 Mommy brought me home from the rescue shelter because she thought I was so beautiful even though I don't have many feathers left. The nice lady at the rescue said that mommy was the first one to come right up and pick me up and start loving on me...everyone else was kinda scared of me. The lady knew that I was supposed to go with mommy that very instant. So...about my feathers...see, I'm a rescue bird. Mommy got me from Miss Staci at Parrot Valley Rescue in WI. Miss Staci told Mommy that I was found in a cage (about Amazon size) with another macaw. That other macaw didn't like me and so he would pluck out my feathers. I was in that cage for about 8 years, so they don't think my feathers will ever grow back. But that's okay cuz mommy says that I am VERY beautiful and VERY special! And she's so amazed that I am as gentle and kind as I am considering what I've been through. Hatchday: April 23rd, 1999. |

Almonds, pecans, and the occasional pizza crust. I'll eat anything, so mommy has to be careful.
 OUTSIDE!!! And on my giant ring stand.
 That darn little Huey...always wanting all of Mommy's attention! I AM bigger than him you know!!
 She loves me even though I don't look as pretty as some of the other birds, and she understands that I have some 'issues' that I am still working on from my past, so she is very patient with me...even when I bite her and leave bruises. :(
 I like to tell mommy to "come here" whenever she goes into the kitchen. I also say "Huh!!" whenever someone gives me something to eat. I love to laugh along with people too!.

Hello Miss Ellie!
RaneBeau here with a long-overdue note to you. How ARE YA, anyway? Keepin' mom busy, I bet. How's is she, by the way? Bet there's a whole bunch of stories t'tell about the happenings with you and your flock.
Me, I'm doin' fine. Had a good summer with lots of time outdoors. Yesterday may've been the last one for awhile, if not for the year. One never knows when an Indian-summer kinda day will pop up and allow me to go out for a little bit again. The rest of the McFlock's doin' good. Oh! I don't think I've told ya but I've got a macaw for company here now. Yup; a GreenWing! She needed a foster home and since my mom is one of the few in the bird club who has experience with macaws, she offered t'keep Reba till a new home could be found. Well, ya know how THAT ended. The red bird and I get along fine and I didn't seem t'mind sharin' mom a little bit more so Reba was invited t'stay. She hangs out on my cage much of the day. Just yesterday, she and I were discovered IN my cage t'gether, something that had not happened in the year she's been here. She was riffling through my food bowl while I sat nearby and watched.

You are my kind of bird! (I do not believe in having feathers for myself) At least you did not get rid of your feathers yourself and get stuck in a stupid collar! Your bow does not look like it limits you much. Mom had my collar off so I could take a bath, but put it back on after I dried off.

Mommy started to cry when she read your profit & had to v4u for your bravery. At Mystic (unicorn)& Majestic (pegasus) Resort, we are having a water balloon fight going on till the end of the month, all of you are welcome to come & join the fun. There are always rides, a lake by the mountains with a waterfall, and hot springs just right for birds. The water balloons are made of a special bamboo leaf so they are safe for the environment & us birds can eat them. There is a food buffet by the hot springs.

It's been forever so I just had to get by to say hello! I hope all is well with you and everyone!! I hope you are enjoying the spring and getting plenty of outside time! I know you love that! I have had 2 days when we were able to open the windows, but we are having a cool spring, so I'll just have to wait a little longer to feel that breeze on my beak!
Nothing much new around here. Mom is off tonight, so she let me stay up late so I could fly around and say hi to everybirdie! I helped with diner tonight and had some mango for a snack. I love to put it in my water bowl and make mango water! Very yummy!
