 I have been wanting one since the 80's, but could not afford a hand raised baby back in the day ($$$$). I am now a retired/disable- d US Marine (Served in Vietnam and Desert Storm). My wife knew I was wanting one of these guys for a long time. While she was out and about she happened by my neighborhood pet store, where she found a clutch of 3, three week old babies, which they were raising. She brought me to the shop and told me to go to the back corner of the store as there was something waiting there for me. As I walked back there thinking what could this be, I found them all sleeping and so adorable! I selected him on the spot, he was the biggest of the 3. After a lot of visiting and helping in the raising, Merlin came home at five months old and we have been together ever since! He is without a doubt, my one true BEST friend! I wake up everyday, because of Merlin.. |

Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. Ok your dad's how we met made mom tear up again. she's such a softie. Being the reason your dad wakes up, i think that got to her. We're a family addicted to birds, so we know that feeling. Mom always wanted a parrot growning up too. Then she married Dad who spoils her a bit and we're up to 15 parrots!! Dad keeps telling her thats enuff but she is addicted i think... i hope you have a wonderful christmas.. and gets lots of presents.... My Merlin loves to take showers with Dad. He sings and plays and will roll over in the bathtube to make sure everything gets washed. Come visit me, Merlin.

Wow you have just described my Merlin!!! He is really my husband's bird. He flies too but when he goes outside he loves Dad enough to never fly. He got the name Merlin because he could get out of every opening of his cage and my son's obsession with dragon's and King Arthur. He was bought for my teenage son but attached to my husband. Hey, My Blue and Gold hangs with one toe from the roof of his cage also. Maybe that is a Blue and Gold thing, the one at the Dallas Zoo does the same thing. My other two which is a Scarlett and a Catalina don't do that. Yours has a Happy looking face. My husband was also in Vietnam. Flew helicopter for the Army and was shot down and burned.
