 I've always loved birds, and when my family decided to get a pet, we thought a bird would be nice. We did tons of research, and decided that a lovable little budgie would be perfect. We went to the pet store one summer evening, and selected the most active, healthiest budgie there. We brought home our new baby bird in a tiny box, and we've been best friends ever since. Sadly, Chirpy passed away on August 18th after losing a battle with psittacosis. He has packed his bags and moved to Heaven, where he is having a lot of fun. |

Hi! My name is Chirpy
I am a Budgerigar from State College, PA.

Kaytee Orange blossom honey treats, lettuce, muffins, fresh fruit, cereal, bread, and cheese. (I'm not allowed to have cheese anymore because my owner is worried it may plug up my crop). If you're eating it, I want to eat it too!
 Anywhere there's a mirror or food. I love to sit on my owners' shoulder and preen her wet hair after she takes a shower.
 When my owner doesn't share her food with me.
 She feeds me lettuce, cleans my cage, and buys me shiny new toys. She loves me a lot!
 I can say several words, including "Budgie"
"Chirpy-bird", and "Cheese!" I use some words in context! I know that I am "Chirpy" or "Bird" and I use the word "cheese" to refer to food. For example, if my owner opens the fridge, I will land on her shoulder and ask "Bird get cheese?" to ask for a snack! I love soda cans and nibbling at paper, and I can "shake hands" with my foot. When I was a baby budgie, I liked to push my budgie-sized soccer ball around with my beak. (I think soccer is boring now, so I don't do that anymore). Sometimes I would push it into the bird sized goal! I like to take baths in a tea saucer in the kitchen sink..

Hi there!
Chirpy is such a handsome budgie! Our 'flock' is made up of 3 budgies and a baby cockatiel. We've been looking for other 'bird-people' in State College, but it isn't easy!

Hello Chirpy!
My you are a pretty bird, and smart too! I am one of 6 budgies at my house, ages 5 years to 3 monthes (me!!). I also have a cockatiel friend, 2 dove friends, and a little bantam chicken who lives in the house! there are snakes where we live so she isnt allowed outside... Have a wonderful 4th of july! you dressed up so patriotic!

How I edited the picture
Thanks for all the votes!!! To make it look like Chirpy was wearing clothes, I just put the photo in Microsoft Paint and copy/pasted the clothes from the internet. You need to make sure each addition to the photo is completely surrounded by white, select the image, and go to Image/Draw opaque. You should then be able to drag the clothes onto the bird in the picture. I plan to "dress him up" for other holidays, too.Come visit me, Chirpy.
