 Dad continues to have health issues, but hopefully he is getting a little better all the time. If we could just keep him out of the hospital!!
Well, Dad went back to work on 9/9/11, and hopefully all the cancer is gone. Mom will miss him, but I can't wait to have my mom back all to myself! Less competition, if you know what I mean!
6/30/11 * Dad is finally home!! He is very happy to be home, but he sure is moving slowly. I could chase him, but it wouldn't be as much fun as when he could really move.
6/16/11 * Dad is still in the hospital, and he can't come home until his intestine starts working properly again. 6/8/11 * Dad's surgery went well. The doctors (4 of them!) who did the surgery feel certain they got all of the cancer, and that Dad will make a full recovery. 5/17 * Dad's confirmed for his surgery for 6/8. It is a 6 hr surgery, and he'll have to stay in the hospital for 1 wk-10 days. ******
4/7/11 * Dad has finished chemo and although the last treatment really took it out of him, he survived because he is a fighter. Next step CT Scans to see what the chemo accomplished then at the end of the month a meeting with docs to discuss surgery. Keep your toesies crossed!
1/25/11 * Dad goes to USC Cancer Center tomorrow to see if they can give him a better prognosis for his bladder cancer. Mom is hopeful, and Dad is determined to fight this thing. Please keep him in your prayers.
1/1/11 * This week will be the last week of radiation for Mom. Here's hoping this year is a healthy one.
10/9/10 * Mom's surgery went well, and she is home recuperating with me.

Kiddo flew into his now Dad's warehouse, but the owner of the company said he had to go OR ELSE! Finally after a week they managed to lure Kiddo down using a baloney sandwich as bait. After trying unsuccessfully to find his owners, he tried living for a few weeks with Dad's co-worker and her African Grey. That didn't work out (the grey was jealous and so was Kiddo, so he came to live with us. He was supposed to be his Dad's bird, but he bonded with me from day one, and now we are best friends. I love him dearly. Although I had never thought of having a bird as a companion, now I can't imagine life without him. The first thing I do each day is join him for breakfast and beaky kisses. We share our lives and love. What a joy he has brought to my life.. |

Mom and I cannot believe I am 9 years old already. I came to Mom when I was only a couple of months old and now I am a big boy and so independent. My entire flock lucked out because Mom cleaned all our cages outdoors and she gave every birdy a new toy, but I got TWO new toys and some treats. To make things better, I got BOTD. What more could a bird want. Spending a day in that Man Cave with King Jetta was something a bit different from the usual castle experience but it was loads of fun. Thanks so much for coming by to wish me a Happy Hatchday and to congratulate me on BOTD. I do hope you got a piece of the cake Lizzie baked - she is the best! Mom made cookies but they don't compare to the cake. Sorry Mom... giving Mom a kiss. DAY 20 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 1
Last year, in February 2012, my parents were discussing about my dad’s sister and his mom going to Lebanon to pay their sister insurance. My dad paid 1000$ every month to his sisters because his oldest sister had two grown children and their parents were divorced. In addition, the other sister who lived with them worked as a teacher and tried paying for the family. When I heard about it, I soon said I wanted to go to Lebanon too, to see my aunts, my cousin and family. My parents thought about it then, they decided that it would be my birthday present to go to Lebanon. I was glad but unfortunately I had to wait until end of March. I was usually impatient so I tried getting it out of my mind for a while. Then it was finally the day where me, my grandma and my aunt were heading to Lebanon. We sat at the airport where my dad worked, and went to a restaurant to have breakfast. Then it was time to say our goodbyes, I was leaving for two weeks and I was already crying, missing my parents. It was the first time I was gone that long from my parents and first time I was going on vacation during the school days. Furthermore, we boarded the plane and took off to head to Lebanon, Beirut. you did a great job announcing the game today. wow was it ever an exciting one to watch. just when i thought the keets were going to wing the other team pulled right on through. they did an excellent job on both sides.
mom thought she had me on the best possible healthy diet. even when i was sick the vets always said how good my feathers looked with only one or two feathers with stress bars on them. mom was very happy to see how beautifully my new feathers were coming in after my spring molt. well wouldnt yoju know my feathers are now loaded with stress bars. i look much healthier, am more active, my beak is growing in perfectly. as a matter of fact mom doesnt even have to trim it because it is not growing so rapidly now. mom thought i was on my way to recovery until she sees all these stress bars. she did read that if you over supplement your parrot excess pigmentation and stress bars can occur so mom has stopped all my supplements for liver disease. so far so good but i guess we will have to wait for my next molt to see the end results. mom says as long as i am acting healthy and have a sparkle in my eyes she is happy(sort of). she just doesnt like seeing all these stress bars. why last night when i had my bath i was flapping my wings like crazy and having the best time. she says i havent acted like that for quite a long time so that made her happy also. by the time i was done with my bath mom was completely soaked. love Cori

How are u sweetie? Mom only got a few blogs out yesterday, so she's sending the same blog with some new added to it! Mom got her cortisone injections in both of her shoulders yesterday, which she gets every 3 months. She usually gets some relief almost instantly, but her right shoulder actually feels worse today! Mom also went to her granddaughter's preschool graduation last evening! I had an exciting day today! It was mom's granddaughter Olivia's last day of preschool, & I got to go! Most of Livi's classmates came running up to mom at the graduation last night, very excited that I'm coming to their class today! Mom takes me to the preschool classes there every year, & I love seeing all the kids as much as they love seeing me! The only difficult part of any excursions, is mom getting me back into my carrier!
Mom is doing good today, but her nose is very sore! Mom has been giving me belly kisses for nearly 16 yrs, without incident! It's swollen on the right side & a bit bruised, even tho the damage was done on the inside! Because my nails & toes are so long, most of the damage was 2 inches down in the nasal cavity! The ER Doc said it was a good thing mom had previously had her adenoids removed, coz my nails would have destroyed the right one! Mom has to be rechecked in 2 weeks, or immediately if she starts bleeding again! She had to be cauterized in 4 different places & has to take an antibiotic! Mom said that the scariest part of having my toes stuck up her nose, was that she was very afraid my 2 toes would end up broken...mom was very relieved that my toes are absolutely fine! Mom refers to this incident as "NoseGate 2013"!
Mom doesn't want anyone to think that the ER Nurses & Docs were being discourteous, they were not! They were picturing a tiny pet bird, like a Budgie, not a large Macaw! Mom showed them a pic of me, they weren't expecting me to be so big! When mom said "Be glad I got her loose before I came in"! That's when they started laughing!

Our hearts are sad for all that loss of life in OK. What a terrible event.
Mom worked in the RVS room again today, the baby foxes are growing like weeds! There are still a ton of raccoons and a few ground hogs, too. Then she went to get her hair cut, and stopped to pick up some lunch. We all told her to eat fast, because both the boys have a game today, and Falco wants to watch and cheer. Tonight she's working at the museum again, a special evening event. On my page is a pic of the fountain mom got running the other day. It looks like it's terra cotta, but it's really a light plastic. ...Happy Humpday BC buddies, our week is half empty, and yet half full! We are looking at a slightly overcast and rainy day, but it makes our tomatoes and okra grow, and unfortunately the grass also! Dad used to spend a lot of time making our lawn and shrubs, and flower beds look so nice, but old age has cut a lot of that out! I am hoping to get out in my aviary for awhile, and Ziggy's cage is ready for outside! I'll probably stop by the game today because I love baseball so much, and I must see what aunt Auda packed in Sugar's Hello Kitty lunch box! It looks like we get no relief from the heat.It feels like we never had a spring time.My mommy also has problems with her right arm and shoulder.She is diagnosed with tendonitis.She was getting cortozone shots and they didn't work.Then she failed all her therapys.So now shes waiting for her nerve test results so she can get surgery.She cant keep her job as a chef and baker because the wrist movement in her trade is what caused it.So now shes at home a lot with us and we get lots of mommy time...

Sorry to hear about mom's shoulder. Has she ever tried something like Voltaren (diclofenac) 3% Topical Gel which is available on prescription? You apply it right to the are affected with the pain/inflammation/swelling and by not taking it orally it misses first pass with your major organs and mom wouldn't have to worry about the gastrointestinal side effects. Mom makes a lot of these pain gels and is always using dad with all his pains as her test subject. Yeah, we have to contend with the "tastes like conures" but my big frother Josh the G/W macaw has been threatened with being grilled with an apple in his beak.....hehehehehe. He likes to reach out and snag people with his beak which dad really doesn't like. You guys played an awesome game! See you later at Kevlar! Cooled off here, but be nice if it cools just a tad more.
We made it to our bazebol game a tad later than we wanted since mom got stuck at work longer than she should've. The store was waiting for a visit from some bigwigs and everyone was scrambling to make things as perfect as possible. Hope they show up. Mom'll find out today how it went.

It got warm and muggy here all of a sudden - mom sure is glad the school finished installing a/c in all the classrooms over spring break. My mom skipped Zumba on Monday cause we couldn't get out on our road ... trees and wires down. But, I missed so much on the BC cause we didn't have any net. But, I'd be mad too if mom forgot my game. They should be there cheering us on!
Sorry I wasn’t on the BC on Monday. We had a very severe t-storm that lasted several hours. It cause some flooding, trees down, wires down, and no power in most of our county. Everything was back up and running this morning.
I was very, very scared and snuggled with mom the whole time, not making a sound. I don’t like rain and this was very bad. As soon as we could, we turned on CNN and saw the terrible destruction in Oklahoma. Keeping all those people in our prayers, so sad.

Ya, I am so looking forward to the game tomorrow. Just got done posting to everyone, and will have to send out an email as well. Should be a good game, those Keets are very tough. And they are fast little buggers (said with lots of affection!) So this is gonna be short, too...running amok tonight! Mom got home later, cuz she was finally trying to get work done. She did get some done, which is great. But it was an icky day. She had another coworker make fun of her in front of a bunch of other people, and Mom kept her cool and ignored her nasty comment. I sure would have bitten that creepy woman. Mom's manager is off on vacation. She would have said something to her before she left but did not get a chance. When she gets back she will. She is not happy about being ridiculed. And not in front of others. Sigh. Mom sure has some nasty folks she has to work with.
Off to vote for Luigi and then get to bed. Mom is tired.

I'm so glad King Jetta got his official portrait! Screech and his whole flockily were upset. I know they said it was OK, but I think their feelings were hurt!
I asked Sugar who does them, but she said she thought everybirdy made their own portaits. Do you know? Please let me know if you do. My mom said she would help if she knew who does them. We know sometimes hoomans do get busy or sick and are unable to do things as usual!
That was sweet of you to offer your mom your dish to bath in. My vet says all that water comes from 'sweat glands in the hooman body! All the water that comes out is supposed to cool them down as it evaporates! Who knew?

So sorry about your mom's shoulder and really hope the pain doesn't last long.
Yup, crazy lady but probably has skewed judgement since she's on drugs. Just happy she didn't manage to take out any homes. She actually fought with the police officer and injured him.

they say it is unprecedented to have to major storms hit in the same area like oklahoma. i think the other was in 1999 and it was 300 mph winds. that is some very scary storms. we felt so saddened by everyones loss. our hearts go out to them.we have already started getting scam emails trying to get money. there are always people that try and profit over others tragedies

What a ball game yesterday! Congratulations to the Phoenix Base Flyers, you pulled off a great win, but the Rainforest Raiders have nothing to be ashamed of. With the way they're playing, they won't lose many games this year.
Mom had 3 tours today, and she says if you have to have 3, this is the way to go: she had different grade levels and different subjects for each tour. We got the fountain up and running last night, too, so it looks pretty outside now, and we'll be able to hear the water when we go outside with mom. Today it's bright and sunny so we might get out, if mom gets our blogs done in time. t reached near 90 here yesterday, but not humid so that was good. Supposed to be back to our 70s today. Sorry, but we think 80s is hot, though if one is in the 90s the 80s must feel pretty good.
Your mom forgot your game? Terrible to miss out on a winning game. Our first game is today. Mom hasn't forgotten but she'll have to hurry home from work so we can hopefully catch the tail end of it. Are you calling some games this season? Sure can't miss those, heehee.

DAY 19 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 11
I discovered birdchannel from a friend at my school. I registered in September 2011 after I got Angel and Luigi. The only friend on birdchannel that I talked to was SKY. Everyday there would be new activities on birdchannel he would tell me. But I really didn’t know how to go to a milonga or the kissing booth. So that’s how I didn’t know how to meet other birdies. I met Sky when he first came on BC with the broken wings broken promises page. Angel’s page was changed to birdie zone and Luigi became DJ LUIGI. To be honest, Luigi leans more to singing with me and listening to sounds than learning other tricks. Luigi started making more birdie friends when Luigi started running for 500 votes to participate for bird of the month. Yesterday was a very tragic day here in Oklahoma. Mom locked down for hours on the Air Force Base while Tornado ravaged the Moore area (just south of the base). We have many friends and Co-Workers without homes now. Civilian Co-Workers will have double whammy with the loss of loved ones and a triple whammy with the upcoming furloughs to start on July 8th. So far 91 is the confirmed dead count and its expected to rise as we have not located everybody yet. Praying for everybody affected ..... hoomans and animals alike

You're right, mom's need that time to visit with the girls - in fact my mom is going out on Thursday night with her friends before heading back to school for the spring concert :( It'll be just me and dad . . .

Heya, Kiddo!
Those Mom's are something, aren't they? My Mom does the same thing and has to get in to shower even tho she is all wet already. And gosh, your Mom missed your game today! I guess going to lunch is good, but sure hope she brought you good things back.
Mom is really very concerned about the tornado that hit in Oklahoma. It had to be the scariest thing to be in, and it sure was scary to see live on TV this afternoon. The location station was carrying live feed from there. Oh, dear. It just devastated the entire town. Sending good thoughts and a lot of prayers their way, too, cuz they are gonna need those to cope with the destruction and loss of life.
Mom had her dentist appt. today to get the molds made for the new crown over her latest implant. Then she went to visit Kim, who is still in the nursing home. Kim was in therapy so Mom went to visit with her during that time. She walked pretty far with the walker, and Mom saw that the fine motor skills therapy is helping cuz her writing is better. They had a nice visit. Then Mom came home and we took a nice nap. And woke up to the tornado on TV.
We are supposed to have rain for the next couple days. Sure am hoping that we don't get that bad weather, but looks like it might be headed our way. Right now the sun is out, and it is warm--that dew point is up. Great for the feathers and for skin, but the humidity is just nasty for Mom. I sure am glad I can snuggle up on her when the air is on.
We play on Wednesday. Have to get my blog to team ready, and then post it tomorrow. Mom has to go back to work, and she is less than thrilled about it. She could use a bunch more days off!

congratulation on a game well played today. mom took a few days off from blogging for us except for voting for luigi and hatchdays and botd. we miss talking to everybirdy so much we made her come back today. she has been very busy working outside in the yard and is totaly exhausted by the time she came back inside. we desperatly needs some rain before everything starts wilting. usually at this time of year we always have plenty of rain but not this year. i guess you are still getting those high temps. i hope you got outside before it got too hot today. they put mushroom manure around our house today so neither Boo Boo nor i got to go out. then afterwards mom went to the cemetary to water some flowers and stopped off at gizmos house and dug up some pretty varigated hostas since dad chopped most of our down the other day. hope you had a great day. love CoriCome visit me, Paddy Cake & Piddy Girl, CORI vote Luigi 225307 & BOO BOO vote Luigi BOTM 225307.

Hey Kiddo
The parronts had a tense afternoon and evening yesterday. A 48 year old woman on drugs decided to take a lighter and start a fire in a field near here. (She was, of course, arrested.) The fields are very dry, fire danger is high and the fire grew rapidly. We are very grateful for the rapid response from the fire crews. Helicopters made trips back and forth to dump water on the fire as well. Early evening the parronts found out they were in no danger and crews were just monitoring hot spots. Mom saw the damage today. It had actually moved away from us but toward other homes. We love where we live, but fire is always a possibility so mom keeps our travel cages nearby. Birds and dogs first, pictures if she has time, the rest isn't important!

How are u sweetie? I didn't do my blogging yesterday, mom & I were involved in a bizarre, freak accident early yesterday afternoon! I was unscathed, but mom wasn't as lucky...she's fine now, but very sore!
When mom is holding me, I like her to kiss my belly! She kissed me on my birdie nose, then I told her KISS BAAALLY! At the same time she raised me up, I lifted my left leg, & somehow, my front 2 toes slipped into mom's right nostril & GOT STUCK! Of course I'm past due for a nail trim & my nails are extra long & very sharp! I was struggling to get my toes free & mom was howling in pain! Thinking it was a game, I quit struggling & started squealing! Mom gently grabbed my foot & turned her head & my toes came out!
My poor mom was gushing blood! She grabbed paper towels to try to control the bleeding, got me to step up onto her cane, squirted my foot, put me in my cage, & took off for the emergency room! To make matters worse, they couldn't help laughing when mom told them how the injury occurred! That was a story that they NEVER heard before! Mom spent 3 hrs at the emergency room & had to have her nostril cauterized! Mom is fine, but her nose is very sore! I don't think that I'll be getting belly kisses anytime soon!

Its raining here this morn'n!! Mom said there's nutt'n worse then a rainy Monday!! heehe I just finished eating banana's and a little piece of pancake! Yumm!!!! How was your weekend? Our area is supposed to be warm/hot again today, but then cool down 10+ degrees tomorrow. What a change that'll be. Must've been very warm at 9 if after 20 mins your mom had to move to the shade. Think mine would've moved after 10, heehee.
That is so good of you to offer to share your water dish water for your mom to bathe, but she wouldn't want you to be out of water.
