 I was on a waiting list to purchase a White-Bellied Caique, after falling in love with one named Rio. I was called in May of 2001 and told that I could come up and pay for my new bird. They had two of them, and I was 2nd in line, so I would get whichever bird was not chosen. After I had arrived, I was told that the other women decided against purchasing a caique because of the cost. So, I had my pick of birds. It was a heart-wrenching decision, but after about 5 or 10 minutes, I picked the OTHER caique, Phoenix. For several weeks, I went up and visited and bonded with Phoenix (he was still being hand-fed, too), but I got the impression that he missed his old cage-mate, and brother, the caique I left behind. About three weeks in, everyone else on that waiting list had been called and said they were not interested in a caique at that time. I mentioned this at supper one night with my folks. They nonchalantly said, "So why don't you just buy the other one?" (I suppose it was a rhetorical question)...and the rest is history. Phoenix's brother Shanghai came home with him, and they have been happy, loud caiques ever since!!!. |

Glad to hear that you have your brother with you. Me; I have 3 dogs, and 2 cats that live in the house with me. And the dogs are always making sure I am ok. I am even starting to bark when the door bell rings. I think you are cute. Nice talking with you.Come visit me, Buddie & Esmerelda.
