 I found an ad for her at the local feed store. I went and picked her up the next afternoon. She was the most pitiful thing I had ever seen. She had been raised by her parents in an outdoor aviary, had very little human contact, and was malnourished. With gentle training I tamed her so that she would not be so stressed around us. Now she is the sweetest little bird ever and is VERY spoiled.

 I like to sit on my mama's knee; on my fluffy, yellow swing, and in my outdoor aviary when it is warm enough, on Poirot's boing, on the table next to Poirot, and in his pellet container. One of my playgyms. Anywhere
 Taking yucky medicine. Being touched with hands on my back and tail.
 She pets me whenever I want, gives me lots of treats, and taught me lots of tricks.
 I like to make chopsticks out of wooden stir sticks and eat my cooked food with them in my beak..
 There must be one more crumb... .somewhere.

Your note letting me know that Poirot has been delivered and your Mama is back home safely brought a sigh of relief. I find myself constantly sighing out of concern for what your Grey brother might be feeling and thinking. I so hope he finds this all amusing and knows in his heart that your Mama will be back soon to take him home again. He's such a smart fellow, I just know he listened as your Mama explained everything to him and is trusting her every word at this point.
I'm sorry about the concern and worry you must have for Poirot as well. He's been your buddy, your companion for many a year and you're likely missing him nearly as much as your Mama is right now. I'm glad you have Pepper there to keep you company. Perhaps he'll share some of his food with you. I know that's a comfort for you. ;)

Jasper here... with tons of thanks for stopping by to wish me a Happy Hatchday, and voting for me to get me in as BOTD to spend time at the castle with my good friend Chyna. I had the bestest hatchday ever. 7 is a BIG number, and Mom had a cake for me and Lizzie baked me an even bigger one so everybirdy would have some, and… Oh yeh, Mom let me pick my own toy from the toy closet. I did not pick the biggest one but I picked one with colors I like, and it used to have a card on it but I chewed that right away and then it fell on the floor. Mom made all kinds of fruit juices and a big platter of fruit so there was lots of that too, for all the birds that stopped by to see me. Then, while at the castle, I think having not one but TWO macaws at the castle was a lot of work for the castle staff. Everybirdy came by again to visit and the time went by so fast. I met some new friends too, and that made it more special. One can never have enough friends. How are you doing? I hope everything is going great for you!
I have been assisting mom with spring cleaning and it has been very interesting. Mom did not know that we had extra computer mice stashed in the drawer of the side table. I suppose they might come in handy some day. The closets will be done next week when mom is taking a few days off. They are not too messy but mom checks everything out twice a year just to see if there are things we can get rid of. It also helps to keep things organized so no one has to tear everything apart to find something! I just enjoy spending time with mom!!

Good morning Pringle, Poirot & Pepper ~
Thank you so much for flying by with hatchday wishes! I had a wonderful day yesterday. Mom gave me my favorite for breakfast.....oatmeal & blueberries. Then for dinner I got a chicken wing. You know how I love my chicken wings! She also made me a toy but I wasn't too impressed with it. I just wanted to hang out on mom ~ Mom calls me her velcro bird when I do that. :-)

I hope all is well with you too! I am doing just fine. I did get put in the play cage a bit early today because I was getting too rowdy! I bit mom a few time but we were just playing! She said it was time to calm down a little so I went and had some apple.
We made a nice big pot of the mash this weekend and I am enjoying it very much. Mom even let me have a bit of corn bread with it yesterday. It was very good!!

Hello Pringle
It's Grover! How are you? How's the food foraging and fancy flying and fun times in your wonderful home? Are you and Pepper still pals that hang out together sometimes? And what about eggs, laid any lately? So many questions, I know, but since I've been gone and now I'm back, I'm full of them! Yes, my page was in retirement for awhile but since I missed chatting 'tiel with my 'tiel friends, I asked mom if I couldn't have my page back again.
All is good with me. I've kept busy doing all the usual cockatiel things, egg tending included. Ms Gonzo, she does love her egg laying and sweet guy that I am, I always help her keep them warm. We're not doing something right because the eggs never hatch, but I have a sneaky suspicion that those fake things get snuck in under us every single time.
I do hope you're one happy and content little gal and destined to have a very nice week.
It's nice to get to see you again.

I can't believe the last day of my campaign is here. This has been a most extrordinary month and I have loved every minute of it ! Today's book was a favorite from when mom taught 2nd grade (now she's in 4th) :
One last children's picture book - TERRIFIC by Jon Agee is about Eugene Mudge, a pessimistic old curmudgeon. He wins a free trip to Bermuda and of course everything goes wrong ! He ends up shipwrecked on a deserted island with a broken winged parrot named Lenny. Lenny's help and friendship end up being the catalyst for Eugene's transformation and rescue ! Great illustrations too !

Another quaker book today ! PARROTS IN THE CITY : ONE BIRD'S STRUGGLE FOR A PLACE ON THE PLANET by Mattie Sue Athan, Jon-Mark and JoAnn Davey is about us quakers ! It details our history and introduction to the United States, our lives (and restrictions here), as well as suggestions for forming better relationships with local power companies (my feral brothers like to build nests around power grids). Well researched essential reading for all power company workers ! And quaker lovers !

Another memoir about life with the flocks ! CORVUS : A LIFE WITH BIRDS by Esther Woolfson weaves together information and humor. The author writes as though she's sitting with you in your living room chatting about her flock back home in Scotland. Despite the title, the flock includes not only corvids (crows, ravens, magpies), but parrots too, and all their distinct personalities and ways of communicating. Hard to put down !

Morning PPP's
Yes, mom loves Dick King-Smith and has most of his books ! I guess that's what comes of being in 4th grade for 31 years !
Pickles has two other books : PICKLES THE PARROT RETURNS : MY CONTINUED ADVENTURES WITH A BIRDBRAIN and PICKLES THE PARROT SPEAKS : ON LIFE, THE UNIVERSE, AND SESAME SEED, both also by Georgi Abbott. Although mom has both in her library, they sit on her pile unread as of yet. It appears, though, that Pickles is narrating the last book and some of the snippets are very funny ! If you've read these others, mom would love to hear what you think ! Are they as entertaining as the first ?

Hello Miss Pringle~
Thank you so much for the update on Poirot. It makes me feel better to know he is doing somewhat better. My prayers for all of you will never stop. I really do pray for all my friends every single day!
I hope you are enjoying your day. It's very cold still but at least the fog is gone. It is so strange looking with fog outside. It's very creepy looking!
Not much going on around here today. We are doing laundry right now and will be doing some cleaning later. I helped mom eat some puffed wheat this morning so we are going to have to drag that nasty vacuum out to clean up! I really do not like that thing. Mom will put me in the bedroom before she starts so that I don't get that "zon attitude"!
Enjoy the day and I really do hope that it is a perfect one!

I thought I saw somewhere that your frother had been diagnosed . . . but don't worry, we continue to pray - and how cool is that ? Ben used to be a member of the BC family ? WOW !
A while back an e-mail was circulated about a man and his eagle. AN EAGLE NAMED FREEDOM by Jeff Guidry is that story ! The author was volunteering at a wildlife center when a baby eagle, sick and injured was brought in. The book tells of the tender bond that the author developed with Freedom. With his patience, Freedom became a part of the educational training until Jeff is diagnosed with lymphoma and must undergo chemotherapy. The day he was finally pronounced cancer free, he goes to the center to share his joy with Freedom - who wraps her wings around him - beautiful !

I'm very glad that at least the vets know what it is with your frother Poirot and there is a plan of action to get him well again !
