English Budgies overfloweth!
Hey Girlfriend. Hope all is well with you. Here's the story I promised you and its all true. :) Happy Birthday to me! My husband took me to Jeff Hall in Ohio. He breeds and shows the largest English Budgies I have ever seen! His birds come from top breeders and show winners from Switzerland, England and United States. His birds are featured in the ABS magazines and he's won too many awards to list here. His aviary is wonderful! He's very serious and everything is sparkling clean and bright. He even has an outdoor flight that the birds just love. Imagine an outdoor flight in Ohio! Check out his new website at: http://jhall6rweb.com/default.aspx We came home with 7 birds at very reasonable prices and a library full of information and advice. What a great guy! Here's the list. The first are a bonded pair of first time breeders. The female is a grey green Spangle split to blue and looks like Angle Baby except for the body color. Her mate is a normal grey green. Three cocks: 2 grey greens and a light green normals. Another grey green hen and Taaa daaaa-drum roll please! A beautiful Cinnamon Violet hen! I can't believe the size on these beauties, deep masks, long full feathers, wide faces and they are all mine! Ok, ok, I'll calm down now. :)Whew! What a blessing. God loves me! :)The boys are almost ready for breeding age but my females need about 6 more months or so. Can't wait to get these genetics in my line! Oh...did I mention the two kittens too?...yea. Someone dropped them off so we brought them home. Jeff already has 3. :) We have homes for them if my big tough 16 yr old son will part with them. They stayed in his room last night because I don't want them out with the birds. He said he'd do me the favor....:) such a softie. What a great kid. He feeds babies for me when I take these day trips. So there you have it. We'll have lacewings and spangles, yellowface blues, whiteface cobalt blues and greens, sky blues, whites, cinnamons, dark eyed clear and creminos. Well, my friend. Its tough to be told bad news. Especially about the baby you've loved back to health. He had a great life with you. Imagine his fate without you and pray. I've seen God do some amazing things for the animals I love. Anyway, to your other questions: years of nursing on hard floors wore away the cartilage in my knees. Two herniated discs in the lower back as well. Fibromyalgia and stomach trouble makes taking meds difficult. The Osteo-BiFlex has postponed surgery for 3 years. I'm going to try hyaluronic injections before I agree to surgery. All is well. I never quit. I have my babies to care for even if the human ones are self sufficient now. :) BTW-I'm sure you're aware that double spangaline gene removes the markings. You need one normal and one spangaline to get 50% spangaline babies. I have such a pair of English Sky Blue budgies-pet quality though. They are on 4 eggs with at least two fertile right now. Are you familiar with this website? http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html Lots of genetics and info. Gotta read it all cause the above little nuggets are hidden. Really hope you feel better. How nice! A vet visit. Only my Suns would REALLY enjoy that, ok maybe Harvey the WB Caique because he gets dog biscuits when he goes. :) I'm sorry to hear that Angel has arthritis. I vote for more babies though. It helps me feel better when I have something I have to get up and do...like feeding and watering birds. :) We've made a BIG decision here. One of Jasmine's siblings is being adopted. Amazon Joe gets a cage-beside-girlfriend and #11 gets a great home. One less Sun Conure to play with but then again, we have 8. The new home will only have one Sun. I think its a good thing. I'm looking at knee replacement surgery in the near future. They don't let you sit much and I'll be up and at it the day of surgery. Super glue is amazing stuff. :) Once the surgical pain subsides I'll have no excuse not to walk and exercise anymore. My husband is suggesting weight loss.... :( bless 'em. Pray for me... Babies and Names
I have given them their nest box, and I do not now how long it will be, though when Ava had eggs last year her cere was not nearly this dark. I will keep thinking about name themes. Has anything really amazing happened recently that you could come up with names from? Okay, maybe this is a bad idea, looking at where you say they have been all shades of blue, what if you named them for unique colors. Like cerulean blue (not sure if I spelled that right). My birds are all okay, except for Yo-yo, for he cut his foot this morning. I put cornstarch on it and he now seems okay. Oh, and that is a very cool picture. None of Angel's eggs were good! We will have to try again next spring. She broke her leg right before she was due to start laying, and so by the time she was able to lay eggs, she couldn't lay good ones anymore. Eggs number one AND two were laid last night! They were connected, so they must have been twins. Poor Angel, no wonder she was so uncomfortable. Thanks! Well, egg number one is being laid right now (I think) so it won't be long till we find out what colours they will be this year... I have to come up with a theme for names. Last year was Narnia, with Bree, Puddleglum and ReepiCheep. Last year was Valentines Day, with Valentine, Daffodil and Miss Lilly, and before that was Christmas, with Holly, Ivy, Christmas Carol, Noel, Gabrielle, and Tiny Tim. I'm not sure what to go with this year. Lord of the Rings? Christmas again? Fantasy, because of Merlin's name? Medivalness? Angel is going to be a Momma! The inspection of the nestbox has begun... This will be her 3rd clutch. I wonder what colors will she and Merly produce this time? So far, they have had all Spangle or Spangaline, as well as Lutino, Dilute, and all shades of blue. And they have all been very sweet, and most are show quality. We shall see...
