Hi! My name is Crackers

I am a Blue-and-Gold Macaw from Houston, TX.

17 years old   M

Blue-and-Gold Macaw

Walnuts are his "chocolate" but he loves all nuts (of course) and every once in a while, peanut butter.

His play perch on top of his cage and on the back of my chair.

Not getting attention immediately.

She squeals when I pinch her (when I don't get my way), she's a good snuggler, and she likes watching my favorite shows with me.

I have currently taken up the incredibly bad habit of plucking and mom is trying anything and everything she can to get me to stop. Any suggestions from my friends?.

If you don't get your way...yell your fool head off until you do! Then make sure to laugh about it so Mom can't be made at you..

  So beautiful
Hi Crackers, You are sooo beautiful. My mom gives me only 1 fruitloop at a time. Not every day, so it is not too fattening. Also what she does with the starbucks is puts some whipped cream on the straw and lets me lick the straw. I just go crazy over that. Some times she lets me take a sip of her iced coffee with cream and sugar if it is decaf but only 1 sip. Again this is only like once a week but I go crazy when I see the cup. I keep saying "Want some". You are so cool. I am voting for you.

Come visit me, Harmony, Cymbal, Jazz, Symphony, Echo & Melody.

  Hi Crackers
Awww Crackers....don't be plucking your feathers!!! Your so beautiful!...mommy says that as long as it's all natural (no dyes, and artifical chemicals),then it should be alright. Mommy's daughter works in a huge pet store, and they say that all natural products can help birds with the problem. Mommy saw in bird magazine a another product called No Pluck...look into that too. Good luck! Keep in touch let me know how your doing....always, Sassy-Blue

Come visit me, P.T., Sassy-Blue & China.

Hi There from Skittles and Bluebell
A vote for you too, pretty bird. I'm not sure if we are the same bird or not. I had two companions one was full grown and one was my age. I was called Lucy (not enough to adopt the name) and since have been renamed. I was born in April of 2006 and not sure of the timeframe. That is interesting though. My pal that was grown was a breeder RF Macaw and I can't remember his story. I bet my sister Bluebell thinks you are cute though ;~)

Come visit me, Skittles & Bluebell.

Hi Crackers,

You sure are a handsom boy. I,ll bet your Mom is really proud of you. I have tried Walnuts but don't really like the meat. My flock buddy Amber (B&G Macaw) likes the meat like you do. I crack the shells and throw her the meat. The other day, Dad caught me throwing Amber the nut meat and almost fell over. I still don't think he believes what he saw. He keeps track of what we eat to make sure we get enough so I guess I threw him a curve.

Thanks for the note, you got my vote.

C-Ya, Autumn

Come visit me, Amber, Casper, Hannibal & Autumn.

  Prickly Pears
Hey there Crackers! I was wondering if you have had the chance to get your talons into a prickly pear yet? Thought I might tell you how we fix them . . . very simple really. I cut a few 3/4 inch thick slices and leave them out on the cutting board. They are really, REALLY messy and bright red . . . a lot like beets. The Macaws just stay out on the counter or table-top with the cutting board and have at it. I have also tried them, and although they are probably an aquired taste for us humans, I bet they are pretty good cooked and strained. I was thinking of trying to make a jelly with them. Anyway, just wondering. Kisses on your little cheek! Liz

Come visit me, Crackers, Gretta, Fran, Bailey & Hannibal.
