  Hey Eddie!
Caymus with just a quick hello trying to catch up on my blogs. Hope all is well with you and your flock. It's been really hot here...high 90's with a heat index in the 100's. Mom only takes me onto the patio for a few minutes at a time, or for my spray baths. Hope it's not like this all summer! Big hugs and a vote coming your way...squawk at ch'ya soon!

  Hi Eddie!
Thanks for your last email about dandilions, but I don't know what those are? Mom says she use to see them in her lawn growing up in Colorado, but down here in Florida, there are none. Can you believe that? I think because it's so hot. We have every other kind of weed though and I hear mom muttering about them when I watch her from the patio pulling them out of her garden. hehehehe Sending big hugs and a vote your way!

Caymus here! Hey, how many fids are in your flock? It's more than just you and Wilson, correct? Mom loves to hang out her clothes in the Spring but can't in the summer because it's so humid here that it would take days for them to dry. And then with the afternoon rain, they'd get wet again! But we do buy locally grown fruits, veggies, eggs, etc. There is a local farmers market and especially the strawberries are DEE-LISH-US! (grin) For Earth Day tomorrow I'm asking all by BC buddies to do at least ONE thing that is green. Of course, most everybirdy here does more than one thing every day because we're all so environmentally concious, but tomorrow is especailly significant. Thanks Eddie...tossing a vote and hug your way!

  Hi Eddie!
If you’re taking a vacation with your parronts this year…or they going off without you (hmph!), then I’m here with Caymus’ “green idea of the day” just for you world travelers out there! 1) Touring a new city? No better way to see the sites either by walking or public transportation. When in Rome, they say. 2) If you must rent a car, rent a hybrid! 3) When dining out, eat “local”…if in Maine, have lobster. Trip to Washington? Try the salmon. No sense having a steak in Key West when you could be dining on Stone Crab and Key Lime Pie! 4) Same for where to dine…choose a local mom and pop establishment instead of the golden arches. Helps the local economy at the same time. 5) Stay at hotels that are adopting sustainable initiatives…and use those towels and linens more than one day please! 6) When it comes to souvenirs, buy something that was locally made. I’d rather have a painting from a local artist than a Grand Canyon snow globe made in China any day. Happy trails, and don’t forget to write! (hehehe)

  Hi Eddie!
Peachy here…helping Caymus with his Earth Day campaign. While Mr. Big Beak was chowin’ down on mom’s Easter dinner Sunday, I hopped on the ‘puter to do a little research. --Did you know that recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to watch TV for 3 hours? --Did you know that more than 20,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of tinfoil? All that foil is recyclable, but not many people realize it. --Did you know if every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year? Unfortunately only 27% of all American newspapers are recycled. --Did you know that each year, billions of used batteries are thrown away in the United States? This constitutes 88% of the mercury and 54% of the cadmium deposited into our landfills. --Did you know that approximately 5 million tons of oil produced in the world each year ends up in the ocean? And those humans complain about how messy us birdies are??? Ha! Even Caymus isn’t that dirty and he’s a WRECK! hehehe Singing a little Canary song as I press the vote button on your page!

Caymus here. Well it’s that time of year again when I really show my true colors and invite everybirdy our there to “go green” with me! Even my fister Peachy has gotten into the spirit…I mean, have YOU ever seen a green Canary? Rumor has it that I painted Sam the Grey green last year, so you better be careful or this year I may come after YOU! hehehe And of course, stay tuned for my “green ideas of the day” as well as some really neat quotes, and of course a silly joke or two. Earth Day is very important to our flock not just on April 22nd, but every single day of the year because as an old Cree Indian Proverb says, “only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught, will we realize we cannot eat money.”

  Hey Eddie...
Caymus here...well today mom is really excited today because she’s getting the Flip Video camera and that means she gets to take video of me now! But I don’t know, she mentioned how funny it would be to get me taking a bath and that’s sorta too personal to be posting on a website so she better be editing that. (grin) It’s getting cooler here and this weekend it’s actually supposed to be in the freezing temperatures! I can’t believe it…this past weekend it was in the 70’s and now mom will have to cover her flowerbeds. And daddy’s not happy because he wants to go fishing but the fish only bite right BEFORE a cold spell. Sounds like somedaddy might be playing hooky from work! hehehehe Well that’s the update for today…I gotta go throw my food on the floor because it’s way too clean down there. TTFN!

Hi Wilson & Eddie! So how is your 2009 going so far? I'm doing great. It's still been nice and warm down here so I've been able to spend time on the back patio during the day. And I also just met my cousin who came to visit from Boston...he's a year and a half and whenever I make the beeping noise the microwave makes, he makes the noise too! Isn't that neat how he learned to mimic me? (grin) heheha Those toddlers sure are bright...almost as much as us birdies. Well I hope you have a great week and I'll squawk at you soon!

Happy New Year! I know that Peachy and I have not been around much lately but that doesn’t mean we haven’t frequently thought about all our dear friends here on the BC. We just wanted to fly by today to say that we have not forgotten about you, miss you dearly, and promise to keep in touch in 2009. You’re friendship has meant a lot to us (and mommy, too) and we all wish you joy, peace and prosperity in the new year. Ok, have to leave you with a “joke of the day….” Question: Why can’t a chicken coop have more than 2 doors?………………………………………….Answer: Because if it had 4 doors it would be a chicken sedan! hehehehe! Eddie, was it YOU mom tried to put the flight suit on? I've never had one of those things even close to me so I don't know how I'd react. Went to a Bird Club meeting once with mom... the ceilings in the place were so high, with beams clear at the top, I couldn't be let out of my travel cage... I'm fully flighted this time of year. Mom thought about running to the front of the store and buying me a flight suit but she didn't figure anyone would be able to hear the speaker if I decided to complain about that tight thing choking me! Something tells me tho, that one of those things is in my future someday. I hope it's not too torturous to wear. I'll let you know. K *v*

Hey, Eddie! I have this song stuck in my head…mom was singing it when she left the house this morning: “I don’t wanna work…I wanna bang on me drum all day…” Sounds like she’s got a case of the “Fridays.” hehehe Not much going on here today. But I do have a Joke of the Day for ya! (hey, what was THAT groan for?) Here goes: A police officer sees a man driving around with a pickup truck full of penguins. He pulls the guy over and says, "You can't drive around with penguins in this town! Take them to the zoo immediately." The guy says okay, and drives away. The next day, the officer sees the guy still driving around with the truck full of penguins -- and they're all wearing sunglasses. He pulls the guy over and says, "I thought I told you to take these penguins to the zoo yesterday?" The guy replies, "I did. And they had so much fun, today I'm taking them to the beach!" Woo-hoo-hoo! Sunglasses, get it? Helllllooo? Is this thing on? Ok, well have a great weekend anyway; leaving big hugs and a vote!

  Hello from Caymus
Hey Eddie! Oh it’s been crazy around here and mom’s been so busy. Daddy is out of town on a business trip. My skin-sister seems to be working on some huge project for school. My cage has been moved to mom’s room because new countertops are being installed in the kitchen. And to top it all of, the ladies who clip my toenails are coming by tonight…eek! But of course I’m taking it all in stride and being a really good birdie. Mom even took me out once to the kitchen and I instructed those workers on how things should be done! They should be finished today, daddy comes home tomorrow, and mom says sis’ project BETTER be done by Friday. What a crazy flock I have…but I love ‘em anyway! Well here is a huge hug and a vote for you…chat with you soon!

  HAPPY EARTH DAY FROM CAYMUS
Happy Earth Day, Eddie! Today is the day to celebrate our plant, do something positive to make it a better place, and to pass on that message to our future generations. Mom and I want to take this time to thank you for reading my “Green Ideas.” You know what the best part was? We have realized that all the BC parronts out there are the largest group of green-minded folks around! I mean, I send out an idea and I get tons of responses back that your flock is already doing these things! Now, I know there are a lot of really good people out there with an appreciation for nature and the will power to save our plant. But for everybirdy here to all have that same ideal? My theory is that us birdies have a special influence on our humans. That when they look in our eyes, they see compassion. When they see us fly, they know our hearts. And when they feel our feathers against their skin, they know that the trust we give them comes from a spirit within us all. I’m so honored to be a part of this BC family, and so my final “green idea of the day” is to BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER…WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

Yes, Florida is beautiful but the heat can almost be unbearable for those who aren't use to it. Mom loves it, but my grandparronts moved down here 5 years ago and the heat still gets to them sometimes. Me, I'm ok because even if mom takes me outside, I get lots of squirts with the spray bottle...hehehe! Hope you have lots of fun playing this weekend. Big hugs and a vote.   ‘Twas the Night Before Easter – By Caymus & Peachy
‘Twas the night before Easter, on a warm Florida night**And Caymus was snuggled in his hut out of sight.**Peachy was snoring, the cats on the couch,**Mom and dad in the bedroom; all was quiet in the house.**And while the Conure was dreaming about hard-boiled eggs**(Which he was soon to consume and get all over his head),**In the sky flew a birdy not many have seen**He was yellow and blue and orange and green.**He had all of the colors that we’ve come to know**When we look up in the sky and see a rainbow.**Purples and pinks, some teal and blue**And gold was his tail, leaving streaks where he flew.**Now we have heard stories about bunnies and such**Who leave hidden treasures from his basket’s clutch.**There are chocolate eggs from Cadbury and jelly beans galore;**There are sugary treats, Peeps, bubble gum, and more.**But high in the sky, flying over the trees,**Above all the rooftops and smooth like the breeze,**Came a birdy so beautiful no one could deny,**Delivering delights to all his friends who can fly.**He had a gray beak, and a little round belly,**And his favorite treat was raspberry jelly!**As he landed upon one particular home**He looked down in the windows to see if any lights were on.**Now there was no movement or sound from inside this space,**So down the air vent he went (because in Florida you don’t need a fireplace).**Now Caymus the Conure was on high alert this night**And said, “Squawk, who’s there? You gave me a fright!”**“Don’t fret now, my friend…I mean you no harm.**But I’ve just flown in for the birdy nut farm.**I’ve got peanuts, pistachios and cashews, all unsalted.**Walnuts and sunflower seeds, too,” then he took a deep breath and halted.**Caymus said, “So who are you then, and why are you here?”**And the stranger responded, “haven’t I made that quite clear?**I have come to bid you happy Easter wishes**To you and your flock, even the mice and the fishes.**Thank you so much for letting me stop by,**But I’ve got to move on and to the next house I must fly.”**And like that he was gone before Caymus could blink**And that Dusky was left saying, “I just saw the Easter Birdy, I think!”**So the story now goes at this special time in the Spring,**If you turn your head late at night and think you see a wing,**If you find extra treats inside of your cage,**You’ll know the Easter Birdy is real, and could even visit your BirdChannel page!**
