tiki personality continues to amaze me. She was on my chest last night as I was watching TV in my recliner and since the weather has been getting cold, I had on a long sleeve lounger. Tiki loves to get under a little blanket or towel on my chest and go to sleep. She was trying to go up my sleeve on my wrist last night. She loves to at least cover her head and upper wing area and then flip to her side. It's so cute with her little feet sticking out. Of course, I can't resist rubbing her tummy - which she loves.

Tiki's having a great weekend. She's had her extended flock around and some new friends too. She got some new mellet and some new chew bamboo to shred. Of course, she's had to be with her people flock more than the her cage.

We couldn't agree more. I can't believe how close a bond you can actually have with a bird. We have several other pets and Sunny is the only one that I feel is like a child to me. Of course I love all my furries and such but there is just something special about birds. I can't put my finger on it but he is just great. He is like a son to me. Come visit me, Sunny.

Today is a very rainy day and I'm at work missing my Tiki Bird. I changed her name once she was part of my family and named her Tiki after the Tiki Hut in Dinsey World. For those who haven't been there, it's a Polinesian hut with animated birds signing. It's very lively and they are signing about the Tiki Hut. So when I think of Tiki, I also remember the happy signing from Disney. Come visit me, Tiki.

I have to start by saying that owning a bird was the furtherest thing from my mind when I found my precious Tiki. Everyone that meets her agrees that she has such a wonderful personality. Very distinct and one of a kind. I found myself taking a bath last night, laughing to myself, with a wet bird on top of my head. Never could I have imagined doing this before I meet Tiki. She's the best companion. If I've had a hard day, it doesn't last once I get home. Tiki has a way of making me laugh no matter what. Just her warm enthusiasm when I get home makes me feel so loved. She's excited to see me as I am her. Come visit me, Tiki.
