It's raining here today so it's a lazy sort of day. I'll probably shred some more on the inside of the cardboard box I've got in my cage and then probably take a nap. Then again, it's almost lunch time so maybe I'll stay busy till and THEN take a nap. Sounds like a plan.

I'm really sorry about the mess things are for you and your mom right now. What a bummer about the roommate's sudden change of mind. Thank goodness one of your mom's clients was willing to give you a place to perch until a new home to rent can be found. I'll be thinking about you and your mom and hoping it all works out okay, and quickly.
Everything's good here with me. The food keeps coming, the morning cling-to-mom sessions are still good, and I'm still getting to go outside yet as the temps are yet warm enough. I know those days are numbered though.

Saber here. Actually you know me as Sheba but since a little DNA test revealed that I'm not a girl in the least, my name's been changed to "SABER", inspired by the fact I'm a gray with a double-edged beak on occasion. Ha!
I see from the notes you've left on your page that something must be up with your current living arrangement. Are you not able to be with your mom right now? Are you living somewhere else and only seeing her on visits? Oh man, that would have to be dreadful. I really hope that can be changed soon. I'll keep my toes crossed for you.

How was your Christmas holiday? Thanks for the greeting you stopped by with earlier. Wish I could've gotten here to wish you a Merry Christmas. The computer collected dust of the holiday weekend, not because I was preening (!) but because so many other things were stealing mom's attention. Here it is, almost the New Year. Any big plans for the last evening of 2011? I know I'll be fast asleep by the time the clock says 12:00 but then if fireworks and gunshots and hootin' and hollerin' by all the excited humans happens like it often does, I'll likely be awake again. We'll see.

Did you enjoy your time with mom over the holiday weekend? I've enjoyed having the family around. They invited me to watch a program about wolves which I really got into with all sorts of barking and whistling and saying "Come on, Dogs" I might have to learn how to howl next. That sounded impressive.

Isn't THAT bit of news a shocker. 19 years of hearing myself called a 'she' and then this piece of paper comes in the mail and mom starts referring to me as a "him". The honest truth is it's something I've known all along, that I'm a 'him'. It was just the humans who had it wrong. I doubt I ever stop staying "Sheba's a pretty girl" though. That one's ingrained in my head.
About our game times.... those played on Tuesdays and Fridays are difficult to say just when they'll be posted. The umpire for those games works during the day and plays the game when she can step away from her classroom. (Summer school's in session now.) Games on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are always played at 4 p.m. EST. There was one Monday game played in the evening as a trial run to see if birds liked that later game time. Not sure if it's going to become a regular thing or not. Our coach, TiPaul, has been having major computer issues so he's not been able to make it around to the team's pages. Since Sidney's a friend of mine, I thought I'd fly around with an announcement about his hatchday. But while I'm here, I'll mention that the ROCKIN' RED TAILS have a game this Friday. No specific time though it does seem that they're played around 1:30 p.m. EST. Maybe I'll see you then?Come visit me, Saber of the McFlock, a Proud SILVER SLUGGER.

Punkin here to leave you a hug of thanks for the support. Couldn't get mom on later in the evening yesterday. So here's yesterdays....
Here's todays flowers:
English Daisy (Bellis perennis) - The flowers have a mildly bitter taste and are most commonly used for their looks than their flavor. The petals are used as a garnish and in salads.
Gladiolus (Gladiolus spp) - Flowers (anthers removed) have a nondescript flavor (taste vaguely like lettuce) but make lovely receptacles for sweet or savory spreads or mousses. Toss individual petals in salads. It can also be cooked like a day lily.
For all you I didn't get to tell yesterday....Bird is doing real good. She's got about 80% use of her right foot as well now. We are so excited about that because she's soon going to be able to go to her new home!!
We had a great day with mom yesterday and get to again today because we're getting some snow flurries today. Punkin here. I'm on a quest to make BOTM and I need lots of help. Could you please vote for me? Bird is a sunny we're fostering. We got a call from vet and got Bird home and a Macaw that is one of the birds turned over to us. The Macaw, Baby, has had her foot broken 3 times!!!! And she's only 19 yrs. old! She bit mom but not hard. Bird has nerve damage and she may or may not come out of it. Not very fair to have that news but she's stronger right now so mom is going to do therapy with her.
Falco told about flowers...I'm telling what you can EAT!
Mom says that I needed to make sure your parronts know the Dos and Don'ts of the flowers...
IMPORTANT
- -
Following are some simple guidelines to keep in mind before you eat any type of flower:
DO'S:
Eat flowers only when you are positive they are edible. If uncertain, consult a good reference book on edible flowers prior to consumption.
If pesticides are necessary, use only those products labeled for use on edible crops. No flowers is safe to eat unless it was grown organically
Wash all flowers thoroughly before you eat them.
Introduce flowers into your diet in small quantities one species at a time. Too much of a good thing may cause problems for your digestive system.
Remove pistils and stamens from flowers before eating. Separate the flower petals from the rest of the flower just prior to use to keep wilting to a minimum. Eat only the flower petals for most flowers except pansies violas, and Johnny-jump-ups (in which they add flavor).
If you have allergies, introduce edible flowers gradually, as they may aggravate some allergies.
DON'TS:
Do not eat flowers from florists, nurseries or garden centers. In many cases these flowers have been treated with pesticides not labeled for food crops.
Do not eat flowers picked from the side of the road. Once again, possible herbicide use eliminates these flowers as a possibility for use.
Just because flowers are served with food served at a restaurant does not mean they are edible. Know you edible flowers - as some chefs do not.
It's easy and very attractive to use flowers for garnish on plates or for decoration, but avoid using non-edible flowers this way. Many people believe that anything on the plate can be eaten. A BirdChannel Memorial Service for Birdie Baseball Commissioner Tim will be held at KEVLAR Memorial Stadium at the same time as the memorial service in his home town of Warner Robins, Georgia. Therefore, the Stadium will be opened for a gathering to be officiated by our own Rev. CR Jake <Ö) (I’m sure you all remember him from Asha’s wedding!) beginning at 2 PM EASTERN TIME ON SATURDAY, APRIL 16. To remind you – the first game of the season is this Tuesday. We are up against the Savage Senegals. There was mention to me about our games always being on a Tuesday. This is not so. That would be too easy. Just in case Mom gets too tied up in the real world, the Calendar page has a listing of the games of each week, as opposed to just the numbers that is on the Baseball Page, so you can always check there. I will try hard to get Mom to help me post a reminder. What Mom? She says she will type in all the games for April here… just in case. Tuesday the 12th against the BC Wonder Wings, Saturday the 23rd against the Mighty Macaws and Saturday the 30th against the Quaker Little Dragons. Hello Mowgli!
Sheba here. Sorry it took me an eternity to get back to you here. My human has been all involved in helping get some of the other baseball teams suited up for the season. What I need her to do now is get that winter picture of me OFF my page. It's nice enough here now to be outdoors in the middle of the day- I think the winter pic on my BC page can go now.
As I've not been to my page in a number of days, I've also not been to the baseball page. I need to fly over there and see what those Raiders are saying about last year's CHAMPIONS I guess. Hope to be able to be at tomorrow's practice. I'll be looking for you!

You've asked for some directions; If you'd like to leave a note with our coach, TiPaul, you can find his link line here on your page at the bottom of one of the notes his flock wrote to you. On June 30, they wrote to you.
The Baseball Stadium's page number is 123746. Take out your page number (87786) in the www.birdchannel address line and put in the baseball page number then hit 'enter' or 'load'... you'll arrive at the BC League's page. You can leave a note there about whether or not you'd like to play ball again this year. Your best bet though is to talk with TiPaul directly. Come baseball season (it starts in April I think), the Commissioner wants us chattering and cheering our team on at the stadium so you'll need to use that number a lot! I have the stadium's page bookmarked on my computer so it's easy to find.

Happy Hoildays
Mowgli here, mom and me just wanted to say that, I hope all my friends here have a great and safe holiday season!
My mom has been busy trying to find more work and to keep me in chew blocks and food but I know she worries but she takes time with me every day so I don't worry! I have all my feathers back but mom broke my sprayer so I miss my bath! Everyone take care love and miss you all!

Sheba here with a quick note. Seems that's about all I get to leave these days. Thank goodness for baseball games or I don't know if I'd even get the chance to do these little ones. Wonder how your summer's gone so far. Mine's been very enjoyable, even with the 90° days we've had through some of the last three or four weeks. That's summer for you here in the midwest. I've made good use of the season by spending lots of time outside in my parrot pen. I'm lucky to live where there's not much of a fear of anyone bothering me while I'm out there. The door's kept padlocked most of the time just in case. Better safe than sorry, right?
